For anyone confused: what is happening in Los Angeles has nothing to do with protests or civil unrest. It also has less to do with immigration than you might think, that’s just the pretext that got us here.
As a city, Los Angeles has always stood directly against what the Trump administration stands for. It is a community filled with Latinos and immigrants of all kinds that consistently votes against MAGA. It is the second largest city in the country and has a well-earned reputation of being liberal.
So Trump decided to attack it.
He needed an excuse to do it. The VERY STANDARD protests against ICE were just that. A flimsy excuse, but one he could point to so those he’s conned would think he’s justified. He may have even escalated ICE operations in Los Angeles to get us to this point.
And every decision he makes is to create more civil unrest to “justify” sending in more armed forces which will create more civil unrest.
This is an attack on an American city by the sitting president because they won’t bow to him like a king. Don’t let anyone tell you different.

it pisses me off SO bad how transphobes have so effectively used sports to launder transphobia and misogyny to people. like does nobody remember like ~5-10 years ago when it was a MAJOR feminist talking point to argue for desegregating sports and going by skill level instead of gender separation??? and now, because so many cis people hate trans people so violently and think we should be excluded from all aspects of public life, you’ve got a whole bunch of women who call themselves feminists laundering misogynistic talking points about how “women are just inherently weaker and worse at athletics than men :(( it’s just biology and women are inherently inferior :(( this is definitely not misogyny that’s unsupported by science, women are just weaker and worse at things :((“ like girl open your ears and listen to what you’re saying!!

I was leaving the doctor's office and saying goodbye to everyone and the office manager said, "Enjoy your weekend. Happy Fahhh..." and then she just went quiet.
She realized mid-sentence that I didn't have any children and that I didn't have a father. It was like she hit the pause button on her brain and wasn't sure how to handle it.
I walked out pretending I didn't hear it.
I figured telling her it didn't bother me and drawing attention would have felt more awkward.
I am very fragile. I won't deny that. But I don't think people understand emotional fragility when it comes to grief. I don't need anyone to pretend I didn't lose my parents. I like remembering they existed.
And there is this thing where people will refrain from talking about their own still-alive parents to keep me from being sad. I am okay with parents not being dead. That isn't necessary.
It's like when people feel like they can't complain about how tired they are around me. YOU CAN! Being tired sucks!
I get upset at the tragic circumstances. Being reminded of the trauma and pain and my brother's neglect and abuse.
But I like talking about my parents and how kind and supportive they were. I like talking about my dad's bad dad jokes. My mom's love of HSN jewelry. They were cool people and I don't want folks to forget who they were.
So I guess my advice when talking to people in grief is to avoid talking about how a loved one died.
Instead, talk about how they lived.
Be curious and interested in who they were as people.
Hopefully that makes sense.

Pizza Index strikes again.
Trump is trying to play this like he and his administration had no knowledge of Israel's attack on Iran, but the Index never lies.

leftist men have so completely lost the plot on feminism that it now seems like a radical controversial opinion to simply state that men benefit from patriarchy

"what if a dangerous man pretends to be trans to-" what if we actually dealt with the underlying causes of dangerous men. what if predators faced real consequences more often. what if you stopped using trans women as a proxy for your grievances with liberal feminism's individualist denial of the need to fight systemic issues.
what if you stopped assigning blame for patriarchy's evils to one of its more vulnerable victim groups.

Any conspiracy theory about people going missing in National Parks is automatically silly to me. Like "Why are National Parks such a hotbed of disappearances???" because they're full of idiots. You've got thousands of people who've never pissed outdoors in their life wandering around the woods/desert/mountain with zero experience and zero gear and zero understanding that this place can kill them. You don't see as many disappearances in wild areas because people don't go to them unless they have some background knowledge. Whereas you get tour buses full of old folks and suburban families shuttling people into National Parks 365 days a year. If you took the same amount of buffoons and dropped them in the actual wilderness the disappearances would be significantly higher than at the parks. Use your brain.
