The Disadvantages of ICT

CYBERCRIMES are illegal acts done through the use of unternet. According to Stephen Nale, there are 10 most common cyber crimes that are happens around the internet.

Phishing or Spoofing is the act ofsending multiple emails to multiple users in hopes of having a number of the clicking on the links or malwares attached to emails.

Blackmail or Extortion is the act of using the internet to threaten or damage someone's reputation to extorts money or anything else value.

Accessing Stored Communications usually known as hacking, is the act if obtaining unauthorized access to data from a computer network.

Sports Betting is the act of wagering or any sports events over the internet.

Non delivery of Merchandise is the act of devising a scheme wherein culprit posts an item or service for sale on the internet and once and the transactions have been done, does not give the item of service.

Electronic Harassment is the act of anonymously using the internet or harass, threaten, or annoying others.

Child pornography is the act of using internet to show child pornography.

Prostitution is tge act of using the internet to engage in prostitution.

Drug trafficking is the act of selling illegal substances unsing the internet.

Criminal Copyright Infringement is the act of privacy mainly for financial gain.

There are 3 ways in Combining Cyber Crimes

Network security. Before a hacker can get through the unauthorized file he or she is targeting, the hacker has to get through the security measures like firewalls, secure connections, passwords, anti-malwares, and data encryption.

Investigation. URL tracking or tracing or logging are used by websites to track your unique IP addresses.

Penalties. More an more laws are being created and implemented today against cyber security threats and crimes.

ICT stands for information and communication technologies and is defined as a "diverse set of technological tools and resources used to communicate and to create, disseminate, store, and manage information. It can improve the quality of human life because it can be used as a learning and education media, the mass communication media in promoting and campaigning practical and important issues, such as health and social area.

ICT TOOL MEDIA FORCE. ICT tools are devices or objects used in information and communication technologies.

ICT MEDIUM FOR ADVICACY. Advocacy is a process and enabling people to express their views and concerns through the use of Internet, specifically on Social media.

ICT TOOL FOR DEVELOPMENT COMMUNICATION. Is an approach to communication which provides communities with information they can use in bettering their lives.

ICT PLATFORM FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

Concept Paper is a document used to convince a panel of potential funders to help a product, program, or service become a reality. A Concept Paper has 5 elements, introduction, purpose, description, support, and contact information.

INTRODUCTION. Includes your group mission and vision and a brief introduction of your project.

PURPOSE. Includes why the reason this project worth your group and your sponsor's time, effort, and money.

DESCRIPTION. Includes all the necessary information about the project. In ICT, it involves the sites you are going to produce of each and how they work in unison.

SUPPORT. Contains the budget needed for the project. Some concept papers do not specify any amount requested from the sponsor.

CONTACT INFORMATION. Includes information on how the group can be contacted.

CYBER SECURITY

Cyber Security is usedto refer to the security offered through online services to protect your online information.

Cyber is combining from relating to information technology, the internet and the virtual reality.

There are 4 Major Security Problems over the internet, the viruses, hackers, malwares, and the password cracking.

Viruses and Worms are program that is loaded without your knowledge and run against your wishes.

Hackers are persons who breaks into computers usually by gaining access to administrative control. There are 3 common types of hackers, the white hat, the gray hat, and the black hat hackers.

Malware are software that intext and damage the computer system without teh owners knowledge or permission.

Password Cracking are password attacks by hackers that are able to determine password or find password to different protected electronic areas and social networking sites.

It combines the storage and retrieval capabilities of computer database technology with advanced tools for viewing and manipulating these materials. Mutlimedia has a lot of different connotations, and definitions vary depending on the context. For the purposes of this Guide, in the context of upper secondary and postsecondary education, interactive multimedia is defined by three criteria:

Interactive Multimedia is any package of materials that includes some combination of texts, graphics, still images, animation, video, and audio;

These materials are packaged, integrated, and linked together in some way that offers users the ability to browse, navigate and analyze these materials through various searching and indexing features, as well as the capacity to annotate or personalize these materials;

Interactive multimedia is always "reader-centered." In interactive multimedia, the reader contols the experience of reading the material by being able to select among multiple choices, choosing unique paths and sequences through the materials. One of the key features of interactive multimedia is the ability to navigate through material in whatever ways are most meaningful for individual users.

WEB PAGE CONCEPT AND DESIGN

HTML ,Hypertext Mark-up Language; is the publishin language of the world wide web. It is the standard used to create a webpage.

The W3C or the World Wide Web Consortium develops specification guidelines as well as software and tools that enhances intersperability between web browsers, servers, and other web-enabling technologies. The HTML 4.01 Specification from W3C is the latest HTML Standards by Web Browsers.

HTML Standards is HTML 4.01 Specification defines the Hypertext, Mark-up Language. In addition to the text, multimedia, and hyperlink features of the previous versions of HTML.

Creating Webpages is not easy. It takes time to create a simple Webpage. Practicing and enhancing our skills in creating webpages can help us to improve ourselves.

ONLINE PLATFORMS FOR ICT CONTENT DEVELOPMENT

There are two types of platforms:

Social Media Platforms are websites that allows you to create accounts where you can share the content; and

Blogging Platforms that focuses on content and design.

The Content Management System or CMS is a computer app that allows you to publish, manipulate and even delete web content.

Cloud Computing is usually an online storage. With cloud computing, you can save hard disk space, can be ran anywhere as long as there is internet connection. It also saves you money from buying software licenses, it has minimum system requirements and a back-up and data recovery. You dont need to install and update cloud computing. But it also comes with disadvantages when using cloud computing. It can be hamperes down by slow internet connection, therefore, no connection, no cloud computing. It needs a compatible software, prone to hacking, and has limited control. Using cloud computing needs to be opened with your personal computer alone.

This lesson has taught me that there are simple ways to make graphics and layouts. Its basic principles are:

An infographic or information graphics is used to represent information and graphics. It is usually done in a creative manner to attract the viewer’s attention and it makes the complex data become more visually appealing to an average user. Some examples of websites that is helpful in making infographics are PiktoChart, Visme.co, Easel.ly, Visualize.me, etc.

PiktoChart- is a web-based infographic application or website activation used to edit informations and graphics which allows users to easily create infographics and visuals using themed templates.

The principles and basic techniques of image manipulation are choosing the right file format, choosing the right image size and caption.

A Spreadsheet is a software application that enables a user to save, sort and manage data in an arranged form of rows and columns. A spreadsheet stores data in a tabular format as an electronic document. An electronic spreadsheet is based on and is similar to the paper-based accounting worksheet.

Advanced Word Processing Skills

A Word Processor is a software that allows users to create, edit, and print documents. It enables us to write text, store electronically, display it on screen, modify it by entering commands and characters from the keyboard and print.

Mail Merge is a feature in word where you can merge builderplates information with variable information. It is a technique for creating many letters or documents based on a template and database of names and addresses.

There are 3 main components of Mail Merge the Document, the Data Source, and the Merged Document.

Four main steps of Mail Merge Process:

ICT promotes the modern technology with the use of phones, gadgets and computers. Most of this generation interact with other people through the online world by making social media accounts. But have you ever wondered about your privacy and security? Are your social media sites are trusted? Are you safe in the so called Cyberspace ?

What is Netiquette?

Netiquette is a network etiquette, the do's and dont's of online communication. It covers both common courtesy online and the informal rules of the road of cyberspace.

Hackers are hackers. Every small details of you is a big information for them. Your name, family's identities, phone numbers, address, and birthday is a big thing to use and destroy you online.

Always know your moves. Be attentive. Threats disguise. Still, there are tips to make sure tha you are safe in the cyberspace:

- be mindful of what you shared online and what site you share it to.

- do not just accept terms and conditions; read it.

- check out the privacy policy page of a website to learn how the web handle the information you share.

- know the security features of the social networking site you use.

- do not share your password with anyone.

- avoid logging in public networks.

- never post anything about a future vacation.

- add friend you know in real life.

- avoid visiting untrusted websites.

- install and update an antivirus software on your computer.

- if you have wifi at home, make it a private network.

- avoid downloading anything from untrusted websites.

Did you know? Malwares, such as viruses, worms, trojans, spywares, and adwares; spam, phisting, such as pharming, botnet, and denial of serviy attack; cannot be only downloaded to a computer but also on phones and hanfy gadgets.

Copyright is the legal right of every originator to authorize others to do the same.

ICT as Innovation

ICT as Innovation. Dean Kamen, An American Engineer, ones said “Every once in a while, a new technology, and old problem, and a big idea turn into an Innovation.” ICT, Information and Communication Technology, deals with the use of communication technologies. Nowadays, we deal with people through entering the online world therefore ICT has a big part to our daily lives.

Philippines was considered as the “ICT Hub of Asia” because of the huge growth of ICT related jobs such as BPO, Business Process Outsourcing, or Call Centers.

According to 2013 Edition of Measuring Information Society by the International Telecommunication Union, there are 106.8 cellphones per 100 Filipinos in the year 2012. Inline with this, The Time Magazines declared Makati City, ranking as Top 1, and Cebu City, ranking as Top 9, as part of the “Selfiest Cities Around the World” proving that Filipinos are close to the trend of phones, gadgets, and computer, generally ICT since the last 8 years.

The trend continues to grow fast, considering ICT as the easiest and fastest way to communicate with other people around the world.
