I’ll never understand why anthropomorphic animal cartoons like Robin Hood and Zootopia will go to the trouble of creating character designs that are meant to be understood as “attractive” or even “sexy” to the human audience but explicitly avoid showing interspecies romances between anthropomorphic animals. Why is THAT weird but, like, trying to make rabbits recognizably sexy-coded to humans isn’t?

I saw a post about Blake's V1 outfit and how it doesn't represent her and I wanted to ramble about it :D

because it DOES represent her, but not in the way that people think. specifically what it represents is her relationship with Adam, how Adam sees her and how it feels to be objectified. It's pretty, it's cute, it makes her look like a doll, like an object. Adam doesn't truly care about Blake as a person, he is possessive of her the way a little child is possessive about its favorite toy

When Blake runs off to Menagerie, her outfit still represents that. It's Blake still feeling Adam's influence on her, wanting to hide away but being unable to. It's still sexualized, albeit not as much (even Ghira remarks on how much skin she's showing), and she's wearing a coat (often used to symbolize characters seeking shelter or a hiding place), but its one that she cannot close properly, symbolizing that Adam is still out there looking for her and that Blake doesn't feel safe yet.

She keeps this specific coat until V6, where she loses it once she stands up to Adam, symbolic for her choosing not to run, not to hide away anymore. It doesn't show up again after Adam dies, once her stalker and the person who objectified her for years has died at her hands.

That's also why the Atlas outfit is still "sexy". I'm putting this in parentheses because while yes, it's a bodysuit, it doesn't scream "ooga booga sexy female" to me? It covers her entire body and remember, they made it a point with Ghira that showing skin = objectified. Now she's covered, while still showing off what she has, so to speak.

And my favorite addition, the new coat.

Blake can close it all the way.

Blake feels safe now.

I don't know if you've seen the latest iteration of "tumblr is dying" but if you haven't, Automattic (owners of tumblr) have decided they will put the site into maintenance mode. This doesn't mean that tumblr will disappear, it just means that they'll keep the lights on and that's about it. They're taking the staff who have been working hard to try to make the site a success, and they're relocating those folks to other projects. A skeleton crew will remain on tumblr, keeping the site alive.

If we want tumblr to thrive, however, then we need to do something to support it - and that something is financial.

If you're someone who enjoys your time on tumblr and you're someone who has an entertainment budget, then consider visiting the TumblrMart and buying yourself a badge. Go ad-free. Choose the new option that I just discovered which is "Support tumblr" - that's the shiny t badge I now have that will change colour over time for the longer I subscribe.

This doesn't require every single user to pay for tumblr. Far from it. Just look at AO3 as the example. Time after time, they hit their fundraising goals and beyond, and I don't think they've ever had more than 10K individual donors for a userbase of something like 5 million.

I've been on this site for a decade. It's the only social media I actually like. I think the internet would be worse off if tumblr wasn't around. I'm going to pay what I can to keep this community around, and I'm going to encourage others to do the same.

If that's something you don't want to see, then feel free to block the tag subsidize tumblr that I'll use on posts like that. If you're open to the idea, then expect the occasional post from me on the subject.

Fandom has lost enough homes in my lifetime. If I can do anything to keep this one around, I will.

Rare Pair (or more) week.

Trying to gauge interest. Would anyone be interested in a rare pair (or more) week.

Rare pair being denoted by the stories on AO3 ergo Whiterose is not a rare pair but frosensteel is.

Bumbleby is not but Blaked Alaska is etc.

Arkos is not but Knightlight is.

Generally just a week for everyone to toss their goobers into without a zillion weeks clogging everything up leaving people struggling to find a week to fit it and I figured rare pair week would be more exciting for people than me making Death's Whiterose week lol.

There would be more rules and what not and exact specifics about what constitutes rare but I'm on the phone so I'm just trying to see what the interest level is.

Feel free to comment on what pair you'd be willing to write or might want to see.

it’s been literally over a month since i finished this but hey!!! better late than uh never right @rwbytarotproject!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! right….

it took a LOT of bouncing around for ideas but for The Tower i really had to go for the fall of the CCT. the tower represents sudden, disruptive, revelation, and potentially destructive change, which is a VERY fun thing to draw wrt: cinder oh boy oh boy. this is cinder, standing before her perfect victory, at the height of her power and the crux of her greatest plan… shame things went wrong, hence the scorchmarks in the card itself, damaging the vision she’d had of her own success. better luck next time, cinder. or, never.

there’s a ton of amazing artists on this project who are just scary talented, so you should check out their stuff!!!!!!!!!
