Takes place after avatar, but team natsu found Gray before Juvia. Enjoy I guess.

I’m sorry

Team Natsu arrived at the small cottage Gray had once shared with Juvia. It was around 8pm and the team was tired and Gray suggested they go back to Juvia who was awaiting his return.

They approached the cottage, it was dark, no lights were on and the ground was soaked. As they entered, there was an Erie silence. Lucy turning on the lights commented on the dust layers on the furniture, “it’s as if the place has been abandoned”.

“Aye” happy said.

“ where’s the food at” natsu yelled opening the fridge to find nothing more then a few condiments.

The place was clean but just not lived in.

Gray frowned at the thought, looking around the kitchen, he found a stack of envelopes on the table they once shared breakfast at.

Taking one in his hand and reading it, he realised they were addressed to Juvia.

“Payslips” he muttered. She’s out on a job right now.

Some time after:

They were all comfortable in their respective positions. Natsu on the floor with happy. Lucy, Wendy and Carla in juvias room all fast asleep. Gray was at the kitchen table going through juvias mail. Guess she’s been busy with jobs while he was gone

He smiled at the thought of Juvia not leaving the town they settled in but instead just was working and didn’t abandon the house.

A few minutes passed the sound of rain outside started to fall and gray was startled by the sound of keys jiggling at the door. He stood up and locked eyes with hers. She looked tired, defeated even. Her small frame looked smaller than before, she was thin alittle too thin. Bandages covered up her harms and she had a dressing on her cheek. Most likely from the previous job.

“Juvia, i” gray took a step forward

She said nothing, only taking a step back.

Gray didn’t blame her he was gone for 6 months and the last time she saw him he was covered in those black markings he couldn’t control at the time.

“ I did it to protect you, I didn’t think it would have taken this long” he continued

“ gray” she whispered “is this a dream, you’re alive”.

Juvia cried as He continued forwarding towards her.

“ yes!, I am. You waited for me and I’m sorry for what I have done to you. I left without a word and the rain”

He finally reached her after what felt like eternity. Wrapping his arms around her shaking frame, pulling her in close. She stayed still in his arms. Letting the tears fall down.

“ I missed you so much juvia” he whispered in her ear. “I’m sorry”

She returned the embrace after realising this was not a dream, or some cruel joke. Gray was home, he came back.

“You haven’t been taking care of yourself haven’t you?” Gray questioned while he let go of her to feel her thinner arms and shoulders.

Juvia looked to the ground ashamed “I’m sor..”

“ no don’t be” he interrupted her “it’s my fault, but i promise i will always come back to you.”

I'm begging you, do not give us battle slide shows of the strauss siblings, we need to see them in action.

Gray isn't taking any chances with Juvia's safety. He already died for her once and he's absolutely willing to do it again if it means he doesn't have to go through the devastation of losing her (or at least thinking that he did) again.

I feel like for Gray seeing Juvia basically knock out felt like a trauma reaction back to when he thought he lost her during the Alvarez arc. Like my heart sank for Gray here ☹️
