The wizard shrugged. “Can’t help popularity, Evans.” He chuckled lightly. “You probably have no idea how correct you are – but also how horribly wrong.” James said, knowing that they would all probably be lost without Remus but also acknowledging that her implications were off. “I was perfectly by-the-book, I’ll have you know.” It wasn’t entirely true, but he was much better.

Lily narrowed her eyes slightly. "Hmmm. Good because I would hate to have to curse you." She joked a small smile tugging at her lips. "Sorry... what good looks?" The redhead met his gaze with an amused smirk. "I believe you were popular for all the wrong reasons though." She pointed out referring to all the pranks and misbehaving him and the boys did together.  "How so?" Lily asked curious to what the male meant."Are you trying to convince me that or yourself?"

James gasped, over-enthusiastically, and shook his head. “You take that back.” He said, not really as offended as he was actively acting. “Only a fool wouldn’t be afraid of you, Evans.” He informed her with a short nod as if reaffirming that he was correct. “Nope.” He said, popping the ‘p’. “We’re a team in this and we go down together if so.” A wide smile grew on his face.

“Are you sure? Because you sounded like you were underestimating me a second ago?” Lily teased smiling. “It’s hard not to notice you all. Considering I spent half my time at school listening to either the teachers scolding you or praising you and then the rest of the students being in awe of you.” The red head rolled her eyes at the memory of it all. “Sorry, no can do. I need to remember to praise Remus on his master skills the next time I see him. I never realised just how much of an integral part he was to the Marauders. I see now, that you would have all been lost without him.” Lily faked a look of astonishment as if everything had suddenly became clear to her. “Oh great, yet another thing I risk getting in trouble for. As if it wasn’t enough when we had to share head boy and girl duties.”

The male’s lip curled, glaring at the redhead as she spoke. “Oh, look, you’ve got a sense of humour - shame you haven’t got any common sense.” He spat as he stepped forward slowly closing the gap between them until he was in her personal space. “You know, no one would be mad if my hands made their way around your throat. It would be so easy to squeeze the life out of you and I’d just be doing everyone else a favour.” 

Lily felt herself stiffen and the hairs on the back of her neck stood up as he stepped closer, out of habit, her hand went to where her wand was usually kept. “It would definitely appear that way. Though I hear it’s a problem you seem to share, after all isn’t that why you’re brother has to step in?” She should really shut up now, even she knew that. Her words weren’t as confident and her voice wasn’t as loud but she still refused to back down and show weakness in front of him. “We both know that’s not true, people would be plenty mad. You would also be caught. People would notice, it’s why you haven’t done so already.”
