🛑🚨SCAM ALERT 🚨 🛑
How did I know this was a scam? There were a series of red flags, right from the get go.
I got a random text message on a Sunday evening. Most jobs don’t contact you on the weekend, and certainly not randomly.
The text message exchange was intentionally vague.
I was then handed over to someone who contacted me on WhatsApp.
Genuine businesses will not contact you on WhatsApp like this for jobs, especially not randomly.
The profile picture was of the typical type - an incredibly fake, almost stock image bordering on soft core porn type deal.
They contact you from a random recruiting company.
The job sounds too good to be true - work at home, well paying, extremely easy. Most easy to do jobs pay less. Harder and more dangerous jobs, or ones that require more expertise and degrees earn more. There are exceptions, but this is rare.
They start off by trying to gain your trust - they are extremely friendly, acting like they want to become your friend. This will play more importance later.
I’m sure ‘Jenny’ and ‘Alyssa’ are fake names. In fact, they may or may not even be females. There’s a chance they are actually men, and most likely nowhere near where they claim they live. I worked as a telemarketer for a short time in a small, very sketchy company much like this. I was told to use fake names that sound as ambiguous (essentially white or black and easy to remember, nothing that sounds the slightest bit too ethnic.) we read off scripts, and when asked questions had to give vague answers. The boss never told us where he got the numbers we cold called from. We were forced to ignore when ‘potential customers’ (victims, essentially) got angry, and keep calling them. If they blocked our numbers, others in the office would call them, or we’d call from another number and change our fake name. We never did know what happened once we were supposedly ‘successful’. This was for some insurance deal, which may or may not have really existed. Don’t even know. It was run by one bloke pulling all the strings, and we were his puppets.
In the beginning, when I said I was almost a chef, they repeat what I said, just slightly rewording what I said.
The WhatsApp contact is also extremely vague.
They claim to be job coaches, mentors, or use similar titles.
They send you to a fake website. I don’t know if they use ur information or try to hack you from their end, so I treaded carefully.
They don’t know you, and want your social security number over whatsapp. Genuine companies would never do this. (Luckily, they didn’t actually get to the point of asking me, but I had a fake social security number at the ready just in case. Link for that is below)
When I tried to joke around, they took it wrong. This is either part of the act, or because English is a second language for them. You can tell in how they write sentences - their grammar is a bit off. It doesn’t sound like a native speaker.
They become intentionally more vague in an attempt to test you. The friendly demeanour begins to slip away from them at this point. This was already noticeable when they couldn’t laugh at the joke observation.
They guide you into making an account on their fake website. They then ask for a validation code, and login to the site themselves. This is where things can get especially sketchy. Who knows what they are REALLY doing back there! They may be trying to hack you and steal your information whilst they distract you. (I have provided you a few websites you can use with a few fake information generators.)
They actually have the gall to thank you for putting money into their commissions account - more than once!!!!
I loved how they said I was smart. They want to lead you on by complimenting you. This is much like how people using each other in a romantic relationship lure each other along for their own gains.
Eventually, we get to the digital wallet - the cryptocurrency bit - and let me tell you, no genuine company will ask you for financial (bank, cryptocurrency, digital wallet, PayPal, etc.) details over whatsapp.) They also don’t usually use cryptocurrency (unless that’s the nature of their business) as a means of payment. Most businesses will also not ask you for a payment of any sort in general. There may be fees for books or materials used for training purposes, but these are outlined in the office, and under secure conditions. Jobs will never ask you for a payment over the phone, mobile apps, or randomly on the internet! They are hoping that you will be naive and gullible enough to send them your info, thinking you will get money back. They play on a potential hope for greed. I stalled them by claiming I had to call Kirby and ask him if I could use his account and have his info. When I plugged in the info on the website, I got errors. This may or may not have been intentional on their end. This is also why I made sure to use fake account details. (I don’t actually use cryptocurrency as a rule, for I know next to nothing about it.)
If you notice, they said the deadline was 11:00 and that things had closed. It was around 10:30 when they announced this. They are clearly not in the same time zone. (New York and Florida, where they said they are from, are both in the same time zone.)
When this doesn’t work, they start discussing about sending them money. This is purposely worded in a tricky way so as to distract potential victims.
The Gordon Gresley mentioned is of course Gordon the express engine
And Kirby the vacuum
lol…….
I want to thank Kitboga for inspiration and education, which allows me to share this with you! I am not associated with him, but I do recommend watching his videos. He does excellent work!

Whilst the scammers were having me play their ‘training game’, I googled a few links on further proof concerning why this is a scam, and how the scam works - from others who have encountered it.

Because of that last post I responded to, and just the general categories I've seen people fall into in these conversations, I'm curious:
Please reblog for sample size, deeply curious the demographics of this one

While Israel actively commits a genocide and prepares to invade Rafah, Eurovision helps it spread its war propaganda. Boycott Eurovision.

Ramadan is coming up and I can’t stress enough how much Palestinians have never got the chance to experience one normal Ramadan for 75years
You may not have been subjected to this, but as a person from an Arabic country, every Ramadan from every year there’s always headlines of Israeli iof soldiers or Israeli extremist settlers attacking Palestinians during Ramadan, especially Palestinian worshipers trying to pray in the al aqsa mosque
It’s happens almost every single year
Ramadan is suppoused to be Muslim people’s month of worship, of Baraka and it is very important to Muslim people
But Palestinians never ever experienced a normal Ramadan because Israel attacks them Viciously
Almost
Every
Single
Fucking
Year
And I will dare and say that Israel does it on purpose, it does it every Ramadan on purpose
And now, this year, with Ramadan being only a few weeks away, I doubt that they’ll have a normal Ramadan, not in the West Bank, and not in Gaza
All what I have to say here is that Israel will still follow this trend, something bad is gonna happen this Ramadan, keep an eye on Palestine during Ramadan

I am so fucking scared. I feel that... you know it's not about death. I'm not so scared of death. I'm so scared of being displaced. I want to go back to my home--and I'm so near, by the way... Gaza is so small. But I can't go there because the Gaza Strip is cut into pieces, and vehicles and tanks are in the borders between these pieces so I just can't go anywhere inside my homeland. My place. And... it's unacceptable. It's unimaginable. You know I have never imagined before that one day someone would just grab me from my... my homeland. My place. And just throw me away and prevent me to come back.
By the way, we don't know if we could go back. If we could go back again. Ever. And I'm so scared that they could displace us from Gaza Strip to the desert. [Bisan's voice breaks, she breaks into tears] We will die in the desert because of hunger. They displaced us to Egypt. To the north of Egypt, to Sanari desert. People just die. We will die.
[Sob] I don't know why do you guys are watching without doing anything to end this. Just in the... just stop it. Just stop it. Stop it in any price, stop it in any cost. Just stop it for anything. Just stop this. It's a nightmare. I can't continue just thinking about the displacement more and more. It's a nightmare. And I can't-- I can't keep it alive while thinking of being displaced more and more.
I just wanna go back to my home.

Y'know what, fuck it. Welcome to-
✨DO YOU KNOW THIS THOMAS & FRIENDS CHARACTER?✨
A brand new game I invented because I'm bored and also curious. The name of the game is I'll be making polls (as long as I remember to) with a TTTE character that might not have been seen by people other than fans of the media due to the main characters overshadowing them in most fanworks and in the situation of a lot of merchandise, as most folks associate the series with just Thomas and barely go beyond that. So, for the first poll of the season...
DO YOU KNOW THIS THOMAS & FRIENDS CHARACTER:
Emily, the emerald engine

Her biography according to the wiki: Emily is an emerald tender engine who lives and works on the Island of Sodor, and is the North Western Railway's number 12 engine. She is the Island's official "safety engine" and has her own set of passenger coaches.
(Reblogs are greatly encouraged and appreciated for a larger sample size! I am trying my hardest to push this poll towards non fans of the series!)
