A leisure farm in Taiwan has a way of inculcating the importance of agriculture in the young minds of kids and their parents. This is at the Tongshan Rice and Tea Resort, a member of the Taiwan Leisure Farms Development Association based in Yilan county. Tongshan township is where 40,000 people, mostly farmers, reside. Several years back, Tammy Chien decided to convert an old warehouse into a learning center with focus on farming. The town’s four main products are rice, mushroom, pomelo and tea. At the learning center, the participants experience hands-on do-it-yourself educational activities, including but not limited to preparing rice cake, poprice, milling rice etc. In rice, planting rice is not the only topic that is discussed. To appreciate the rice that is cooked, there is a mini rice mill installed in the learning center where one can see how rice is milled. The rice mill can produce well polished rice. The learning center also shows how to produce brown rice that is richer in vitamins than its well-polished counterpart. Then there is value-adding in rice. Installed in the learning center is a machine that can convert milled rice into poprice. The small machine can make poprice in just a few minutes. The popped rice is whole not broken. The Tongshan Rice and Tea Resort has also put up a store where the farmers’ produce are sold. Most of them are in processed form. The leisure farms in Taiwan have been promoted by the government for several years now to improve the economic status of farmers. Agritourism is being promoted by the Taiwan Leisure Farms Development Association (TLFDA) which is financially supported by the government. Marvelous sand sculptures on the gorgeous fulong beach. You can get here easily via train from Taipei train station. The local train fare is NTD83 from Taipei to Fulong train station. Once, you reach Fulong, it is walking distance to the beach. You can grab a lunch box for around NTD60 at shops outside the train station. Bike rentals are also available. The sand sculptures are great art and some of them are huge. If the weather is good, there are light shows at night between 7pm to 9pm so plan your visit time well as there are no extra charges to the light shows. Entry fee to the beach is NTD10 for adults and NTD5 for child ages from 3 to 12 years old. #travelblogger #travelling #traveller #travelers #travels #travelblog #traveler #travellers #traveling #travelholic #travelingram #travelbug #travelpic #travelphoto #traveldiary #traveldiaries #travelandlife #travellife #travelpics #travelwriter #travelstagram #travelblog #travelersnotebook #instastravel #earthpix #trip #instatrip #travelingtheworld #ilovetravel #seetheworld (at Fulong Beach) https://www.instagram.com/p/BmhsOLuhYxj/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1rle0ckvbcy0r

If you’ve ever gone shrimping, then you’ll know that it’s usually done off a boat or a seawall. In Taipei, however, there are no boats or large bodies of water in sight, and there’s usually a beer fridge behind you. Shrimping restaurants in Taiwan‘s capital are something of a lovable oddity – here’s why. On this island nation obsessed with seafood and having a particular fondness for the novelty factor, it’s unsurprising that you can find an establishment where you have to catch your dinner yourself. It adds another level of excitement to the dinner table, and if there’s one thing that the Taiwanese love when it comes to food, it’s the unusual. Once you arrive at your chosen shrimping spot, you pay a pretty reasonable fee of about US$10 (TWD$300) for the use of a pole, a plastic chair, and a bucket of bait for an hour. You then find yourself a place at one of the rectangular pools and set up alongside your fellow shrimpers. One thing you must realize before going in though, if you don’t catch, you don’t eat. That’s right – you’re paying for the use of the equipment only, and if you happen to catch a shrimp, then you can eat it for free. #travelblogger #travelling #traveller #travelers #travels #travelblog #traveler #travellers #traveling #travelholic #travelingram #travelbug #travelpic #travelphoto #traveldiary #traveldiaries #travelandlife #travellife #travelpics #travelwriter #travelstagram #travelblog #travelersnotebook #instastravel #earthpix #trip #instatrip #travelingtheworld #ilovetravel #seetheworld (at Taiwan) https://www.instagram.com/p/BmimfffBcNb/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ip1rb28d9tqy

Named after the Lanyang Plains (present day Yilan County), the Lanyang museum was built next to Wushigang Harbor (烏石港) as a place where visitors can learn about the history, culture, landscape, and natural beauty of Yilan. The museum was designed by Kris Yao to blend in with nature and inspired by local natural elements such as the cuesta, a rock-form commonly found along the northeast coast of Taiwan. At a distance, the building resembles a giant black rock (paying homage to Wushi Harbour, or black rock harbour), however up close the building is truly a unique design. As the Lanyang Plains are where the ocean meets the mountains and rivers in Yilan, the museum's exhibits show Yilan's development over time with regard to its special landscape. #travelblogger #travelling #traveller #travelers #travels #travelblog #traveler #travellers #traveling #travelholic #travelingram #travelbug #travelpic #travelphoto #traveldiary #traveldiaries #travelandlife #travellife #travelpics #travelwriter #travelstagram #travelblog #travelersnotebook #instastravel #earthpix #trip #instatrip #travelingtheworld #ilovetravel #seetheworld #lanyangmuseum (at Lanyang Museum) https://www.instagram.com/p/BmkxGP9BfOs/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1faewcgtc4l8l

What better way to end a day at the National Center for Traditional Arts, Yilan County, than to spend a night at the NCTFA? The Place Yilan is a resort-style complex, managed by Taiwan’s Hotel Royal Group, right inside the NCTFA grounds. On the walls inside the entrance-building lobby are two magnificent large-scale koji pottery artworks depicting figures from Chinese mythology; koji pottery, also called cochin pottery, is a unique art form closely identified with Taiwan temple decoration. #travel #trip #vacation #taiwan #taipei #fromwhereyoudratherbe #yilan #yilancounty #passionpassport #travelawesome #neverstoptravelling #wanderlust #travelinspiration #travelstoke #letsgosomewhere #doyoutravel #lifewelltravelled #travelgram #worldlust #exploringtheglobe #globe_travel #beautifuldestinations #lonelyplanet #traveladdict #traveldeeper #bestvacations  #amazingplaces #beautifulplaces  #bbctravel (at The Place Yilan 宜蘭傳藝老爺行旅) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bmos7pFh5w1/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1p5i2y6kt2v4d

Taiwan is a very pro-family country. It is also a very kid-friendly country to the extend that most of its attractions and activities are introduced to promote family bonding or geared towards families with children under 7. DIY is huge in Taiwan and there are countless activities to choose from, so you can create a unique memory of traveling in Taiwan. During these educative hands-on experience activities, age is not a problem. Taoyuan International Airport is located in the city of Taoyuan, about 25 miles (40 kilometers) west of central Taipei. The airport is the largest and busiest in Taiwan and is one of the busiest in the world. If you will be flying into Taiwan from an international point of origin, odds are you will land at Taoyuan Airport. One of the best and easiest ways to reach Taipei Main Station from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) is by using public transport buses that are stationed just outside the airport. The journey, which takes about one hour, is inexpensive, comfortable, and perfect for travels in a group or with luggage. #travelblogger #travelling #traveller #travelers #travels #travelblog #traveler #travellers #traveling #travelholic #travelingram #travelbug #travelpic #travelphoto #traveldiary #traveldiaries #travelandlife #travellife #travelpics #travelwriter #travelstagram #travelblog #travelersnotebook #instastravel #earthpix #trip #instatrip #travelingtheworld #ilovetravel #seetheworld (at 桃園國際機場 Taoyuan International Airport) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bmvapt5BUnx/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=lpuiu9tj9mse

Taiwan’s Taoyuan Airport is one of the most friendly airport in the world. The security and immigration control agents are extremely friendly and the lines move pretty quickly. Even the cleaners are always willing to help. Furthermore, the signs and directions are all really clear. Overall the friendly atmosphere of the airport is truly reflective of the Taiwanese ethos. #travelblogger #travelling #traveller #travelers #travels #travelblog #traveler #travellers #traveling #travelholic #travelingram #travelbug #travelpic #travelphoto #traveldiary #traveldiaries #travelandlife #travellife #travelpics #travelwriter #travelstagram #travelblog #travelersnotebook #instastravel #earthpix #trip #instatrip #travelingtheworld #ilovetravel #seetheworld (at 桃園國際機場 Taoyuan International Airport) https://www.instagram.com/p/Bm0ftgeBGCP/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=mwmmdxfmcfsx
