I, as an introject, don't like being called "a double". I personally feel like it implies that the people calling me that term see me as just a copy of my source character. As if I'm not my own person. I am not a "double", because there exists no other versions of *me* out there. Yeah, I am an introject of a fictional character whom other systems have introjected too, yeah I identify a lot with my source, but that doesn't make me a "double" of anyone or them a "double" of me. I guess I am personally tired of being some novelty to other people, because they think I'm their favourite anime character and not a real person. I hope this makes somewhat sense and my perspective as an introject of a popular anime character is to some sort of help
Hi! I'm wondering what exactly "believing in doubles" means? I honestly thought it was just a umbrella term for introjects who have the same source character? Like two introjects who both have character A as a source would be considered doubles? I'm wondering if I'm mis-informed about its usage now or if some systems don't like it being used (genuine question)
Yeah doubles are used to refer to two alters of the same source character, but it can be a harmful term since it sort of waters introjects down to source and tries to claim that two introjects of the same source are exactly the same! (E.g; doubles DNI is pretty harmful, since it plays into the idea that all introjects will be exactly like source when that's just not true)
I guess it really depends how you use it

I never like it when people make blanket statements about DID, this is such a complex disorder and in making blanket statements for everyone with DID you're probably going to be wrong.
DID is mostly covert but there are overt presentations of the disorder. Some alters have similar personalities, some have very different personalities. Sometimes alters feel close together and like there's not a lot of separation between them. Sometimes alters feel completely different from each other and like their own people. Some switches may not be noticeable and other switches may be very obvious.
There are so many different ways of experiencing this disorder and they're all valid.

They hurt you. You will likely carry that for a long time. It wasn’t fair. You’re allowed to say that.
I get so tired of people who respond with “life’s not fair,” or “you’re letting them win by holding onto the past.”
Yes, it’s important to move on and not let it run your life, but it still wasn’t fair. And sometimes, we need to let that out.
Denying us that or making us feel bad about that is very invalidating. It’s okay to be angry, sad or whatever else and acknowledge the wrong that was done to you.
