Oh… oh wow. I am so very embarrassed to say I have actually spoken to one of the people who created that. That’s a bit excessive, isn’t it? I mean, yeah, what do we expect from Reddit, but still! Just don’t play at that point? And a lot of it was literally just, “we want our choices to mean something.”

I was thinking the same thing!!! Like can you imagine if nobody picks mc and they think she’s gonna leave but then another islander comes out? And this time he is only interested in mc and actually treats her right?? I know that’s highly unlikely based on the spoilers but…. Man we can dream huh?

I have not been keeping up on spoilers, but I’m not surprised. the Suresh/Alfie storylines have had too much content for fb to let us get invested into somebody else already.

Who do you think is gonna pick mc? Honestly I don’t see anyone recoupling with us. I was thinking maybe eddie but then that would most likely mean that Dana would leave but since she’s a love interest I doubt it’ll be her. And I don’t think it’ll be kat leaving either based on the things we’ve seen. So I guess that leaves meera or arlo? I’m gonna assume that Suresh (unfortunately for us on his route) will pick arlo and alfie will pick mc. I don’t know though but it seems like alfie is the only one who is torn on who to pick that we know of so far. I just want it to be casa amor already so I can find someone who actually likes mc lol

The LITG writing is fine if you shiw interest in Suresh. Otherwise, it feels like MC is constantly being gaslighted into a relationship with that guy. Doesn't help that the fandom is a pretty toxic place when it comes to WoC. It's gotten so bad that I had to mute Dana's name to avoid racist comments. The LITG community is no help at all when you are a queer woman of color. People are asking Fusebox why the female LIs are black with their whole chest. Bigotry is the norm and it's so widespread

anon, I wholeheartedly agree with your take on the writing. it has improved since S3/4, but it’s so Suresh focused that it takes away from players who want to explore other routes.

as for the racism issue, it’s present. I don’t exactly feel like the best person to speak on it - I stick to the main litg tag and what my mutuals share, and won’t go within spitting distance of the fusebox games subreddit. surround yourself with good people, you know? maybe that makes me blissfully ignorant, but I’m here to simp over pixels, not philosophise on deeply-rooted societal issues.

regardless, I really appreciate you sharing your piece on this, anon! I don’t want you to take my half-assed response as your points not being valid or important - they absolutely are 💛

okay but here is the real issue with S5.

it’s not Love Island: The Game.

it’s a visual novel about a reality tv show that vaguely resembles Love Island.

have we made a single decision yet? even one thing that influenced the story? every choice that pops up is a) yes b) no c) maybe/I’m not sure, and aside from a line back in response, it doesn’t change the conversation. Alfie pursues you whether you entertain him or not. Eddie is a sneaky snake whether you give him something to gossip about or not. being Suresh’s ex is our only personality trait.

and I’m not even mad at it, honestly. the writing is better. the characters have backstories. so far, nobody seems to have shared dialogue (probably because your dialogue is 100% predetermined) and that’s fine because the fandom will once again provide with headcanons and fics and everything will be FINE.
