Media and Information Enthusiast

“The right of the people to information on matters of public concern shall be recognized. Access to official records, and to documents and papers pertaining to official acts, transactions, or decisions, as well as to government research data used as basis for policy development, shall be afforded the citizen, subject to such limitations as may be provided by law.” (Bill of Rights- Article III, Section 7)

The article above states that every person has the right to give information to the public but with evidences or documents that could support the given information. When a person likes to use any access of media to give information is called a Media and Information Literate. Being a media and information literate is not an easy thing to do because giving information needs facts and supporting documents in order for it to be effective. Sometimes, you need to risk your life in order to have a factual information;

just like those journalists who risk their lives during the war in Marawi to give information about how was it going there;

or like those people who are not afraid to show their faces upon revealing the true situation of a certain company of that famous product and post it in any social media sites.

The spreading or handling out of information is not a joke. Giving information maybe easy for those who don’t take into account the effect of the disseminated information to the public, but the mass suffers from its negative consequences.

The media and information literate has a big responsibility when it comes to giving news to the people. Their life is at sake if they give the wrong information to the people because giving false information may lead to imprisonment especially when that information is huge enough to affect people’s life. If you are a media and information enthusiast, you enjoy looking for facts and documents to be used to give legitimate information.
