I think the worse part about people claiming Steven Universe forgives Nazis, is if people just criticized how boring it is that every single villain got redeemed or how anti climatic it is that they didn't actually defeat the villain, I could at least understand that.
It's the fact that people decided that the diamonds who are the pretty typical cartoon alien villains who want to take over the earth in a kid's show, MUST represent Nazis SPECIFICALLY, and therefore the main character MUST be a Nazi sympathizer.
And like, you do have story driven kid shows like Avatar and Owl House were the villains are VERY OBVIOUSLY meant to represent real world colonizers. In both shows they take inspiration and draw parallels to real world oppression.
Avatar with Japanese colonization where one nation took over other, and Owl House with the witch trials where outsiders were persecuted. Both of these shows CHOSE real world issues to build their theme around. In this case, redeeming these villains would be HORRIBLY distasteful, to say the least.
And then you have story driven kid shows like Steven Universe and Amphibia. Where the villains are giant space aliens, and a giant newt king. Imagine if people went around saying "Guys King Andrias is LITERALLY supposed to be Hitler!!!'
Anyways
#they saw a show where our hero is a sensitive boy enthusiastic and curious about the world#that loves and admires and wants to be like his all femme presenting warrior family#as well as his laid back not sucessful by 'standard' means dad#that went out of its way to go into how war is traumatizing and how communication and community and forgivness#is an extremly effective way for people to grow and bring even more positive change into the world#with very very interesting sci-fi evil empire to explore which had the fortune of being able to heal thanks to love#and decide 'this show is fucking lame and cringe but sjw don't mind being called that so lets us just call en nazis'#like... LIKE?!? this is such a radically queer show to have gotten as big ss it did at the time it did#not just fue to the presence of sapphic relationships and non-binary characters#but sooo much of it is queer#again just steven alone being a sensitive in tune with his emotions kind boy who doesn't mind crossdessing#our boy protagonist tm in this sci-fi adventure comedy show is a kind soul like many other shonen protagonists#and still it goes beyond that in so many ways#his unconventional family structure#how gems forge identity outside if what they were made to be#the relationship gems have towards fusion#grahhh#everytime I remember how much I love this show I get so frustrated about how overhated it is#and people that hate future because steven was acting weird#like he is literally suffering from ptsd and the season looks about the ways steven is going about it in harmful ways#and how being honest with his loved ones and asking for help and his pain being acknowledged by his community#is what he needed to heal#like... LIKE#such a radically queer hopeful tender show and people see cartoon villains not getting blasted and saying 'a yes nazis'#aaaughhh#steven universe I will always care about this show#it was ghe most gentlest positive way I could further explore queer themes while I was still in catholic school#and it was my best tool to find fellow queer people while enduring that oppresive indtitution#and it was a great tool to help younger students unlesrn homophobia and the instinct to other and shame others

The sentences "Asexuals can still have sex" and "Aromantics can still date" need to go up on the high shelf for everyone except aces and aros talking about their own experiences. From now on, everyone else has to use the revolutionary new phrase "Asexuals and aromantics can do whatever the fuck they want forever."
#as an aroace that was in a romantic relationship for five years and would still like a life long committed qpr where romance happens#yeah >:v

post: el problema es el capitalismo
half of the people in the notes, predictably: good word!😱 it appears that, despite not being fluent in spanish, i have this strange intuition🧠 that “problema” means “problem” and “capitalismo” means “capitalism!”☝️ from there, i think🤔 i can put these words together to infer that this post says “the problem is capitalism!” 🤯🤯🤯 truly, this post transcends language!🙌

I could NEVER be one of those ppl complaining about the classic undertale characters being “irrelevant” in deltarune. I find the way deltarune highlights each of their flaws through their much more mundane lives so fascinating
#yesssss#it is excellent#i really like asgore's portrayal too#people might focus on how his insistence is making toriel uncomfortable (valid point)#but i really really like how asgore who lost his job and house was given another oportunity by carol#who let him rent a flat and an entire business so he can get back on his feet#and asgore just goes and gifts flowers#you can find a note of carol warning him to stop gifting flowers and to sell them#and i am certain asgore will not#he loves sharing the flowers he grew with everyone to his own detriment#and I suspect he is doing this too as a way to 'correct' what might have happened before#but it isn't really solving anything#and if he trusts he can keep doing this because he will show just this one thing and toriel will accept him back#then no wonder he is not selling the flowers#all very kind actions and overtly positive naive thinking#this is hurting his family#he is still making toriel uncomfortable#he is a precarious pocision I'm sure Kris isn't happy to see him in#he doesn't have the means to support his kids outside from promising special ocasssions to them#probably isn't helping his buddy rudolph recover since he is gifting away flowers and not working towards a real solution on Carol's dime#like asgore buddy.... you have good intentions and a lot of your actions are kind#but they come to your own detriment aren't really working towards solving the problem and it is still affecting your loved ones#I really like what little we've seen of undyne too#but oup i'm running out of tags X3#with her i just like how her impulsiveness and how gun ho she is about things is seen a little more inconvenient#to everyone around her in deltarune since the setting is so mundane and can't accomodate a kingdoms hero worth of antics

apologies this happened yesterday in a very busy city downtown i'm just visiting so you'll have to trust my word :')
i just saw a mural of a couple kissing and I have no evidence but just based on vibes.... i suspect it is a latam case of the honored tradition of "trace art off the internet or an ip for comercial use" and it is traced off of the infamous quackbur/tnt duo kiss

Tbh as a non-American, reading media set in USA sometimes feels like you stumbled into a fanfic fandom-blind and there's naturally no exposition about the setting because you're supposed to be aware of it. But you're not so you just nod along and hope it's not relevant to the story. Like the characters being from different states probably has some significance to their backstory but it's never explained. The story being set in this state also probably has some significance but it's also not explained. Being in this diner/shop/Americanism-store thing whatever probably has some context clues (is it supposed to be posh? Common? Cheap? Accessible? Old-fashioned?) but it is also not explained. It's like when you're reading a new scifi/fantasy story and there's a hundred new terms but you can't extrapolate their meanings from context clues/flavour text because they just give you a name and you're like "cool, dunno what that means at all".
#veeery true#and then if you get too good at parroting this storylines and try to adapt them to your context you suddenly realize very specific storyline#happen how they happen because they happen in the states and suddenly they make no sense in your context#and you have to take a step back like why is the story not working ... oh the americaness this trope has baked in#in a class about narrative podcast a group made an action movie style one that would follow an actiom#movie thru line#but it sucked and made no sense and when i sat to review it with a friend#it was like 'oh the gangs here don't work like they do in usa and the way this person is acting... makes no sense when in context of-#-our geography and what their social class and context would suggest they behave like'#if you start watching foreign cinema and series you quickly realize just how formulaic hollywood is and how many formulas only make sense#in the states#thats soft power and cultural colonization for you

You know what is Operation Cóndor?
Yes
No
No but I'm bald and don't want to accept it/See results
#never forget#usa imperialism in the region extends beyond operación condor#reasons for operación condor and violence in latam extend beyond just stopping leftist goverments#usa feared communism spreading through the region#they also needed compliant goverments that would let them exploit and plunder our lands#all the fruit in wacky recipies on housewives cookbooks of the 50s? acquired by letting chiquita company get away with anything on latam#taking lands from owners#massacring workers demanding better play#to this day traces of violence remain#coorporations still plunder#the likes of elon musk can support a coup in bolivia to control cobalt access to his shitty cars and admit it openly#usanite tourists come and take advantage of vulnerable communities to indulge in sex tourism and raping kids#the ones that move to our countries with their usd salaries drive gentrification up and force locals to move#for a hundred years usa has exploited plundered and disrispected latam#thats why gringo even if it is use neutrality can so often fell hostile#it is to a degree#perdono pero nunca olvido#a lot of books of the latin american movement and associated from the 50s - 70s focus on the effects of yankee imperialism#hell there is a subgenre of latam novels called 'dictator novels' that focus on how devilish and seemingly how hopelessly powerful-#-dictators instilled by operation condor are#mr.president and the autumn of the patriarch are just some that come to mind#the fun magical realism people enjoy this days it is an adaptation of the one born in latam to express#how absurd our reality is how we deal with past and present violence in our mixed heritage culture#and plenty of that violence and precariety the genre looks at was caused by the usa#did you know companies like nestle and cocacola can areive places buy water rights and prohibit people from collecting rainwater#to force control over access to water so people are forced to buy their bottled water?#or how mining conpanies are comfortable paying hitmen to kill enviromental advocates and leaders (often first nation people) so they don't-#-oposse biodiverse regions being mined?#it is history and it is current reality

Being the sex repulsed ace in the friend group (made mostly up by bisexuals) is so funny.
If I'm bored I can just look up my friend's latest fictional crush and send them thirst edits and I get to watch them die in 4k in chat
