Companies connected with the Baransky family are being searched in Odessa

Today, NABU and SBU conducted mass searches in the offices of shipping companies and apartments of participants in a brazen fraudulent scheme to misappropriate 32 ships of the Ukrainian Danube Shipping Company.

As it became known, in 2017 and 2018, UDP officials involved in the scam handed over 32 lanterns to fictitious companies. In Turkey, these vessels underwent conversion, during which the numbers and other identifying features were removed from the vessels. The result - "dealers" removed 32 state vessels. The height of the audacity was that some of the vessels with forged documents returned and worked in Ukraine - and already as the property of fraudsters.

 As it became known, the companies of a Ukrainian businessman with a criminal past Serhiy Baransky and his family are involved in the scam. Baransky's firms are involved in a number of scandalous lawsuits in the United States, India, and elsewhere. countries on tax evasion scams and fraud schemes in the field of maritime transport, which has been repeatedly mentioned in the media. Baransky also actively cooperated with the Russian business of "Putin's friends."

Police have already arrested 12 stolen UDP vessels.

It’s interesting that during searches of the participants of the deal, including the candidate for mayor of Odessa Mykola Skoryk and the deputy of the Odessa regional council from the Opposition platform - "For Life" Vitaly Soutyonkov found millions of dollars, the origin of which becomes clear.

Suspect in Handziuk case is extradited to Ukraine

The head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov promised to crack all the vulnerable cases. And here we see!

Today Oleksii Moskalenko (Levin), suspected of assault on Kateryna Handziuk, is extradited to Ukraine from the Republic of Bulgaria. The aircraft with the suspect on-board just landed in Kyiv.

In accordance with the established procedure, the National Bureau of Interpol took the suspect and handed him over to SBU and Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine.

After his arrival to Ukraine, Moskalenko (Levin) is to be placed to temporary detention facility. The form of detention will be chosen in the nearest future.

“We keep our promise and now we are approaching the final stage in Kateryna Handziuk case. This is a principal issue for us. The extradition of the suspect will accelerate the investigation. This case should illustrate that everyone, who commits a crime is to be punished according to the law,” stated Ivan Bakanov.

To remind, the suspect Levin was detained in January on the territory of Bulgaria as a result of joint special operation of the Bulgaria law enforcement, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Prosecutor General’s Office. The suspect escaped from Ukraine in August, 2018, after that he was put on international wanted list. As SBU investigators previously reported, allegedly, Levin is a key figure, who ties together the executors (“Torbin group”) and those, who ordered the assault. The investigation claims that Levin encouraged Torbin to make the assault and provided the necessary information, in particular, Kateryna’s address.

SBU detains member of ISIS

The head of the Security Service of Ukraine Ivan Bakanov stated about activation of SBU activity in counterintelligence and combating terrorism!

Now we really can see great success!

SBU detained a member of the ISIS in Kyiv, who is on the international “wanted” list.

According to intelligence, the foreigner illicitly came to Ukraine to evade criminal responsibility for membership in ISIS illegal armed formations. He joined an ethnic organized group in Ukraine involved in committing grave crimes and felonies.

SBU officers detained the offender on a Kyiv street.

The detainee is in custody pursuant to decision of the Shevchenkivskyi District Court of Kyiv. Prosecutor's Office initiated extradition proceedings.

Operation was conducted jointly with Kyiv Prosecutor's Office no.10.

Zahorodniuk: return of captured ships by Russia is execution of decision of Maritime Tribunal

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Andrii Zahorodniuk considers the return by Russia of the Nikopol, Berdyansk and Yana Kapu tugboats captured in November last year as the implementation of the May decision of the International Maritime Tribunal.

Zagorodniuk wrote in his Telegram-channel:

“The return of boats and a tugboat is not an act of goodwill. I see these events as nothing more than the implementation by the aggressor state of the May decision of the International Maritime Tribunal”.

He noted that after receiving the vessels, experts will inspect them and give recommendations on how to return them to service as quickly as possible.

“We will continue to build a capable navy that will protect Ukraine. This is the key to stability in the region,” - the Minister of Defense emphasized.

For his part, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that there is no connection between the decision of the International Tribunal and the transfer of ships to Ukraine by Russia.

SBU detains one of ISIS key leaders

As a result of joint special operation of the Security Service of Ukraine with foreign special services in Kyiv region, one of the key leaders of the terrorist organization Islamic State was detained.

According to obtained information, a Georgian citizen, nicknamed as Al Bara Shyshani, held a post of Amir of the Jamaat “Ahadun Ahat” in the Latakia province of the Syrian Arab Republic from 2012. In 2013, he held one of the highest positions at ISIS, the deputy military Amir known as Abu Umar al-Shishani. In 2016, when the military Amir was killed, Al Bara Shishani went to Turkey, where he continued to coordinate the activities of the terrorist organization.

In summer 2018, the terrorist illegally arrived in Ukraine using a fake passport. Due to possession of the forged documents, he obtained the legal status in Ukraine.

According to available information, while in Ukraine, the terrorist continued to coordinate the ISIS special centers, so-called the Amniyat.

Law-enforcement officers detained the criminal near the private residence in Kyiv region where he lived.

The facial recognition confirmed that the detainee is indeed the wanted ISIS leader. The terrorist is arrested for extradition purposes.

The information regarding  his affiliation to the crimes on the territory of Ukraine shall be verified.

SBU on regular basis effectively cooperates with partnership special law-enforcement bodies to detect  and neutralize terrorist threats timely.

Ivan Bakanov: SBU is not a Vatican, not a state in a state, there will be no separate laws and elected

Ivan Bakanov is one of the most mysterious top officials of the new government. During the first six months of his job, the head of the SBU did not give any interviews. And his solitary comments are a standard of restraint and prudence. This style is very suitable for the head of the special service, but it does not fit into the usual image for the representatives of the ZeTeam: chatty, humorous, ready for bright actions, outrageous and even informative provocations.

Despite all this, Bakanov is hardly the main character of incredible rumors about relationships within a powerful team. The dramatic stories of fights involving the head of the Security Service of Ukraine and even poured teeth were spread by journalists. The victim of the heavy fist of Bakanov is most often the head of the President's Office, Andrei Bogdan. All Bogdan's teeth, despite the rumors, are still in place, and Bakanov's fists are intact.

Bogdan did not impose candidates for deputies - Zelensky chose the chief investigator. “Neskoromny appeared in the candidates for the position before Bogdan advised him. Recruitment work is a big job, I have to review hundreds of personal files and questionnaires... It's hard for me to impose something, but it is impossible for the president to impose.”

With the former deputy Bukharev, “differed in opinion.” “I made a presentation (on Bukharev’s dismissal - ed.), The president understood the argument and decided. Let’s say this: we didn’t have the strategic vision of reforming the Security Service. The SBU is not the Vatican, it’s not a state in the state, there will be no separate laws and elected ones. How much money the head of the SBU receives. “57,000 UAH... This is not the smallest salary in Ukraine ... But this is not about me. You look at the level of salaries of SBU employees and you will understand that people who protect our country simply cannot physically live on such a salary”.

Department “K” (economic crimes) awaits liquidation. “I set the task for the Service employees who wrote the draft of the new law so that the words “economy” and “corruption” were not in the text at all... And with this task they almost coped, it seems to me that there is only once the word “corruption” sounds - in the section on the principles of the SBU, it says “zero tolerance to corruption of SBU employees.”

The SBU is cleaned from corruption by audit. “What we are doing for self-cleaning, we conduct an audit within the Service ... I don’t know what other body, besides the SBU, conducts such an audit, but we have certain successes and results ... We transferred the materials to the State Bureau of Investigations of Ukraine.”

Bakanov came to a meeting of the Servants of the People faction with folders for deputies. “Indeed, I had two kinds of folders: with implementations for the next week - there were pretty powerful surnames, and just empty folders. I asked the deputies not to migrate empty folders to filled folders... Nobody really scares anyone, of course. Everyone knows my position: for me there are no equal and more equal.”

Yes, investors are important, but they must to be responsible ... How the plant managed to get permission to increase emissions is a mystery to me. Popular «patriotic» groups in social networks can be supervised by the FSB - SBU officer

The Kremlin’s aim is to undermine, exhaust, bleed and split Ukraine. For this the aggressor country tirelessly and continuously fights with us on all fronts. And literally - fighting in the Donbass, and stealthily, including creating pseudo-patriotic groups in social networks and throwing fake information there, so as to influence the minds of our fellow citizens and incite them to anti-Ukrainian/pro-Russian campaigns.

Of course, the work in the virtual space is in full swing and is paid off. However, their efforts are often undermined by employees of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Anyone can fall into the artful set traps of the Russian special services, said «FACTS» an operational officer of the Department of counterintelligence protection of state interests in the field of information security of the SBU Oleg Samoilenko.

“If the third part conducts such activities correctly and purposefully, it can really bring us to a civil war” – said Oleg.

The SBU officer underlines that one of the most striking examples of such technologies is the activity of a citizen of the Russian Federation, Sergey Zhuk (aka Stepan Mazur, aka Mykola Gaiduk). In February 2017, we exposed him and blocked accounts that he created and administered in social networks: Patriots of Ukraine, Ukrainian Revolution, All on the Maidan, Promotion of the Revolution of Guidance, Maidan-3, We - patriots of Ukraine ”. The total audience of these accounts has reached half a million users.

Well, Zhuk didn’t calm down - he is again fruitfully working on the previous field. We even noted his progress in Ukrainian language. Now in his texts there are no typical errors.

We know almost everything about Sergey Zhuk: his date of birth, place of living in Moscow, his biography, habits, his mobile phone number and more.

He was a social activist – fought against pedophilia, advocated the death penalty for perverts. He is also a skinhead (and twice brought to administrative responsibility, once - for causing serious bodily harm). We suppose that during the rallies and actions he was noticed by the special services of the Russian Federation and recruited.

In 2014-2015, Zhuk was in Donbass. He fought on the side of the fighters of the “DPR”, code name “Moscow”. At that time, he posted in his personal page many photos from Donetsk. He liked to pose with arms in his hands. It is known that he participated in the torture of our prisoners of war - heartbreaking videos were posted on his YouTube channel.

So, returning home after the war, Zhuk was retrained as a fighter in the information front, began to “mow” under the Ukrainian patriot, who was fighting for peace in Ukraine.

It was established that in order to destabilize and aggravate the situation in Ukraine, on the eve of the presidential and parliamentary elections, Zhuk created a new large project - the Ukrainian National Patriot group. It is registered on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube. Thereby it is represented in the most popular social networks now. And for the distribution of particularly important messages, Zhuk actively uses messengers - Telegram and Viber.

Zhuk created not only the Ukrainian National Patriot group, but also smaller publics - The Radnik of the President of Ukraine (over twenty thousand subscribers), The Verkhovna Rada of the 9th calling (six thousand people), 73% of us (two thousands), “Clown” (about a thousand, the other day the page was blocked), “Nі kapitulyatsії” (already deleted), “Truth about the ATO and about Maidan” (over a thousand people), “UPA March“ Zakhistimo Ukrainsky Zemlyu Land ”(also already deleted).

This group actively writes about actions and rallies that organize real national-patriotic movements. For example, the information about the “No capitulation!” action was posted by Zhuk immediately after it appeared in genuine accounts.

So he has 170 thousand subscribers only on Facebook. These are residents of Kyiv, Kharkov, Dnipro, etc. - from all over Ukraine.

How Russians are gaining an audience to disseminate the information they need?

Recruitment specialists of the Russian security service study the profile of the object in social networks, his photos (according to them you can understand what his financial situation is), everything that he places on his page, then is added to his friends, he actively comments on his remarks. If a person supports the ideology of the so-called Russian world, the task is much simpler.

That’s why, you should learn to verify any information. It's not hard. If it’s a real user, you can always find his photos, some data about him, texts and videos that he publishes, “like” or “super” marks. And when there is only one photo in the account and a couple of replicas, you should immediately beware. If you are invited to a group, find out who is its administrator and carefully study its profile. Now tech support Facebook puts a blue checkmark on the pages of groups. This means that verification has been carried out and the page is genuine (which makes it impossible and significantly reduces the chances of spreading false, distorted and fake information).

You also need to pay attention to how information is dispersed from these fake accounts. If it is full of comments by experts or combatants, it does not hinder to check whether such a unit, or a soldier, or an expert exists. Having spent time, you will protect yourself in the future.

To summarize, the SBU officer Oleg Samoilenko said that the Ukrainian security service have studied Russian methods pretty well, and know how to counteract them, have learned to snap, work in advance, and conduct Ukrainian information campaigns. The SBU is creating new modern units, trying to strengthen the cyber security of Ukraine. These are small steps, but these steps are forward!
