How To Have The Most Comfortable Period Of Your Life

It’s that time of the month again, and you are already stressed about the impending pain and mess that comes with every period. But not this month! It’s time you had a happy and comfortable period, and we’re going to tell you how. From using the best period pads to sleeping off your tiredness, here’s how you can have a much better period than you’ve ever had before:
#1 Alleviate the discomfort with a good heating patch.
Period cramps are an expected and uncomfortable part of the monthly menstrual cycle. The cramps are a result of the uterine contractions – the uterus must contract periodically to expel its lining. This is known as the period, and the contractions are helped along by prostaglandins. These hormones are often activated when there are sites of inflammation in the body, such as in the uterus during the menstrual period. If there are more prostaglandins in the system, the cramping feels severe. But don’t suffer these cramps in silence – place a Nua heating patch on your lower abdomen and forget about it. The patch emits heat upon contact with the skin, for up to 8 hours, and relieves period cramps by allowing the muscles to relax.
#2 Use good quality sanitary towels.
Most women dread getting their periods because not only is the cycle painful and uncomfortable, but the sanitary pads they use cause rashes and leaking. If you’re afraid to sit for long or sleep in a comfortable position during your periods because you are certain your clothes will be stained, or you will develop a rash within a few hours, it is time to switch to a better sanitary towel. We recommend buying the Nua sanitary pads online for a happy period. Soft, thin and completely non-toxic, these are some of the best period pads in India today. They also feature a wider back to provide leak-proof protection, discreet disposal and an overall super-comfortable period.
#3 Keep active to keep pain away.
A great way to deal with period discomfort and the accompanying mood swings is to do some moderate exercise. You would be tempted to lay in bed all day watching movies and munching on chocolate. But you will feel better if you go for a brisk walk or a jog for about 30 minutes. Moderate aerobic exercise reduces the bloating you feel around your middle during your period (it is caused by water retention) and improves blood circulation. Endorphins, or the ‘feel-good hormones’, are infused in the blood as a result, and these improve your mood immensely.
#4 Sleep off the exhaustion.
But you might feel too tired to get out of bed – and that’s okay. You’re probably experiencing a drop in oestrogen levels, which usually happens on the second day of the period. This makes you feel tired and sleepy, with lower energy and reduced appetite. You will feel better in a couple of days, so if you want to rest off your exhaustion till then, please do so. Wear a roomy night shirt, and make sure your room is cool and well-ventilated to have distraction-free sleep.
#5 Take pain medication on your doctor’s orders.
Women who suffer from conditions like PCOS or uterine fibroids, for example, often complain of severe pain during their menstrual cycle. They suffer from heavy flow that might last from a week to 10 days, intense cramping, bloating in the midsection, and other issues. If you suffer similarly, you might consider undergoing tests to find out why. Taking pain medication might help get some control over the period and function normally despite it, but do ensure that you take doctor-prescribed pain meds and not OTC cures. The latter can interfere with your body’s natural rhythms and the period itself, and you really don’t want any more complications at this point.
What’s next?
Overhaul your sanitary pad If it gives you rashes and makes the period worse, it’s not worth using. Instead, buy non-toxic sanitary pads that do the job without irritating your skin. Do not use pads for too long and clean yourself properly between changes.
Invest in a self-heating patch from Nua and use it as directed to relax your muscles and dissipate cramps and pain.
Use a foaming intimate wash to keep yourself clean during your period.
Take a long warm water bath to relax your body and soothe the pain away. Getting a head and foot massage also helps improve your mood and boost blood circulation.
Above all, indulge in hobbies and activities that keep you happy and content. They help you beat the period blues like nothing else can!

Why SCFE is a Better Method for Oleoresin Extraction Compared to Solvent Extraction and Hydrodistillation

Oleoresins are a kind of spice that occur naturally in plants as a blend of oil and resin. They are in great demand on account of their multiple health benefits. However, they can deliver their positive health effects only if the method used for oleoresin extraction and / or oleoresin oil extraction separates them in their purest possible form. Any change in chemical composition during extraction and their health benefits get negatively affected.
Medicinal properties of oleoresins make them capable of fighting off the following conditions:
Cancer
Rheumatism
Colic Flatulence
Diarrhea
Joint Ache
Infections in the Urinary Tract
Muscle Pain
Two main methods used for oleoresin extraction as well as oleoresin oil extraction are:
Supercritical Fluid Extraction (SCFE)
Solvent Extraction
SCFE is a highly targeted process in that it extracts only the required compound. This required compound is called the target molecule or simply the product. In this case, the target molecule is the oleoresin in question. The reason for its precise nature lies in the mode of operation which we shall see later.
Solvent extraction, on the other hand, can leave behind residues. It uses a solvent to first dissolve the product. The solvent is then separated from the product via evaporation or purging or other such methods. The solvent does not completely separate from the product, thereby contaminating it.
Hydrodistillation may also be used for oleoresin extraction and oleoresin oil extraction. The product is first dissolved in water and the solution is boiled. At one particular temperature, the product will boil off and is collected on condensation. Heat used in the process can however change the chemical composition of the product. Oleoresins are vulnerable to heat, light, and oxidation.
SCFE uses a supercritical fluid (SCF). This is a fluid at a:
Pressure above its critical pressure; and
Temperature above its critical temperature.
Interestingly, the solvent power or the capacity of the SCF to dissolve a particular product can be adjusted via pressure. The solvent power is high at elevated pressures and low at reduced pressures. At a certain pressure, the SCF will dissolve only a certain oleoresin. Few other compounds from the raw material will dissolve in it and that too in negligible quantities. When the pressure is lowered, the product will come out of solution from the SCF.
Such an action ensures the purity of extraction, whereby the product - oleoresin - deliver all the mentioned health benefits.
