why are so many great writers leaving? It makes me sad that so many are leaving and that we cant read their content anymore or even say goodbye :(

tumblr used to be a safe place for so many of us, but recently, with the waves of unnecessary hate and bullying, many writers are discouraged to continue writing and don't feel that spark of happiness they used to feel while logging in.

if you're a content consumer, please support your favorite writers as much as you can; leave comments, reblog with tags or a little something like your favorite quote, leave an ask telling them how good their work was and you're endlessly thankful for the time they put in this... too many writers feel like their efforts go to waste because they think they "don't fit in" (this is what a writer friend of mine told me before deactivating, i'm just using her own words here).

In the Maritime Provinces of Canada, this may be far more necessary than that. Rent increases have been restricted to 2% a year (Nova Scotia) during the pandemic, but landlords have been doing end runs around this by offering fixed-term leases only and sending new lease agreements when the term ends; as these are arguably brand new leases, they can pretty much hike the rents as much as they like, even for long-standing tenants. 

There’s a rental housing crunch here, particularly in Halifax and the regions surrounding it, driven by business incentives to bring in more skilled workers, mainly to the IT industry. Add to this what was supposed to drive a revival of the shipbuilding industry here (a $25 billion contract to the Irving Shipyards to build new frigates for the Canadian Navy) and vacancy rates are sitting at 1% or lower. It is now impossible for most locals to rent an apartment anywhere near Halifax without spending more than 50% of their income on rent and utilities. Tent cities have begun to crop up in parks and other green space in various spots around the Halifax region. I don’t know where my family and I will go once our lease ends in June, but moving back with either my father or my husband’s parents are the most likely options.

I’m pretty sure that Rebecca Quin can handle being called a pussy once in a while by an eight-year-old. I’m told it’s par for the course where she’s from. White-collar BDSM isn’t Kross’s aesthetic. Kross’s aesthetic is mid-90s Usenet chatroom BDSM aesthetic that’s somehow deluded itself into thinking it’s white-collar BDSM. There’s little knowledge behind his creativity, unfortunately; not even a desire to gain knowledge and thus improve his style. And BDSM? It’s great in a bedroom but it’s utterly beyond passe in most social settings and, as an aesthetic, just comes across as tryhard. 

He seems to exude toxic masculinity - he hates feeling vulnerable and can’t bear to come across as such. Whereas Drew will look away and down with a big ol’ goofy grin or Finn will blush and giggle, Kross just scowls or, worse, will lean hard into the awkwardness and send it straight into cringe. He’s a throwback to the lout culture of the late 1990s - as is Scarlett, to be honest. It just doesn’t work twenty years later. Not all trends deserve or get a revival. 

Men who THINK they are like Kross....are actually like Kross....

Let me explain:

You like his aesthetic, you think you’re him; a strong, alpha male who’s aura screams dominance and his aesthetic is white collar BDSM, and he gets the pretty girl in leather on his arm. He’s dark and mysterious who you think looks like would demand submission without question (and get it)…..he’s everything you aspire to be; strong, mysterious, dark, “sinful”, etc. 

But are actually him…. boring….

There’s no flavor. Nothing special about him. You think your an “alpha male” when there’s no such thing….you just like the thought of others submitting to your will without question (especially girls in leather and harnesses). But you’re probably whiny….the “not all guys” kinda man…you VERY much need therapy but you chose to break down women instead and only think they’re fun playthings. But if they don’t like you, then it’s “woe me” and “all women are the same.” You like black and white BDSM photography because you think it’s sexy but there’s nothing special about it. You think you’re a predator amongst prey (women) but….nahhhhh…..you just need therapy….not a date….

There are few words to top this. 

This will go down as the night when AEW delivered. When it earned our trust in what they planned to do. That accolade wasn’t just for the return of CM Punk, but also for the validation of their hopes and frustrations and, perhaps, some relief that finally - FINALLY - they could hope to get what they wanted, unabashedly and without reservation. No cynical waiting for the other shoe to drop; no wondering what the bookers will do to screw it up. This night came as a huge gamble for AEW with probably the highest stakes to date. It left the table less than fifteen minutes later, bent double with its winnings.
