I posted this on twitter just as an fyi to some of the @voltron​ twitter accounts, but a few people asked me to post it here as well.

The “English-Audio Description” option, which has extra narration of the action onscreen as an accessibility feature for individuals with visual impairment, has the wrong audio for the Adam & Shiro scene in “A Little Adventure”. The subtitles are correct, but the audio doesn’t match up. Adam calls Shiro his “flight partner” & “best friend.” Presumably this is one of the alternative takes Josh mentioned in an interview yesterday:

“I don’t really know all of the going-ons behind the scenes,” Keaton carefully makes clear to Inverse, “but it almost wasn’t going to happen.” Alternate takes of Shiro and Adam talking to each other were recorded that were way less explicit about their relationship. “We had to record other stuff to make it more vague,” Keaton says.

This video is from Netflix US, but people from several other countries have mentioned it as well.

If I see one more person say that shiro and Adams relationship was queerbait I’m going to lose my mind. It wasn’t. There were VERY CLEAR signs and confirmation in just the way they spoke to each other that they we’re in a relationship. Adam telling Shiro to choose between him and his dreams (as shitty as it is) isn’t something you say to a friend. That was clearly Adam walking out of the relationship. The thing is, y'all who say it was queerbait are just upset that they didn’t overplay it. If in that scene, it was a girl, EVERYONE would be talking about that relationship but because it was a guy, people expected more. The vld team played it off as a normal relationship. Which it was. Get off your high horse and actually listen to how lgbt people view the scene. As a lesbian, that’s just my tea.

You know, the weirdest thing to me about antis constantly commenting “WE LOVE BROTHERS” on posts like this is… I don’t do that with actual sibling content that I post about. 

Like, there are lots of sibling relationships I have a lot of love for. But I don’t go around commenting “WOW, I LOVE SIBLINGS!!!” every time I see a post about Pidge and Matt, or Luke and Leia, or Shuri and T’challa, or Dick Grayson and Tim Drake. I’d be much more likely to just say “Awww, I love these two!”, or comment something specific to their relationship. We know they’re siblings. There’s no need to specify it, and it’s not really saying anything about why I love them. So it’s just kind of a pointless comment to make.

Sure, sometimes you might make a comment like “These two have the loveliest sibling bond” or “I love what a great big brother X character is”, or something like that. But that’s not going to be every time, and that’s still a more meaningful comment than just saying “I LOVE BROTHERS!!!” and “BROTHERS!!!” and “LOOK AT THEM BEING BROTHERS” over and over.

So that’s why it rings incredibly false to me when antis make those comments over and over. If they were just genuinely trying to express love for Shiro and Keith’s relationship, even if they see it as brotherly, I’d expect to see a bit more variation in these comments. “I really love these two!” or “Can’t wait to see more scenes with them next season!” or even “Man, the found family story with these two is so beautiful <3″.

Saying “I LOVE BROTHERS” over and over isn’t actually saying anything about Shiro and Keith (do you just love any brothers? What is it about these two specifically that you love?), and it feels more like these people are just trying to make their stance in the discourse known than that they’re expressing any kind of genuine appreciation for the relationship. Because… that’s not how most of us talk about sibling relationships we love.

If you love these ““brothers”” so much, why don’t you have anything else to say about them?
