“why does this shit look blue?” the gravel in his voice almost gets caught in his throat as he scoffs. you smile nonetheless, meeting his gaze in the mirror.

“did no one ever teach you about undertones?” he rolls his eyes, which you’ve noticed he does a lot, and tugs on the piece of hair he’s holding slightly. you swear he snickers when you wince, but you decide to ignore it.

“i’m not a fucking hair stylist; don’t even know why i’m doing this for you.” you hum, cocking a brow as you point a smirk at his reflection.

“guess you just love me too much.”

“watch your fuckin’ mouth or i’ll put this shit in your eyes.” his hands tread through your tresses and you can’t help but admire the concentration in his creases.

honestly, you didn’t know why he was doing this for you. bakugo didn’t seem like the pamper type— and no matter how many times he pinned it on his time with best jeanist or how kirishima’s nickname was already shitty hair and there shouldn’t be two of you, you knew it was odd of him to offer.

you couldn’t complain, though, as he lathered dye from down your roots to your slightly split ends (maybe you could convince him to throw in a trim, too).

“i knew being friends with you would pay off eventually.” you wonder if the teasing in your tone would go over his head like it normally does, but you can’t find it in you to care either way.

“fucks that supposed to mean?” he glares down at your scalp, fingers catching in a knot a second later. “and don’t start calling me your friend.” you sigh, grinning at him still.

bakugo can be difficult, especially trying to read him. and maybe, if you weren’t sitting in front of him right now, you would’ve thought he really did hate you. but how could you when he twirls a strand of your hair around his gloved finger before pushing it into the jumbled mess of box black dye and slightly tangled locks?

“thanks for doin’ this.” his movements have a momentary pause before he carries on, grumbling something you can’t quite make out under his breath. your eyes move to his hands, gentle as they comb the color in.

“shut up, idiot.” yeah, he definitely doesn’t hate you.

bakugo & acts of service

—i see a lot saying bakugo wouldn’t really be obvious in his love language or just talking ab him not being affectionate but i disagree strongly.

—mans is just affectionate in his own way! compliments from him are like moderately rare and he’s not going to wake you up with a soft kiss and a sweet pet name but he does a lot for you.

—actions speak louder than words, no matter how loud his words typically are, and that’s really clear in him.

—he goes to bed at grandma hours so he’s not gonna be there to check if you fall asleep on time, but he will sneak over to your dorm every morning to make sure you wake up on time.

—on that same note, in the morning when he wakes up and checks his phone, if sees he has texts from you from late at night, he’ll make you a cup of coffee and bring it for you to drink before class starts.

—if he’s planning on training late he’ll prep a meal for you and leave it in the fridge. he doesn’t put either of your names on it because he feels like that would be too incriminating and his friends would probably poke fun at him, but it’s virtually known that it’s for you and that if class 1-a wants to live another day to not touch it.

—if you two are hanging out or spending time together and you need to shower, he’ll throw your towel in the dryer and then leave it on the door for you so you have a warm towel to use. (but he has to see a video about it or you have to complain bc he’s not gonna think of that on his own

—he does every favor you ask him. he’s gonna make snide comments about it the whole time and ask why you can’t just do it yourself, but he actually really likes that you feel comfortable enough to come to him to ask for help and he loves being able to be there for you.

—y’all saw how he acted when he had to take out the trash? none of that behavior with you. if he knows you have to do a trash run, he comes up with some bullshit reason for how he’s already going that direction and to just shut up and give it to him before he changes his mind.

—he helps you fold your laundry. you two just talk, and you typically have some show on for background noise, but it’s kind of nice. it’s a domestic moment, and he’s actually pretty mellow during it. being a housewife calms katsuki down smh

—this one isn’t common, but it really needs to be said. he has washed your hair for you. it’s probably circumstantial, like he’s helping you get dye out under the faucet or you’re absolutely shit faced in a bath tub.

—carries bags for you. whether it’s a backpack, or groceries, or something slightly heavy that isn’t even a bad. he doesn’t ask, he doesn’t offer, it’s not a routine, every time he just grabs them before you can or rips them from your hands and if you say thank you he won’t talk to you.

—whenever he goes to the store, he grabs you something. like every time. even if he’s not on his way to see you. he kind of just has a little collection of your favorite snacks and drinks in his dorm from all the times he’s gotten you something
