As you predicted the next two weeks are quieter, but not insignificant. Then big stuff ahead.

I know they have to have down time and I know it's always calm before a storm but 🤧

I was at a friend's gig last night. The set finished well after the last train home, so she let me crash at hers.

As we got to her place, she said, "I know you said you wanted to get to bed, but I think I'm going to make a drink and catch up on my soaps".

And my brain said "be cool, be cool, be cool..."

And my mouth said "Robert's back in Emmerdale, what do you think of that!?"

And then I talked her ear off about soap medical storylines as public service broadcasting for 20 mins

I've been thinking hoping that Danny and Ryan being on leave at the same time even though there's been a lot of speculation that John's downfall is being filmed around now is a sign that Lodge 2.0 is happening.

But then it struck me that if Aaron and Robert went missing from the village, everyone would just assume that they've run off together.

Aaron: If you knew we were missing, why didn't you come after us?

Cain: you were missing together. We know what the two of you are like; no one volunteered to get in the middle of that..!

Mack: I did!

For real so true on the apology plaque, I also feel someone needs to point out to the villagers that this is what happens when you just immediately trust a random stranger because he has a vague unproven connection to someone in the village. Like they were asking for this lmao.

Honestly, having John be a half Sugden is the most unnecessary element of the story to me. I know it's the reason he's in the village and it's adding to the reasons Robert hates him but I don't think it's driving the plot in any other way. I actually thought the duffle bag Rob took to the hospital today might have some family mementos in.

I have a half-sister that I didn't grow up with because she's much older than me, but we recently reconnected and I was surprised at how similar our humor and mannerisms are, especially as our parent-in-common was fairly absent, so it's unlikely we copied him.

Maybe that just proves the attraction to Aaron is written somewhere deep in the Sugden dna.

And I'm quite intrigued by the idea that John isn't a real Sugden and that finding out will be part of hi breakdown

When this is over, I'm going to need an apology to Robert carved in stone and set up on the village green, blue plaques around the village with "here, on this date, Robert Sugden was right", and an annual fête for "we should never have doubted Robert about that creep" day...

Oh, it's going to be so awkward:

"Sticking your nose in and spreading rumours is not going to make me want to get back with ya."

"Believe it or not, that has nothing to do with it! If he's dangerous I need to know. I'm just trying to keep you and Vic and Harry safe!"

Cause like, that's true, but also everyone knows that Robert's sole motivation for doing anything is 'to be with Aaron' so it doesn't matter how honest he is, he's still going to look shifty with it...
