hyun-jae was just passing by with airpods casually tucked in her ears, holding onto an iced latte just to try something new instead of ordering the same old thing. it was chill, really — she had a day off and most of the people seemed to be at work at the time, so it was a bit less noisy, yet she still failed to notice the male rushing in front of her. as the male’s broad shoulder roughly bumped into her chest, the female dropped her latte. “ for the love of— “ hyun-jae tilted her head and met the stranger’s eyes. she let out an apologetic smile, totally ignoring the beverage on the floor. “ that’s.. okay. yeah, i am, are you ? “ her gaze then lowers to the ground. “ ah shoot. “ she pouts as she notices the beige-colored liquid spilled all over her black long-legged boots.
Minjoon had spent a good part of his day off at the beach. For someone who spent the majority of his time at pool, either in his red lifeguard shirt or giving swimming lessons, it would be safe to assume that by water is the last place he’d want to be. Joonie, however, loved nothing more that being in the ocean, which is why he’d gone surfing, despite the temperature being less than ideal.
The fresh water had woken him up so when he made his way to his favourite coffee shop with his pink hair still damp, coffee wasn’t on his mind. As he made his way to the queue to order his usual, his attention was taken by his phone alerting him to a notification and he bumped into the person ahead of him. “Oh my stars! I’m so sorry, are you okay?”

The male hadn’t been expecting the blonde to sit on the step next to him, but he shift over just a little to make sure there was enough room as she decided to do so. As she spoke with the tint of blush rising to her cheeks, he couldn’t help raising a brow at her. God he wished he’d brought another drink outside with him. “Well, you do owe me,” he admitted, licking along his lips just lightly as he watched her, thinking about the few times he’d let her off the hook when he really shouldn’t have. Pretty girls have it so fucking easy.
hyun-jae dusted herself off as the blush faded and she caught herself boldly making eye contact with the male. “ you’re lucky i’m not one to forget the debts, then. “ the female teased as she playfully batted her eyelashes at him.

Grinning as he heard Hyun-jae’s comment, the barista sent her a playful wink.“There’s a new Thai place that opened up not too far from here. We could check it out? Unless you’re feeling like eating something else?” Turning back for a moment, Jae cleaned up the last coffee spill on the equipment before looking up at his friend again. “No, it’s okay! Just finished here. Now I just need to get changed and we can go. You can sit here, while you wait.” He said, pushing a chair on a nearby table for Hyun-jae to sit on. “Gonna be back in a bit!” Jaehyun said before he left for a moment.
“ sounds good ! “ she exclaimed. “ fingers crossed they have the pad see ew gai. “ hyun-jae lets out a soft chuckle as her eyes shift around the cafe. “ don’t take too long, i’m starving ! “ the female joked as she sat on the chair.

hyun-jae had her airpods in and was totally unphased by her surroundings, but somehow her eyes met the stranger’s gaze at the exact moment he started speaking. she took the airpods out and shifted her weight. “ hmm, you’re talking about those guys ? “ the female raised a brow. “ they’re just a bunch of scammers looking for gullible people to scam money from, y’know. “ she murmured and put a hand to her mouth as a yawn escaped it.
standing in queue for his daily order, minhee tapped with his feet on the ground, ❝ so, i just walked into this cafe right and three jehovahs suddenly bumped into me , ❞ talking on his phone, ❝ then they did their weird cross magic and told me i needed jesus and an exorcism to safe my soul ? how rude is that ! ❞ sighing, looking over at the person in front of him, ❝ excuse me, did they tell you to seek help too ? ❞ pointing at the men handing out leaflets outside the building.

It was rare for Jaehyun to be the one closing The Brew, but that day his manager had trusted him with the task after needing to leave early to attend a meeting. The barista was finishing cleaning the equipment when he heard someone walk in. In that moment, Jae realized he had forgotten to put up the ‘closed’ sign, so he just told informed the costumer, thinking they’d turn around and leave. He was about to turn around and offer an apologetic smile when he heard the familiar voice anad felt her arms around his neck. Grinning, Jae turned around and pulled her into a quick hug. “Hi! It’s nice seeing you.” He joked, chuckling a bit. “I’m almost done here. Wanna go for dinner after I close the shop?”
hyun-jae hugged her friend back. her lips formed into a smile as she carefully pulled away. “you as well.” she nodded. “of course ! you know the way to my heart.” the female chuckled. “ do you need any help ? “ she looked around — the place looked clean and ready to be opened, but she still decided to offer a hand just in case.

The mention of him doing cop things caused a laugh to spill from his lips, although it likely sounded much more bitter than he’d intended it to. He had in fact, been doing cop things for a good fourteen hours before he found himself on his own door step. But, it’s not like the woman in front of him would know that. “Oh you know, this is what I do when I’m not doing cop things,” he spoke with his own smirk, bringing the last of his cigarette up to his lips before rubbing the end on the concrete next to where he was seated. “Shouldn’t you be doing some sort of teeth stuff?” Pausing for a moment, he looked back down at the jar in front of him. “I’m keeping the cash, by the way.”
she shifted her weight as the male’s laughter seemed to echo through the empty streets. “ rough day ? “ hyun-jae raised a brow as she sat down next to him and eyed the left-over drop of whiskey in the jar. “my shift just ended, so.. i’d rather not.” she shrugged as she bit down on her bottom lip tilting her head to meet beau’s eyes. “go ahead, maybe this is how i begin to pay you back for your previous.. services.” she blurted out, a pink tint forming on her cheeks as soon as the realization hit.

it was quite dark at the time— you couldn’t blame her for not spotting the male at first. as she was rushing back home from work to ease off all the stress, maybe by the company of alcohol, hyun-jae quickly pulled out a five dollar bill and threw it in the jar for the poor homeless man, or so she had thought. the voice sent chills down her spine; but soon enough she recognized him. hyun-jae turned around. “ beau ? ” she let out a low husk, raising a brow at him. “ shouldn’t you be .. i don’t know, doing cop things ? “ the female smirked as she got up to face him.
It had been a long ass day, and Beau was seated on the steps leading up to his apartment building, cigarette hanging out of his mouth, drinking whiskey and coke out of an old, clean jar he was using as a glass. The sun was setting in front of him, and it was kind of nice, almost relaxing after what had started as a night shift. After exhaling the smoke, he threw back the last of his drink, placing it on the ground in front of him as he continued to scroll through his phone. Suddenly a sound pulled him out of his thoughts, and he looked up and frowned at a passer by. “Wha- I’m not homeless!” He called out as he realised it was the sound of change being thrown into the empty, sticky jar that startled him. Great, now he’d have to wash his jar before he used it again, and they hadn’t even given him enough for anything worthwhile.

the gentle breeze played with hyun-jae’s hair as she pranced towards the brew. it quickly became quite dark as the sun set and found refuge in the moon’s shadow. a soft smile was plastered on her face as she pushed the door open, the bell notifying the staff of a late visitor. hyun-jae recognized the familiar voice mumbling “sorry, we’re closed”. she refrained a chuckle from escaping her lips and went up to her friend while he was busy finishing up, his rear facing her. “ surprise ! ” the female exclaimed as she put her arms around the other’s neck playfully.

”oh, no— i mean i love shopping, more than i should, really.” hyun-jae bats her eyelashes. “but my point is, your problems won’t disappear if you come back with a new set of lingerie or jeans or shoes, y’know ? “ she tucks a strand of hair behind her ears. “thinking about all the wasted money, you’ll come to three words that sure as hell define you in that moment: poor life choices.”
