Chapter 46-56

Well, I lost all my thoughts from chapters 41 to 45 after restarting my phone. Somehow, despite saving it and not touching it for hours before I did the restart.

Some of the thoughts I managed to remember and from the next section of the book are under the cut.

Uh, really I was loving Steris in chapter 43 (and pretty much everywhere she appears in) and speculating that she may have a connection to Autonomy due to showing boldness in her PoV chapters. Also, I was worried we wouldn't see her again after Wax leaves to help Marasi and Wayne, but I'm so we did.

I'm a bit curious if Wax and Marasi have their own "clones" from the Set. If Wayne does, I think Wax certainly does, though I don't know if Marasi's important enough to them to create someone to match her.

I was also suspicious of the Set's motivations and goals after chapter 44 and 45. Like, are they really going to blow up Elendel or do they have other things they're trying to accomplish? Things aren't as simple as they seem, I think

Chapter 46 I wonder if the tunnel connects with the one Marasi and her group is in.

Unless that's supposed to lead us into a false sense of security

Oh my god, Wayne set a house on fire. That's kinda hilarious. And it's not even the first building he's set on fire. Of course not

Oh that's interesting. Telsin and the Set faked evidence to make taking over easier. That actually sounds like a good idea. Implicate the people the Basian already hates and take power immediately under the guise of the reluctant greater good or whatever.

Chapter 47 Connection between aether and sand mastery?

Is Shai watching Hoid? I kinda love that. I also wonder why she can't go home. Is it because of the events in The Emperor's Soul?

It seems the Set may know about Awakening due to talk about a Command. Oh and they know about a broken Spirit Web. Cool. It seems they're very Cosmere aware in general.

As if we didn't need it to be super obvious that Gave was a villain.

The Scadrial Ghostbloos are VERY different from the Roshar Ghostbloods. Not just in how they treat each other, but I couldn't see Mraize and his people saving the prisoners.

Chapter 48 I think is some set up for Era 3 with Daal taking the drained Bands of Mourning.

Varlance doesn't have much of a backbone, but at least he's doing his job.

Chapter 49 I change my mind. While I think Wayne (and maybe Marasi) is the most likely to die, I don't think so now because Wax found Wayne "blessedly alive" in chapter 46 and he was just shot and survived.

Okay, but during the fight with the clones, it keeps focusing on how the metal mines are draining quickly. Hm.

That was a really good chapter. I loved that fight, it was so good.

Chapter 51 I wonder if Shai can go to and from Shadesmar using her stamps.

Chapter 52 I'm getting worried about Wayne again...

Chapter 53 Great, are those horrifying things from Shadows of Self back? And yes, appearently it is. These things sound terrifying and I wonder if we'll see them in Era 3.

I'm very curious to see what this soulstamp does.

Chapter 54 Did Shai just become an Elantrian?! Yup. She did.

Chapter 55 And Autonomy appears, appearently!

Not Wax buying alcohol from a shop he just help destroy.

Chapter 56 Well this is weird. Who are these people, and are they friend or foe?

Oh. These people think the outside world is destroyed. Is that why the Set has those set and film?

Wow. So that was an interesting chapter.

I really love this piece of Kaladin and Syl. Kaladin's expression and pose are both really nice. He's very peaceful, which isn't something I've seen depicted much (and he deserves it). I don't know what it is about Syl, but I just love the way she's drawn here. Maybe it's because she's translucent? I love the stormlight glow and the windspren around them. both are always a classic too.

Chapter 33-Chapter 40

Chapter 33 So one of the people in the special council from Steris' chapter--Mari Hammondess--is in kahoots with the Set. Does this mean the other senators on the council are too? Is Adawathwyn the one being it all, manipulating the governor?

And enter Telsin?! I didn't expect to see her this early.

Chapter 34 Wayne is still unhappy with Telsin (which is putting it lighrlt) but I can't blame him.

This book is such a timecrunch. It takes place across a week or so, though mostly across a day or two? I suppose I'll have to continue reading to figure that out.

Chapter 35 Okay, I do love the 'I'm saving the world because I live here". It's always a fun thing.

It's interesting that Tlesin is spouting the same stuff about innovation that Harmony himself talked about previously.

I think I already talked about this, but I wonder if maybe the bomb is going to have two objectives. The first would be, of course, destroying Elendel. The second, I think has something to do with the effect harmonium has on allomamcer abilities? I'm still thinking it either enhances allomantic powers or maybe gives people them.

Chapter 36 Put of course the cabbie is also a Ghostblood.

Wait, does this confirm Kelsier is Shai's mentor?

Chapter 37 I'm happy to know there are bagels on Scadrial.

Is part of this story going to be Wax (and Wayne) avoiding Hoid and his helpful car? I kinda love that.

Chapter 38 I love Steris. That lady knows how to problem solve.

""Everyone shut up and listen!' Steris snapped. "Or I will barf kn the table to get your attention!'

The entire room stared at her.

'I'll do it,' she warned. 'I keep medication in my handbag to produce the effect. You'd be surprised at how often the option is relevant.'

Chapter 39 Okay, so they were saying Kelsier is Shai's mentor.

Oh a new character! Or maybe Codenames Are Stupid is also someone we've met before. Also, is it just me, or are there more women mentioned in this book? I don't know if I'm just noticing everytime a women is mentioned or if Sanderson actually put more women in the background of the book.

I wonder if TwinsSoul is from Roshar (maybe a spren) because of the way he was described. He kinda reminds me of a Cultivationspren due to the crystal growths on his skin.

Oh. Okay. So Codenames is someone we know. She's really jut going to be thrown in the book like that? Wait, the language denial makes sense.

Chapter 40 It's a seon!

Nevermind, TwinSoul has something to do with the aether.

We have some Nalathis magic going on with those identitiy locks, so that's cool.

Also, before these last two chapters, I thought someone could still read the book and miss the connections without it impacting anything. But now... Yeah, no. I don't know if people agree, but you can read RoW without having read other books. This one, I imagine it would be very difficult at best to read it only having read the Mistborn series.

I have theity-two chapters left plus the epilogue. I'm hoping to finish this today or Friday, though Friday seems like the likelier possibility because I have stuff to do. Wish me luck.

Chapter 27-Chapter 32

Chapter 27 We have Wayne immediately insulting Gave. It's deserved.

I forgot how much I hated this guy. Though I do like Wax protecting his friends.

I kinda feel bad for Blantach. She's right that Marasi/Elendel should've called their district district let them know. Like I get where Marasi's coming from, but surely she could've sent a direct message to Blantach.

Enter Marsh!!!

Chapter 28 I haven't really thought about it before, but just how much weaker is allomnacy now compared to Era 1? I think the thing Marsh does with the gun helps put it into perspective a bit more.

Okay, is Marsh playing up his infamous as Death, or is he doing it to help Wax and the gang? But damn, he's still cool.

And it was totally a performance. Sweet. Though I feel really bad for him. Marsh deserves a rest, especially because his brother decided to still be a nuisance.

"'You may call me Marsh,' he said softly." Wow that was sad. He needs a break.

Okay, the gun thing was helped with duralumim, which isn't surprising in hindsight. But my question still stands.

Enter the Ghostbloods! Kinda! Unsurprising that Marsh is at least somewhat aware of them. Also will we physically see Kelsier on screen? I really want that guy interacting with the Era 2 crew.

Wayne should totally call Kelsier a ghost to his face. It would be funny and deserved.

Chapter 29 Love Marasi casually mentioning that she met Death before. No big deal.

It's kinda funny how different Shallan's interactions with the Ghostbloods are compared to Marasi's. Also, I think I missed the fact that Shai was part of the Ghostbloods somehow.

I wonder who her mentor is. Watch it be Kelsier.

Okay, I get where Marasi's coming from, but now's not the time to be arguing with a worldhopper.

Chapter 30 Wax and Jak interacting on page when? I want to see the pettiness of their rivalry.

I don't know why, but the thought that Wayne will die grew with this chapter.

Chapter 31 Steris!!

Steris being nervous about being center of attention was very relatable.

Honestly, this chapter and Steris' struggles were relatable.

Chapter 32 Allomancer Jak keeps on getting mentioned. He has to show up, right?

Chouta?! Is there a Rosharan food vendor in Scadrial?! Or did a worldhopper bring a recipe with them?

And the call back to only trusting what's written in metal, because anything not written in metal can't be trusted. It was more concise than that, but it's understandable.

Chapter 22-Chapter 26

Chapter 23 Wax showing up at the end there was really cool. But also, that seemed to be a lot he could stop. I really think that harmonium enhanced his powers or something.

Chapter 24 The woman Wayne's fighting is interesting. And now she has a name; Getruda.

I really like the fight between the two of them. Mistborn fights scenes are always really good.

Okay, so modern allomancers (specifically coinshots and probably lurchers) can't control where metal ends up. That's interesting.

Chapter 25 Is Hoid just going to be a side character in this book like he is in Stormlight? Honestly, it's be funny if he gave one of the main guys a therapy story. The chapter he was in with Wayne's the closest we got so far.

Things could've changed, but I think there's a wob out there that says by the time Era 4 is reached, allomancy will be at its weakest. I'm curious if harmonium changes things

Chapter 26 I've been thinking and I'm wondering what kind of bomb it is. Does the Set want to actually cause a city-wise explosion or do they want to make eve. more allomancers? Maybe something like a Syndrome/Buddy type situation in The Incrediables? "If everyone's super, no one will be"? I don't know about that, though. Doesn't feel right.

Also, I wonder if what Wax is experiencing with the harmonium is temporary or not.

And that'll be my last post for tonight. I'm exhausted and need sleep. I have work tomorrow, but should be able to read a little bit. In the meantime, I have some thoughts below.

I'm really enjoying the book so far. There's a lot of cosmere stuff happening on top of everything else and I'm curious to see where it'll go. In general it's probably the most cosmere aware book to date, probably since RoW. I'm very curious to see what else will tie in. Maybe we'll see the Ire and Khriss due to Autonomy's involvement.

Also, I've been thinking about it as I've read, and we all know someone has to die. I think Wax and Steris are safe between their kids and Wax's whole thing with Lessie. I think Marasi's also safe because I think it's setting up for her to be a worldhopper. As for Wayne... I don't know. All his talk of death and how these last few chapters with him were compared to a funeral it's concerning. I don't want him to die, but I have my suspicions.

Chapter 20 Interesting. So Autonomy is trying to rule over the entier cosmere basically? And she's trying to do it before Odium can destroy the other shards?

Also, I'm curious to see what's happen to Marasi. She seems interested in happenings on other worlds and with all this talk about Autonomy and what impresses them, I have to wonder what's in store for her.

Moonlight is definently Shai. I know I've said that multiple times now, but she keeps talking about art and she said "Nights".

Chapter 21 Love to see Hoid and Wayne interact. Hoid deserves it. But does this mean he has a pet rat now? How does Design feel about it?

The guys in Sotrmlight hog all the therapy stories, now it's Wayne turn to get therapy time with Hoid.

It's hilarious that Wayne's telling Hoid to be careful when "things start getting shooty" but like, Hoid would be fine He could take a bullet.

And there goes their sting operation.

The woman is important. I'm going to go out on a limb and say Moonlight is Shai. She's getting focus, she's definently a worldhopper because Scadrial has no moon, and her name is Moonlight, which could be a reference to the Moon Scepter she tried to nab in The Emperor's Soul. If I'm right...

The Lost Metal Chapter1-Cahpter 19

Chapter 1-Chapter 19 I love how Marasi's and Wayne's friendship has progressed. Good for them.

Allik and Marasi are kinda cute. Like, I don't have any strong opinions about it one way or another, but I'm not against it.

There is something absolutely hilarious about Wax harnessing his child to him and stellpushing through the city. Also, Mas is kinds cute.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the Feruchemist Cycle wasn't a naturally-born Feruchemist just because of Marasi's comment about him being unpracticed. And I was right. Hemlurgy.

Why do they want Marasi as an Avatar? Is it her connection to the others? Do they assume she would be the easiest person to copy?

Um... Was that a death rattle? It sounded like a death rattle.

Chapter 7 "Wax wasn’t worried about its reliability. Steris had designed it." The trust he has for Steris is so sweet. I love her.

I want to see more of the Allomancery Jak and Wax rivalry. I want Allomacery Jak to actually appear in the book. Please.

Chapter 8 Wayne playing cards with the people he tied up and losing the game is one of the most Wayne things he could do.

Whoever was under that mask, was it our worldhopper? Maybe Shai?

Chapter 9 Interesting that fabrial flying airships and the airships of the Malwish seemed to have come about around the same time.

Chapter 11 I love Allik. He's fantastic. He's so excited about sharing what he makes with his friends.

Melanie is going off world? Hell yeah! Also, maybe worldhopper Marasi? If Shallan is going to become a worldhopper (which is entierly possible considering RoW) it's certainly an interesting possibility if they met.

Chapter 12 Wayne and Melanie's breakup is sad. Also "sometimes you had to stand there and get shot." is a painful line.

Shadesmar mention! Will Melanie really be the first Kendra going out into the Cosmere long-term? I know there's a Kandra on Roshar, so is it her? Also, what about the terrispeople we've seen on Roshar so far? There was that one woman in Venli's flashback in RoW and I think the guy with the Avian was also a terrisman.

Chapter 13 Good job on Steris and Wax for wearing proper PPE.

I'm interested in the talks about wavelengths. It reminds me of what Navain and Raboniel did in RoW.

They're trying to do WHAT with harmonium? Will Roshar and Scadrial achieve nuclear power at the same time too? On top of that, they might be able to make lerasium?

Aaannnnnd now the metals are rwacting to each other. Great.

Chapter 14 We finally get to meet Ranette's after, like, six years? Took it long enough. Anyway, I love Jaxy. She's great. And I still love Ranette.

I like how they called Wayne out on his "trial". It is selfish and he needed to learn that.

Chapter 15 With all that talk about Death's book, I hope we see Marsh. How's he doing?

Allik is back with his baking and he made chocolate chip cookies! I'm really liking him.

I know it's nothing new for Kandra to be hidden among the humans, but I'm curious to see what it'll be like in Era 3. I mean, someone Marasi worked had been replaced by a Kandra six months prior.

Vendor's back with wanting people's bones (or in Allik's caee, his mask) when they die. At least he's respectful about it.

Huh. So there's pote tial that Wax could become Mistborn? I think if they managed to separate the harmonium and get lerasium, I don't believe Wax would be the one to get it. Maybe Wayne would? That would certainly be interesting...

Chapter 16 Will Tall Boring Guy and Short Boring Guy ever get names? We'll see I guess.

I like the sound of Wayne Terrisborn. Good for him. Maybe Kelsier will get a name at this point. I can't wait to see that bastard when he arrives.

I really like how this chapter shows that Wayne can be quite smart at times. Of course, he just sees himself as an idiot, which is sad.

Uh, Wax signed away his likeness rights? I'm sure that won't be important in the later eras.

With all this dead talk with Wayne, I'm concerned he might be the one to die.

Chapter 17 I'm relating to Steris again, but that's not a bad thing. A lot of things I experience, I like seeing that she experiences (and same with Renarin. Love that guy.)

Okay, now I want to see an Allik and Steris friendship.

I love Steris. She deserves the world.

Chapter 18 Does Scadrial have a noodle shop now? Is that why Hoid was there?

Chapter 19 I wonder how significant the detail about the mists not being in the city is/will be.

Okay, is Wax's mind actually playing tricks on him, or did the harmonium do something? I think the harmonium did something, especially because it was mentioned twice on the same page. I'm not quite sure what, though. Maybe enhance his allomantic abilities?

Allomancer Jak was mentioned again. I'm once again hoping he appears. I want to see some pettiness between him and Wax. Please.

The meeting at the mountain top gave me Urithiru vibes, especially when Harmony/Sazed was described as having one black side and one white side. That specifically reminded me of the Oathgate spren.

Trell is revealed?! This early. Wow. I wonder why Autonomy's doing this. What does she have to gain from this? Or what does Trell have to gain from this? Is it because she wants Scadrial? If so, why? Does it have something to do with Odium?

I'm curious about the sword. Is it really Wax, or are we going to have another Hero of Ages situation and it's actually someone else?

Telsin has become a much bigger problem than before. Yay.

I wonder if the key to figuring out harmonium will somehow help Sazed.

Harmony's point about possibly being pain for Wax is making me nervous. Will Wax loose something important to him,, like his abilities? Is Wayne going to die?

I wonder when the letters to Hoid in RoW take place. Is it before TLM? During it? During RoW? I'm pretty sure RoW takes place after TLM/Era 2. I wonder if those letters have clues/hints in them.
