Can’t believe you got that anon talking about your work being unoriginal! I agree there are no themes or main ideas that are truly original, it’s all about taking a trope and making it your own. I have always felt your fics were complex and completely original in their characters/plot etc. I have enjoyed all your fics and everything that makes them unique! Have I read an FBI AU absolutely but I have read one likes yours absolutely not. It’s easy to see all of the time, effort, and love you put into each one of your stories. Truly appreciated!! Thank you for sharing your work!!!

All your wips sound very similar to fics that other writers have been very public about already writing.....i miss when your fics were really original tbh. Now it feels like you're doing this intentionally because I've seen it happen like 3x now

Have you considered that we’re all getting exposed to the same content and prompts? And that you’re getting fed a concept, but not my plot outline?

Every concept can be basic (assassin AU, romcom vibe, Dark Academia), I’m very vague with what I’m doing for a reason - because I like the twists my work takes and I enjoy keeping my readers on edge. There’s no such thing as originality, we all write what we’re inspired by, and more often than not people are allowed to be inspired by the same thing. Especially in writing. Take a walk around a book store, specifically the romance and crime sections. That should give you a general idea.

Furthermore, everything I’ve written has been inspired by something I was moved by or encouraged by. I’ve had fandom authors be inspired by my work and write something similar. I’ve been inspired by other authors as well.

Are you writing fics too? If you are, is every concept original and can you assure - even if you don’t have a connection to every author in the fandom - that YOUR work is 100% original? No? Then why do you expect me to know what others are doing and move around them?

You don’t know my plots for my work in progresses. You don’t know my writing process. You don’t even know how much I’ve written or if what I’ve told my readers is even the full scope of what’s being planned. You’ve formed an opinion on something you haven’t even seen yet, and you’ve done so in such a baseless and offensive way. Maybe that was your intention, to discourage your authors. I wish you well.

Thank you for checking in. Currently? I’m in emotional upheaval over my cats health - why do we have pets when we outlive them? It’s so devastating a concept.

Anyway! I took a breather from New-Fic and started a one shot romcom that I’m quite excited for, light angst, humour, the awkward tight-rope of he-loves-me-he-loves-me-not. I’m quite thrilled to explore this genre, outside of crime/thriller.

Next year will be my 10 year high school reunion 💀 I’m young at heart though!

I recently moved to the city and it’s been trying but a welcome adjustment. I’m making a new life for myself, and while terrifying, I want to shape experiences in my youth to possibly share with my children one day. All these roads intersect eventually, everything is a story - or fodder for one!

I think we’re our own worst critics, we can be so hard on ourselves at times - the best thing my writing have brought me is the knowledge that it’s given some people comfort and perhaps a safe space - and even inspiration!

I really believe anyone can write, we all have stories to tell. I also believe this is one of the safest fandoms to explore that in.

As for the poem snippet, I just found it very empowering. To me it felt like the embodiment of the witches from my fic. Their strength as well as their accompanying darkness.

It also made me think of the previous harvest witches who’d given their life to empower their coven. It’s all very morbid, but I liked using it as insight for the characters I’d created.

To make a true villain, you need to understand them fully.
