one of my long running headcannons for Stolen Century is that whenever the crew misplaces Taako he kinda just… invents a new persona for the cycle. And it makes him nigh impossible to find again.
I mean, sometimes, he just opens a restaurant, or starts a weird cult of personality, and those times they can probably track him down. But the rest of the time he ends up in completely random situations/identities, such as;
Fisherman: They found him after a handful of the crew go overboard during a storm. Taako and a crew of alien fisherpeople scooped them out of the water. The aliens thought that Taako’s name was Diego. He kept talking about the sea like he didn’t refuse to go near the water for six months in cycle 56 because he saw a weird, translucent eel in the shallows. He’s wearing bedazzled rubber boots.
Auctioneer: which wouldn’t be too weird if it was just a hussle, but. He seems serious? This is a charity auction? Someone hired him, Taako, to do this. No one knew he could talk fast like that (he’s cheating with a haste spell).
Actual, Literal Doctor: Apparently Taako got admitted to a hospitable and somehow ended up taking over by sheer force of personality. He keeps walking around with a limp and diagnosing people with incredibly rare diseases. He has done so many medical crimes, but somehow he keeps being right.
Truck Driver: Taako has always been the worst driver and yet someone gave him a 80k ton vehicle that he’s not even proficient in. It is absolutely full of candy wrappers and take out. He’s wearing overalls and he keeps saying “over” and “copy” even when he’s talking to the crew face to face. His Trucker Name is Ed.
Judge: The crew didn’t find him until they got into hot water with the local law enforcement and had to go through a hearing. Taako walked into the court room and everyone lost their goddamned minds. He pronounced them guilty on the spot.
HR management: What are you doing at a desk job, Taako? Why aren’t you focusing on our world saving mission, Taako? The new hires aren’t going to make it past probation if we don’t find the Light, Taako. What do you mean we need to sign a form in triplicate? Did you design this form, specifically for this situation? Why does this look good? Your resume was one page of purple comic sans covered in scratch ‘n sniff stickers and cheeto dust. You’re making the Captain cry, Taako.

please welcome newest bog boy family
So Avi Kaplan, the deep-voiced guy in Pentatonix, is doing his solo stuff and I liked this one. He’s definitely moving away from just being The Bass Guy and into more of my favorite line of music, which is the one where people sit in the woods and sing sadly about owls, or sometimes moss.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DArPxJDoIU
“Otherside” will invite comparisons to Hozier, but most of that will be due to him being a handsome beardy guy sitting in a forest soulfully requesting that the underworld pull him down with ivy.
However, that’s honestly quite normal and I have a 20+ song playlist of things that sound exactly like this, so I’m not going to compare it to Hozier. He’s clearly going for Fleet Foxes, with some Iron & Wine.
When he’s not in the terrifyingly-low bass range, Avi sounds weirdly like Neil Young to me - but I don’t know much about music, so I’d have to say it’s the same color and brassy feeling with a distinctive twist in the vocals as they climb or fall. I’ve always liked that.
He is also bringing in some good and grounding Jewish American vibes to the Bog Boy Family, which largely consists of, oddly, Protestant British boys. As much as I love them, there is only so much bluegrass banjo you REALLY want from the British, you know?
Anyway, there we have it.

“Don’t Work with Death!”
“Don’t work with death, because then you invite it into your house.”
Death is already in my house. Death is everywhere. Death is what decays the plant matter that feeds my garden. Death is what feeds the herbs I use in my spells, for each grows from what died before it.
Death is what feeds my family - death of plants, the death of animals. I would not disrespect the spirits of that which feeds us by ignoring their sacrifice.
Death is the veil between my ancestors and myself, keeping them at rest and then acting as the gate for them to step into their next life.
When I do hospice work and sit with someone who is accepting their approaching death, I don’t tell them death is something to fear or avoid. I tell them death is the friend that walked beside them, every step of their life, maintaining the balance of the world, and waiting for them with open arms, to escort them to rebirth.
“Don’t work with death!”
I would not ignore life’s partner, not for arrogance or fear or ignorance. When I go to my own, I want to greet death with respect, acceptance, and gratitude.

HEY GUYS!
My Seven Deadly Sins series is now available on my newly re-launched Etsy page for purchase in both mini-sets (6″x9″) and full sized prints (11″x17″ mini posters!)
As some of you might know, these guys were painted with mostly coffee and are basically my cherished brain-baby from my college years! Each one of them is my own take on the Princes of Hell, done in a “Da Vinci writes a Monster Manual” kinda way!
So if you guys want prints of my original work, I highly recommend you check it out!

Y’all, I’m over here DYING cuz Google suggested me this article about the crisis of backyard chicken keepers– which is that they love having chickens so much that they keep getting more, and then don’t know what to do with all the eggs.
Which I can see how this would be a problem, but it’s just so funny to me because they had interviewed this one guy who started off with 3 chickens, and then kept adding more and more, and eventually started donating the eggs to a local food bank, and at the end of the year when they wrote him a tax receipt, he discovered he’d donated over 400 dozen eggs.
Seriously, it was a whole article talking very seriously about how people are so into chickens that they just keep collecting them like pokemon and then have to “scramble” (their words not mine) to get rid of the eggs, because they weren’t even thinking of egg production, they just loved having chickens.
And while I may be over here laughing a bit too hard, honestly? Big Mood.

Hestia
Hestia is the Greek Goddess of the hearth, home, architecture, the state, and family. She’s also one of the virgin Goddesses who is seen as a protector deity. Legend says that she was originally one of The Big Twelve (or the Olympians, or the council) but she stepped down to keep the peace on Olympus when Dionysus showed up.
General: hearth, home, living flame, architecture, bowl, veils, pantry, keys, pictures of houses you’ve lived in/cool architecture you like, family (chosen family counts) and ancestor stuff
Animals: donkey (ass) and pigs
Plants: Angel’s trumpet (Datura), California poppy, goldenrod, hollyhock, purple coneflower, and yarrow
Perfumes/Scents: angelica, iris, lavender, and peony
Gems and Metals: amethyst, garnet, gold, silver, and brass
Colors: gold, dark rose, lavender, silver, and black
Things To Pray For: protection, inspiration, happiness, guidance, and help getting rid of the home of negative entities
Invocation of Hestia Hail Hestia, Ancient heart Mother Goddess of the Spiritual Flame, We thank you for your constant love and care. We ask that you come and dwell here. Make of our home your home. Make of our hearth your hearth. Make of our temple your temple. Make of our hearts one heart, your heat. Hail Hestia!
Prayer To Hestia Blessed Lady of the Hearth Keeper of the sacred flames of Olympus Enter this home and make it your own Enter and be welcome Bless all who enter here with peace Bless all who dwell here with your protection Grant me and mine your protection That we may always find our way to you
Personal Experience: I have limited experience with Hestia as I haven’t really started practicing with her yet. But the experiences I have had have all been really positive and easy going.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but Hestia is proud of you.
She is proud of your successes, however big or small they seem to you. She’s proud that you kept pushing through, and that you keep pushing through. She’s proud of when you said yes to something, and when you said no. Saying no is a powerful boundary.
She’s proud when you fail too. Failures can be tough, but she’s there by your side and is proud you put yourself out there enough to fail. Failures lead to different successes.
She’s proud of how you handle things, and how you learn. She’s proud of the days where you get some unpleasant, but needed, things done and she’s proud when you choose to spend the day focusing on you.
She’s proud of you for everything you do, even if you feel like you don’t deserve it. All of those things contribute to who you are, whether you are simply surviving it, embracing it, or learning from it.
HESTIA IS PROUD OF YOU.
