Sending love to Stizzy shippers today!! 🦄🧜‍♂️❤️🌈!!! I'm personally not a Stizzy guy but Stede and Izzy are two amazing and well thought out characters and both of them mean SO MUCH to the OFMD Fandom. It only makes sense that a large portion of the fandom would like to see them together.
Wishing you all: hot, funny, sweet fanfic and fanart.

Not meanmisscharles directly implying I'll receive more suicide baiting, possibly implying they'd send it themselves or usher their fans to do it

Might either take a break from tumblr or hand things over to my less active co-mod 👍

lmao, go through meanmisscharles's archives, circa 2015-ish. She was one of the blogs that thought Benedict Cumberbatches' wife and kids were fake and she had some wild-ass takes back then, too. But honestly, you're better off blocking and moving on. That whole circle is all bark and no bite.
LMAO
Yeah, I know, meanmisscharles has said some horrible shit to people in the ofmd fandom. Didn't realize I didn't have them blocked on this blog.
Also not them not realizing I run izzy-anti-archive...

A SECOND RACIST HAS HIT THE IZZY-POSITIVITY! Alright, reblogs are going away now, it was fun.
Anyway. The Izzy the spewer joke is ableist. It was ableist in the show, and it's ableist outside of it too.

I understand, thank you for being reasonable! This post started a big shitshow for me and my inbox so I might turn reblogs off soon, so just know that it wasn't because of you lmao

No, I personally don't think the show took Izzy's disability seriously, as shown by the crew making his prosthetic the marker on his grave. I think the show ATTEMPTED to take it seriously and failed.
I can see that we won't agree on this. That's fine! All I ask is that you accept the fact that many disabled people felt the joke was ableist. You may not be one of those people, disabled or not, but that doesn't make you a bad person or anything!

I'm mostly against the show taking such a moral high ground on other issues yet not calling out the ableism of its characters. Characters get called out for racism, occasionally classism, and other things, so why is it unrealistic to want the same for ableism?
It's the same reason I don't like s1 ep2. It's not that the episode depicted racism, it's that it was handled poorly in my opinion.

You're right that what happened isn't canonically a disability. However, I believe you shouldn't make fun of symptoms of a possible disability either. If there are two people and both show the same symptom, but for only one of them it's because of a disability, why is it okay to make fun of the other one? How would that make the disabled one feel?
I respect that we have different perspectives on ableism. I don't need you to change your mind about the joke, I just want you to understand why several disabled people do find it ableist. That doesn't mean the show is irredeemable, mind you. You can criticize something you like.

Oh, it's Jaskierx! I'm a big fan, I loved the racism you enjoy spreading!
Look. I'm glad you think it's funny, but you'll just have to accept the fact that many disabled people do not. Invalidating their experiences because you disagree with them is just shitty, really.
Anyway, this post is a whole mess now, wow.

Can we stop acting like general Izzy fans are somehow different from these mythologized "Canyonites" or "Izzy Apologists". Both those words were weponized by Izzy antis to dehumanize real people and treat them like shit. Most of them are not the "more extreme version" of Izzy Hands fans.
I, an Izzy neutral person, have been called both those things, despite being one of the first people in the fandom to write about how Izzy was an antagonist and flawed and problematic. I myself felt like I was part of the Canyon because I got really awful anon and non-anon hate for even daring to suggest that Izzy was an interesting character, and therefore felt part of the community that had been created, the "Canyon", to support each other. It was honestly a really wholesome community and I met some really cool people.
But now I see legit Izzy fans trying to somehow appeal to whatever Izzy antis that come their way by saying "Oh, like Izzy is cool and all but don't lump me in we those Caaaanyoniyes or Izzy APOLOGISTS" or "This post that is clearly defending Izzy is NOT for the Canyonites or Izzy Apologists". Who are you really trying to please here? You really think you're gonna get brownie points for this?
Babes, if you're an Izzy fan, you've already been lumped in with the Canyon and Izzy Apologists by Izzy antis. Maybe stop appealing to people who hate you for liking a character (Yes, he is a character, not a plot device) and embrace the side of the fandom that appreciates a fucked up little guy instead of making up imaginary categories. If you don't agree with folks who think Izzy did nothing wrong, just say that, don't use the labels used by people who want to dehumanize and insult us.

If you want to joke about it, cool. But then you also need to understand that people will react to your sense of humor and many will not fucking be cool with it.
Yeah, someone can find racist jokes funny too. Doesn't mean they should be surprised when people don't appreciate that.

Hi! Sorry, the way OFMD handled quite a few things is, in fact, ableist.
And it's important that people are pointing it out so that we can hold the media/creators that we love accountable for things like this, and they can do better in the future.
So, out the gate I'm going to say this: Yes, this is in relation to the Current Discourse™. No, it has nothing actually to do with the very common headcanon that Izzy's got some actual chronic illness or a gastrointestinal disability in canon, so much as the idea that mocking very common symptoms of those issues - even if, in the context of said mocking, it isn't caused by or related to those kinds of issues - is ableist.
For a non-OFMD example: Consider two people doing poorly in their classes, one has a developmental disability and the other maybe just isn't interested in the subject. It's still just as ableist to call the latter 'retarded' as it is to call the former that.
And so the show not challenging those ideas (in a similar way, I might add, to Stede's deriding/mocking Izzy's prosthetic when he was mad at him going unaddressed) does mean it's ableist/enabling ableism. Even if that isn't the intent, it's the impact that matters, and people with disabilities (or who's disabilities share some of the experiences mentioned/depicted) like those that are portrayed in the show the way they are are saying those portrayals hurt them and are ableist.

No, I've talked to other disabled people about this and they've definitely also felt it was ableist. Don't fucking speak over disabled people like this.
According to you, it's okay to make fun of someone who shows symptoms of disability as long as you haven't had confirmation that they're disabled. Why would your opinion then suddenly change if they do have a disability?
"Oh, sorry I mocked you for incontinence, I didn't know you're disabled!"
Okay, so you thought symptoms of disability were funny until a second ago.
