The importance of Intersectionality
The diagram pictured at the very start of this weeks learning materials really stood out to me and perfectly explained why the intersectionality of oppressed groups is so crucial for change. As human beings, we all want a sense of belonging and love, and if anyone says they don’t, they’re lying. It’s impossible to create a world where all humans are treated equally if boundaries, exceptions and exclusions are made, especially amongst groups of people within marginialized communities. The best solution is be a melting pot where the acceptance of all identifies and expressions are welcome and encouraged!

Tumblr media
This is a perfect example of an an internet troll, posted some years ago on Twitter. At the time, this account pictured above mentioning Lady Gaga was super popular for insulting celebrities and other Twitter users by creating this fake identity named Kelsey Hilson. This person does not exist, yet the user took on this persona solely to troll people.

This here is footage from my own Facebook Livestream I posted back in summer of 2016 following the murders of Philando Castille and Alton Sterling at the hands of police officers. This took place in Los Angeles, CA and following this meeting we marched the streets to make our voices heard and to remind the world that #BlackLivesMatter.

Who said you have to be serious all the time?
Lisa France via CNN
This quote really stood out to me because while social media can be very toxic and at times dangerous, we must remind ourselves not to take things too seriously and that poking fun at things is a way to cope with life.
