BDDRM KWENTUHAN
(continued post.)
And of course, our Barangay’s asset would be these trophies of ours for being one of the best Barangay when it comes to Disaster Risk Reduction.

Awards that Barangay Santo Domingo received
Even if we are best at BDRRM, we still had observed that the lifestyle in the hazardous areas are not to be proud of. Pitied because you would really observe the poverty that is being sought through in these areas, wherein they are really facing famine. Take note as well of anxiety because they are afraid of the rainy season because their area is near the river. So, if it will rain the water in the river would go up and it might drown their homes. They became traumatized due to outbreak of Typhoon Ondoy last 2012.

Hazardous Areas
The local government needs to pay attention to these less fortunate people so that they won’t get traumatized again. For example, build walls that would protect them from the fast gushing of the water so that it wouldn’t drown them again. Perhaps coordinate with the Punong barangay and do as well a community walk to examine the Hazardous places so that the issues of the less fortunate would be heard.
Seeing these people not heard made me realize that our government is not paying attention that much to the crisis of people that are facing poverty. The local government should find some answers regarding poverty. Yes they fund for sports to carry up the name of the barangay and also fund for infrastructures but it does not hide the fact that they are being seen as anti-poor which what is happening in our country. Higher officials are being seen as they fund for fixing more roads and etc. which cost more than what we expect which is resulting to corruption. Which it doesn’t have to be that way.
As an individual it saddens me that corruption is still visible to the eyes of the people. For example, again the roads that are being constructed that cost more than we expect. Now we need to take action and talk to the government properly for these kind of situation but if we aren’t able to do that then as a citizen of Philippines and student, we just need to do our part taking a step little by little. Helping the less fortunate in our own way.

Me and Kagawad Reynaldo Villa
According to Kagawad Reynaldo, Barangay Santo Domingo is located at the heart of Cainta and it is one of the prosperous Barangay because of its competency when it comes to activeness in sports fest, compassion for the less fortunate and alertness when it comes to Disaster Reduction.

Although Barangay Sto. Domingo is best at being alert. We can’t shrug off the fact that we cannot control the the calamities that is happening in our surroundings.
As per Kagawad Reynaldo, he can determine that Hazard is coming by being aware of his surroundings and of course being updated as well from time to time with PAGASA. He can also be trusted when it comes to times like this because according to him, he trained with the cadet Corps before.
When we did our community walk, As per Ka Reynaldo, the safe spaces that Brgy. Sto. Domingo has is our evacuation centers that is located at our basketball court. (see attached pictures below)
