“when you explore, how far do you go?” castor frowned at his own self. “that is a great idea! i just went into the woods, finding peace and quiet. there’s this tree where i usually stare up at the moon and think. and the reason why i hide in trash cans is to scare people. or hide when i am playing a game with myself.”
“it depends on what i’m feeling. sometimes i just stay in the castle, sometimes i go to the other side of town,” ithaca said with a shrug. “i used to go to the top of the castle back home and look at the sky. it was nice and high, so i could see everything.” though she hadn’t watched the night sky in a while. “why do you want to scare people? and what kind of game are you playing?”

“you’re right. i’ll try the next time i talk to her. thanks, ithaca,” she said, with a soft smile. she bunched her lips at one side in thought, and a small frown adorned her features at the uncertainty in ithaca’s voice. “you don’t … you don’t sound too sure.” her tone was as soft as possible, and her expression matched her tone.
“you’re welcome,” she said with a brief smile, but it quickly turned into a frown as felicity pressed on. she knew the other girl was only trying to help, but she doubted anything could be done. not right now. “...that’s because i don’t. but it’s fine, fellie. it’s my problem to deal with.”

“i mean, i guess …” she murmured, then sighed softly. “i’ll try. maybe the next time i talk to her, or maybe the time after that, but … i’ll try.” she offered a small smile. at ithaca’s answer to her question, she tilted her head. “you work differently? but you are still siblings. he cares for you, you for him, right?”
“as long as you try. i think it’s worth a shot,” ithaca said, very aware of how hypocritical she was being. she didn’t like it, but she didn’t see any conversation with herself and otto going well, especially if she wanted some kind of apology. “i... we do.” but she couldn’t keep the uncertainty out of her voice.

“ithaca.” he was going to have to work on that. “high-and-mighty respect stuff, i won’t do it again.” castor smiled. “that’s wonderful! with all that freedom, what do you usually do at night?” he spun around, looking up to the moon. “i normally just hide in trash cans. or… climb on top of a roof and just relax.”.
“good, i’m glad we’ve gotten that sorted out.” she could handle being referred to by her title when she was at formal functions back in charmington, but not in casual situations. there was a time and place. “explore, look around, research. i like to know as much about where i am as possible,” she said. “okay, i have to ask -- why do you hide in trash cans?”

at ithaca’s words, fellie bunched her lips at one side, in thought. “i mean, i guess you’re right, but …” she sighed, crinkling her nose. “i just don’t know. i’m too stressed to live his life —” a bit dramatic, but it was how she felt. she put her head in her hands, only looking up once ithaca had answered her question. “… what? why not?” she frowned slightly, confused. “you deserve an apology, too, ithaca …”
ithaca let out a tiny hum in amusement at felicity’s dramatics. “i say just ask. if willow gives you trouble over it, don’t concern yourself with it.” it was probably more complicated than she was making it out to be, but ithaca preferred to be as direct as possible. she knew the next question was coming, and so she said, “because otto and i work differently. that’s all.”

felicity puffed out her cheeks, then letting out a long sigh, unsure of what she was going to do. “but … that’s the thing. it wasn’t willow who hurt me, and so … do i really need an apology? do i really deserve an apology? it wasn’t … it wasn’t her fault, really …” she frowned slightly, looking down at her hands. “are you going to talk to otto about it?”
ithaca paused. “...no, that’s definitely true, but most people would apologise, just on principle. from what i know about willow, she doesn’t seem all that used to apologising. maybe she’s just trying to find the right words. and i think you do deserve an apology, even if it wasn’t her fault.” at felicity’s last question, she paused, chewing the inside of her cheek. “no, i’m not.”

“princess!” he didn’t want to be disrespectful in front of ithaca so he bowed. his own prince title will be with him always. it’s just he never really says it out loud anymore. “yes, the moon and the stars.i love it so much!” the young vampire tilted his head slightly to the left. “oh, do you still have to do all that? sounds like a lot of work.”
the sudden exclamation startled her, and she stepped back a bit. “whoa, whoa, there’s no need for that. just call me ithaca. there’s no need for all that stuffy, high-and-mighty respect stuff,” she said, raising her hands in front of her. “not anymore, or at least not while i’m here. i have more freedom here. i can do what i want, learn what i want, that sort of thing.”

felicity played with the ends of her hair, not sure what else to do. she paused, crinkling her nose a bit as she thought back to her last conversation with otto. “well, i guess you’re right, yeah …” she murmured softly. otto hadn’t told her as much, but he had to feel bad about it … right? “you’re right. talking to her would be the best solution.” she paused. “… i just don’t want to bother her.” she gave a hopeless sigh.
she wasn’t sure whether felicity sounded unsure because she was hesitant about what ithaca was saying about otto, or because she was trying to compare ithaca’s own situation to her and willow’s. “this is something she needs to be bothered about. if you aren’t completely satisfied with something, then you need to go and get answers. you deserve an apology of some kind, even if it wasn’t really willow who hurt you.” a bit hypocritical coming from ithaca, but she liked to think her situation was different.

“photos! of course! whoops…” castor didn’t really care if it was dark. “i love taking photos. like once i climbed a tree and went to the very top to take a shot of the ground below. i don’t know, really but some turn out quite nice. most of them are of the moon” he didn’t really have any duties. “what did you have to do?” he smiled. “then, welcome. name’s castor.”
“well, taking a picture of the moon only really works out at night, so i can understand that.” and the moon was beautiful. she preferred it to the sun, though it wasnt as though anyone could just look at the sun, anyway. “just princess things. attend meetings and functions, go to interviews, things like that. i’m not the next in line, but with both my siblings here, i had to take on a few more jobs than usual,” she said. “i’m ithaca white.”

“yes, night is just the most beautiful time, best pictures, good for a lot of things.” castor nodded. “oh, boy, i can’t with mornings.” he raised an eyebrow.. “a schedule? early? i would rather stay up so that i can sleep in and wake up in the evening. that’s my goal schedule. but now that you aren’t home, is it more comfortable to just wander around in the dark?
“best pictures? do you mean photos? because if so, i dunno about that. the night is dark,” she said. “well, it’s not as though i had a choice. some of us have duties to perform, you know.” while ithaca wasn’t all that interested in being a princess, or what it entailed, she knew she had responsibilities, and she couldn’t constantly avoid them. “it is. i prefer it.”

“aside from the villains who have attacked, there are also internal problems. complications. obstacles. in truth, i would not recommend this school to anyone looking for a sane experience.” he was still surprised at the number of students enrolling, but maybe it was the crazy experience they were looking for. “oh, no. the big hair trend is very much alive, kept alive in one person i know. he’s harmless but he’s a little too much for me sometimes.”
“political problems, for one. from what i’ve seen, the king isn’t doing all he can do to protect his citizens, not to mention the issues that stem from the class difference between a lot of people.” ithaca herself wasn’t one to spend more time with her fellow royals than anyone else, though she was sure she’d made that obvious years ago when she would rather hang out in the land of the dead. “the only reason i’m here is because my parents forced me.” though the idea of researching different types of magic had been a good incentive. “i know people like that. there’s always a few.”

“Would you now? So how are you like without feelings? Do you not have a reaction for anything?” Eulalia question. Her smirk was apparent but it was all in good fun.
“it’s more that nothing really surprises me anymore,” ithaca said. “this place has been through the wringer so many times that i just sort of brush it off at this point.”

“well, yeah, but …” fellie sighed, making a face at herself. she’d promised otto that she wouldn’t kill herself over willow — she’d given him her word, and yet … “well — she made a wish with the whole ursula thing and, basically, she thinks that … that i’m better than her or something? and then, at the dance, she attacked me, and i know that it wasn’t her, of course, and … and we talked about it, we did, but still, she … she never apologised, i guess? which isn’t a big deal, like, i don’t need an apology, but … but i just want things to be okay with us and — and i can’t help but worry about, like, what if she didn’t mind hurting me? which sounds ridiculous, but —” she cut herself off, letting out an exasperated breath, finally taking a moment to breathe.
part of ithaca wanted to say that felicity was better than willow, but she didn’t think that would be appreciated, not in this situation. and it wasn’t like felicity was perfect in the first place. she pressed her lips together in a tight line, wondering how much she should say before she said it. “...well, otto didn’t apologise to me for hurting me, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t feel bad about it.” yet she doubted her own words. she didn’t really know with otto anymore. “i don’t think you should worry about it this much. just ask willow about it.”
