julien
Uh oh. As soon as Julien said what he had to say, he watched as Ivyâs face flashed from frustrated to hurt and then back to frustrated and so on. He hadnât meant to hurt her feelings or upset her. It was the opposite, really. âNo, I think you can make your own decisions and stuff, and obviously it matters what you want,â he said defensively, squeezing his eyes shut as he tried to string together a coherent sentence out of his jumbled thoughts, âbut your dad and your agentâŠtheyâre like older and wiser and have been in the industry andâŠI donât know! Donât you think maybe they know what theyâre talking about and stuff?â He finally opened his eyes to look at her at that point, instantly regretting having said anything at all. âOf course it matters,â he said quietly, tenderly, as he wrapped his arms around her again and shrugged, âI donât wanna be away from you. I justâŠdonât want you to likeâŠlament me or whatever.â As she expressed her frustration with him, he kept his eyes downcast and nodded to show he was listening. âCanât both of those things be trueâŠ?â he stammered out in response to her question. As Ivy put her foot down and told him what she wanted, Julien took a deep breath and decided to ignore the nagging in his heart and just accept it. âOkay,â he relented, forcing a smile as his nod became more enthusiastic, âokay, if thatâs what you want. I justâŠas long as youâre not just doing it because of me and stuff.âÂ
đ±
âi donât care if they know more, jules.â ivy borderline whined at him. maybe they did know more and what was best, but ultimately, ivy was eighteen now. she was an adult with a job, and an apartment, and a boyfriend she loved more than anything else. it was important for her to preserve those things. with julienâs arms around her though, and tucked into his chest, it was hard to want to continue this argument. instead, she gently corrected him, âresent, lament is like when somebody dies.â her whispers soon turned to quiet and for a moment, ivy just stood. going to LA meant no more friday nights with dinner, no visiting him during school, no standing together in silence like this. would anybody in their right mind what to forfeit that? she didnât think so. âi love you.â ivy said simply, slipping away slightly only to meet up for a sincere kiss. parting from him fully now, she took his hand and began tugging him back inside, ânow letâs go have fun.âÂ
THE END.

Rocky rolled his eyes and refused to acknowledge her question about his intelligence by answering it. As she explained whatever the fuck happened with Eli and LJ though, he looked at her like she was the dumb one. âWait, what the fuck? Theyâre not together?â then what the fuck brown haired chick was LJ dating then? Ultimately it didnât matter. Rocky hadnât paid much attention to his peers in high school and that habit of not caring was definitely only amplified by not being in the country and briefly deleting his instagram. When Ivy got up and slid into Rockyâs booth, he pinched the bridge of his nose and almost immediately regretted engaging her in the first place. At her question, he cleared his throat slightly and clicked his tongue. âIâm not sure,â he admitted, glancing down at his laptop for a moment before closing it, âmy dad wants me to stick around, but my girlfriend is in Spain. Then thereâs college.â He rolled his eyes a bit as his shoulder slumped, âitâs all up in the air.â Rocky was beyond tired of talking about himself after the weekend, so he was happy to give Ivy the thing she loved so much: the spotlight. âYouâre inâŠâ he really had to think about it, âNew York? Still bossing around Schuester and doing all that glee club shit?âÂ
đ±
finally. it felt like after maybe twenty years, rocky actually had something useful to sayt in the form of a question about her. the girlfriend and europe stuff was cool or whatever, but he honestly just seemed kind of sad when he talked about it, which was really killing her mood. still not one to have much of a filter though, she told him just that. âyou seem kind of stressed and like, my heart goes out to you for that, but iâm kinda worried about my own career path at the moment, and i just canât take on your problems for you. but definitely donât stay in lima, itâs where losers go to die.â ivy concluded with a sigh, then blinked in rockyâs direction. âiâm literally on broadway.â she deadpanned, then shook her head with a quiet, ugh. âand yes, julienâs still my boyfriend.â a curious look crossed her expression, then she proceeded to ask, âso why didnât your girlfriend like, come home with you?âÂ

When Julien finally looked at Ivy, his eyes softened as he instinctively wrapped his arms around her. If this whole situation wasnât so messed up, maybe he wouldâve found what she was saying kind of sweet. At the end of the day, it was nice that she didnât want to be without him. He felt the same way. But there was something nagging at him. Something wasnât right about all this. âBut why arenât you going?â he asked again as a sad smile crept on to his lips, âdonât you think that maybe you should go and stuff? It just likeâŠI donât know, legsâŠit seems kind of important or something.â Julien brought his hands up to Ivyâs face and tenderly brought his lips to hers. Feeling like it was important to clarify, he told her, âI donât wanna be without youâŠbut Iâm also always gonna be here, you know? LikeâŠif your dad and Casey and whoever else thinks LA is gonna be good for you and stuffâŠâ Julien didnât know how to articulate what he was feeling. âIâm just saying I would support you because I love you and I believe in you and stuff.â And then, dropping his head for a moment to collect his thoughts before pressing his lips to her forehead, he shrugged, âI canât be the reason why you donât go.âÂ
.
suddenly ivy found her and julienâs rules swapped. in an instant, she felt slightly hurt, and very frustrated that he was encouraging her to go. âare you joking?â she asked, face stiff. that obviously wasnât the case, so ivy didnât hesitate to unleash her own onslaught of questions onto julien, âdo you not think that iâm capable of making my own career choices? like, why does it matter what casey and my dad think, doesnât it matter what i want?â the longer she spoke, the quicker her pace became as she stared at him in disbelief. then the frustration gave way to hurt, âdoes it not matter to you that we arenât like, in the same city?â she asked, shaking her head. ivy was no doubt frustrated, but it was tender, rather than destructive. a change. âi just donât understand that one moment youâre totally upset that i wasnât forthcoming, but now you think i should just go? jules, cmon. i wanna be in new york, i wanna be with you.âÂ

Rocky wasnât sure if Ivyâs comment about her yelling was supposed to get him to ask questions or something, but he truly, wholeheartedly didnât care, so he just kind of shrugged at her and vaguely shook his head. âYeah, didnât notice,â he reiterated, a disinterested smirk tugging at the corners of his lips as he stared at Ivy. Again, at her question, he shrugged. How the fuck was he supposed to know why she would or wouldnât be in Lima? As she turned the conversation to him, Rocky chuckled dryly and cleared his throat. âI wasnât farming,â so Ivy had gotten somehow stupider since high school, âI was backpacking.â He sighed and looked down at his laptop, âanywayâŠcan you watch my shit?â He didnât really give her a chance to answer before he gave her a pat on the back in lieu of a âthank you,â and excused himself. After dicking around outside of the Lima Bean and stretching for a few minutes, he settled back into his seat and tapped Ivyâs shoulder again. âThanks,â he said, but just as the words came out of his mouth, he caught a glimpse of LJ walking outside of the Lima Bean which meant she was probably going home to her apartment withâŠSterling. Instantly, Rocky clenched his jaw and decided to embrace the distraction that was Ivy St. James. âYour sister still fucking that chick or what?â Rocky asked, gripping the back of Ivyâs chair and turning it slightly so she was kind of facing him, but more importantly, so she could see LJ outside the window.Â
.
groaning, ivy rolled her eyes as rocky went for a weirdo walk or whatever. she was most definitely not watching his stuff. turning her back with a hmph! she didnât acknowledge his existence until he made a comment about lj and her sister. âew no, did you like get dumber since we graduated or something?â she asked shaking her head. âthey literally broke up when we were still in school, donât you read the muckraker, or like, keep tabs on peopleâs instagrams?â the answer was likely a no, but ivy couldnât imagine her life without two of her favorite hobbies. getting up from her own booth, ivy shamelessly slid into rockyâs. if he was looking for a conversation, ivy wasnât going to get a crick in her neck just to indluge him, âso are you like, in lima for good?â

beyond being the guy who took her v-card freshman year and her co-anchor on the titan times, rocky remington was pretty much nobody to ivy st.james. while she was definitely interested in why he fell off the face of the earth, she wasnât interested enough to notice that he had been sitting near her in the lima bean while she took a work call with her agent. it was in relation to some upcoming audition sheâd have to fly out to LA for that she was hellbent on missing for julienâs showcase. hungover, and irritated, ivy groaned into the phone, âcasey i literally told you like, a trillion times, iâm not making a mistake and you seriously need to stop pushing this--â feeling a tap on her shoulder, she felt relieved to have an excuse to hang up. âgotta go!â she said, then ended the call. turning around, she was met face to face with rocky. huh. âiâm kinda surprise the yelling didnât totally tip you off, but okay.â rolling her shoulders, she answered back, âduh! of course i was there. why else would i be in lima?â ivy rolled her eyes as if it were obvious. âi was honestly convinced you werenât gonna be there though. like, arenât you supposed to be off in argentina becoming a farmer or whatever? i read that on JBIJâs blog.â
OPEN STARTER
WHO: rocky remington & @crhqstartersâ
WHERE: the lima bean
WHEN: sunday, 4/25
After graduating high school, Rocky Remington ditched his college plans and took a gap year to travel. It wasnât what his father, the principal of McKinley High and Quinn Fabrayâs new husband, wanted for him, but it was his choice and for the first time? He did what he wanted to. Rocky was enjoying backpacking around South America and the only reason why he was back in Lima at all was because of his fatherâs wedding. The weekend had been full of reunions and small talk and celebrations of all kinds. Come Sunday, Rocky was hung over and just exhausted. The jet lag was finally catching up to him and, more pressingly than that, the stress of not knowing his next move was starting to settle in. Was he going to go back to South America? Was he going to go somewhere else? Was he going to stay in Lima? Hit up Northwestern about his deferment and actually go to college? He had no clue. So, with his laptop cracked open and a cold brew in hand, Rocky was posted up at the Lima Bean trying to plan out the next few months of his life. He wasnât sure how long heâd been sitting for, but he was starting to feel frustrated. He needed to take a walk. With an exasperated sigh, Rocky tapped the personâs shoulder sitting behind him and asked, âexcuse me, do you mind watching my stuff for a second?â It was only then that he realized who it was. âOh shit,â he said, this time more casual, âdidnât realize it was you.â And then, scratching his head, âdid I see you at the wedding this weekend?â

Julien wasnât sure what hurt worse: Ivy confirming that these plans were kind of legit or the fact that she had made all of these decisions without ever talking to him about it. They were supposed to be a team, and while ultimately decisions about her future were hers to make, Julien liked to think that they were at the stage in their relationship of building a future together. Ivy withholding high stakes information like this felt like a big deal. Â
As Ivy began her long winded information dump, Julien stood against the balcony railing with his mouth agape. His stare went from blank to hurt the longer she spoke. âSo youâve likeâŠbeen having these conversationsâŠâ he found her eyes and held her gaze, âwith your agent, with your dad. Just not with me.â This whole situation had totally blindsided him. âIt kind of does really matter, Ivy. Itâs likeâŠyour life! Itâs your career!â The use of her first name, which was rare and often reserved for arguments, signified just how upset he really was. Julienâs hands stayed limp when Ivy reached for them and he looked away from her. âI tell you everything. Big, small, everything,â he started with a shrug, âwhy wouldnât you talk to me about this? Do you think I canât handle it and stuff? Does it not matter what I think?â It was only then that Julien actually started processing some of what Ivy had said. âWaitâŠwhy donât you wanna go?â
.
julien was quick to fire questions at her, but ivy only had the answer to one. âi donât wanna go because you wonât be there.â she explained, exasperated. they were long past the days of being sixteen and ivy writing off julienâs feelings because had she been in his shoes, sheâd likely be just as upset. finding it much easier to be honest with julien now than she had in years past, she explained, âiâm sorry i havenât filled you in on these conversations, but i didnât like...see the point in telling you and both of use getting upset about being apart when iâm not going to go...â pulling herself into him, ivy gently prompted, âlook at me? please?â when he eventually did, she locked onto his gaze and repeated herself, âiâm not going.â ivy didnât expect that sentiment to fix his hurt, but at least sheâd made herself clear. quickly after, she added, âand iâm sorry. i do think you can handle it.â it wasnât a great argument, but ivy hoped he would just take her word for it, rather her actions. unfortunately, she had a hunch she wouldnât be so lucky.

Julien had been show choir captain in a high school that worshipped jocks, so he was no stranger to being the butt of the joke or on the receiving end of some pretty harsh jabs. Heâd always been pretty good about letting the insults roll like water off his back, which was why even as his girlfriendâs dad showered him in backhanded compliments and digs, he was able to grin and bear it. It wasnât all the comments about Julien not being as ambitious as Ivy or as talented that ultimately led to him excusing himselfâŠit was all the other stuff. The comments about Ivyâs future plans that she hadnât let him in on.Â
Julien hadnât made a scene when he left the table at the Puckerman-Remington reception. In fact, heâd done it pretty coolly. Heâd said something about needing the rest room and then left, looking back only once to steal a glance at Ivy. Heâd only been standing near the balconyâs ledge for a minute or so before she showed up. As Ivy rambled, Julien stayed quiet, arms crossed over the railing as he stared out at the golf course beneath them. The more she spoke, the more he felt an unfamiliar anger building in the pit of his stomach. At her suggestion that they leave, he did the exact opposite, planting his feet firmly on the ground. âYou think Iâm not used to people telling me all that stuff your dad was saying in there?â Julien asked rhetorically, focusing on Ivyâs promise ring-less finger rather than her eyes, âyou think I donât know thatâs what people think?â He squeezed his eyes shut and let out a scoff, trying to sort through all his jumbled and hurt thoughts, âis all that stuff true? About you? About going to LA after Wild Party?âÂ
.
Once she was actually with Julien, Ivy had rapidly realized the mistake she had made in assuming he was upset about her Fatherâs harsh comments. Thoughts slipping off her tongue, she responded, âOh. That.â There was no way that response was doing much to soothe his worries, but he was obviously upset, and Ivy wasnât really sure how to make things okay. It seemed they were doomed for dramatic confrontations on this damned balcony. âItâs true.â she confessed, then quickly added, âBut I like, donât wanna go!âÂ
Realizing there were maybe some mixed signals being sent, Ivy though the obvious solution was to dumb all the details on Julien at once now, like that would erase the hurt of withholding information in the first place. âCasey wants me to go, and my Dad like, clearly, wants me to. Thatâs the only reason he was so mean to you, by the way. Anyhow, Iâm happy in New York! I like it there! Maybe Iâll sign on with the show for another year. Itâs like, so up in the air and it honestly just like, really doesnât matter. They canât make me do anything.â Grabbing his hands, Ivy looked up at him pleadingly, âAnd you know what I want, donât you?â

candy
Raising an eyebrow when Ivy held up her finger, Candy tilted her head to the side as she thought about what the other was saying. âWait, isnât that like your full name? I wouldnât put it past Rachel St. James to name you Ivanka, it wouldnât be that weird⊠for her at least.â Candy said with a shrug, before she finished off her drink and waved over at the bartender so they could get her another one â she wasnât even sure how many drinks she had at that time, but all that she knew was that she was having a good time with Ivy, so it didnât matter â plus, she was sure that she would get into the apartment safely because she was right there with her roommate, so of course it didnât matter what ended up happening.
âYeah, I donât think I would be a good stripper either. I mean, Iâm a great dancer and Iâm great with a pole, but I think Iâm too short to actually become one.â Candy said as she reached for her drink once the bartender placed it in front of her, quickly taking a sip as she heard Ivyâs idea. Working at Winter Garden didnât seem like a bad idea, but Candy couldnât remember a time where she had worked a day in her life, so of course she had second thoughts. âWhile working together with you does sound fun, I donât know if Iâm made for being an intern. Iâve never worked before, what do interns even do?â She asked, shaking her head at that thought â it wouldnât be a bad idea, but she wasnât even sure what to do. âBut I guess I can give it a try. But if youâre ever a bitch to me, Iâll set your bed on fire. Donât even try it.â Candy said with a small chuckle, before nudging Ivy to show that she was only joking.
-
âno, my name is literally like, just ivy.â she explained, though seemed eager to share the story of how she got it. enthused, ivy rapidly spoke at candy, âmy dad like, really pushed to name me after ten time grammy award winner, blue ivy, since my sister is also named after a celebrity, but my mom like, thought the name blue was totally ugly, so they each got to pick, and honestly made such a perfect name! itâs like i was born to be successful or something!â candy didnât seem very enthused by this revelation, which caused ivy to wilt slightly, the cross her arms. whatever. it was a cool story!
âaw.â ivy stuck out her bottom lip and pouted at candy, âitâs like, really cute that you think i know what interns do, or care enough to even boss you around...â realizing that wasnât exactly selling the job though, she took a sip of her drink then explained, âall iâm saying is like, you donât have to worry about me and youâll honestly probably end up bossing everyone else around, and weâll be coworkers and rommies, and itâll be super fun! yay! cheers!â ivy held up her drink, clinking it against candyâs. it was settled. sheâd talk to whoever was around tomorrow, and text candy she was hired in no time. now, back to a night of taunting the callbacks performers, drinking, and bitching with candy.
THE END.

IGNORE HIM
WHO @julienschuesterâ and ivy st.james.
WHEN sat. 4/24. evening.
WHERE wedding reception.
weddings were starting to become a fun staple in ivy and julienâs relationship. they had been dating during danâs, and now dating during brock and quinnâs. unfortunately though, this night wasnât shaping up to be as magical. sat at a table with her father, who had definitely been drinking was mistake number one. mistake number two was staying long enough to let him run his mouth. there was no amount of pouting or sharply scolding her father with daddy!âs that put an end to his lecturing. from ranting about how the minute her contract was up, she would be best off moving to LA to pointed remarks about nobodys and less ambitious people sitting at the table, it was a nightmare. this nightmare in particular had led to julien excusing himself, and ivy glaring at her father.Â
âtotally cool of you, dad.â ivy said sarcastically as she rose from her seat in a flourish and hurried after julien.Â
the lima country club wasnât too terribly big or confusing, and in no time ivy found julien out on the balcony they had shared new years eve together on only a couple of years ago. instantly, her gaze darted to her hand where the promise ring usually sat. (just not tonight, the red clashed with her dress.) broaching him at the railing, ivy prepared to do some damage control, âlook you just like, canât listen to him jules.â she said, now standing beside him, hand on his back, âmy dad is like drunk, and being dumb, he seriously doesnât know what heâs talking about. heâs just...harsh...you know that.â her words sounded like a promise, all to encourage him to shake it off. verbally nudging julien, ivy then suggested, âletâs like, head back in okay? weâre gonna miss all the fun.âÂ

eli
Eli considered itâŠdid it count? âYeah,â she decided, âshe still dropped out. So she couldnât be mad at me for dropping out.â Anytime Ivy said something was a good idea, Eli had to really reconsider. The two disagreed on so much fundamentally that it was second nature for her to second guess her sisterâŠbut maybe she was making points about this. Luckily, she didnât have to decide in that very moment. âWeâll see,â Eli said as she sipped her drink, casually making eye contact with some stranger who was staring at their table. Breaking her gaze away, she focused on Ivy again once she felt her gentle slap. âItâs pretty sick,â she said casually, not wanting to make a big deal out of something that hadnât fully panned out yet, âbut like I saidâŠweâll see what happens.â Eli let out a snort at Ivyâs indignant question. âLiterally why would I know your agentâs name? I likeâŠactively tune out showbiz talk.â The name was ringing a bell though. Casey WestonâŠCasey Weston. Hm. It didnât really matter did it? As soon as the conversation shifted back to Eliâs love life or lack thereof, she found herself rolling her eyes. âI doubt sheâll cry,â she said with a bitter click of her tongue, âsheâs so emotionally stunted sheâs probably likeâŠblocked me from her memory. Probably doesnât even remember what I look like.â That was enough of that though. Hearing Ivyâs logic about roommates and friendship was enough to push LJ out of her mind. âUmâŠabsolutely I would charge them. I donât care how much I love someone, do not fuck with my bag,â she explained, like it was obvious. âI know we likeâŠhave money, Ivy. But you shouldnât just like let people use you because of it. Do I think Julien Schuester is a gold digger? No, probably not, but stillâŠyou donât want to get into the habit of letting people drain your bank account. And rent at your apartment is expensive, bitch! You should charge at least Candy if sheâs likeâŠfully living there.â A pause. âPlus, isnât she rich? LikeâŠwhy would you be the only one spending money?âÂ
.
âum you would know my agentâs name because you like love and listen to me?â ivy said, scoffing at the idea eli wouldnât pay attention to her each and every word. why wouldnât she? literally everything she said was important. whatever. she could tell eli didnât really want to talk about lj anymore, so for once, ivy gave up the fight against her sister. she was fairly confident that it would manifest somewhere else, in the form of some other argument, but ivy didnât have time to worry about that at the moment. presently, she was trying to defend her own financial choices. âokay, theyâre like, literally not using me. where do you get that idea?â she asked, pout undeniably poking out. in most other instances, ivy liked to think her pout could end wars, but against eli, it meant nothing. âokay you literally say that iâm dramatic yet are grilling me about this! julien doesnât even live there and candy like, sleeps on a couch. it would be so cruel if i made her pay rent for living on a couch. not even iâm that mean.â ivy clarified, taking the last couple of sips of her smoothie, then scooting away from the table. âenough about my apartment though, i like, gotta go and i wanna do it on a good note.â she explained, taking a few steps to recycle her cup. âiâm so proud of you for like being hot and totally killing this modelling stuff! you have to keep me updated because i want to brag about my sister to everyone!â ivy explained, urging her sister for a hug, then swiftly exiting out of the coffee shop. Â
THE END.
