Thinking about Syd and Jed again... thinking about Jed growing up as a good catholic boy and having to shove down his homosexual "urges" to be a good catholic boy for his ma n pa. Admiring Syd and thinkin he's handsome- and feeling guilty when he realizes he ain't as straight as he thought he was. Going to church and praying to get "fixed" and getting upset when he isn't. Growing older and realizing after he moved out of Texas, that yeah, maybe it ain't so bad being a queer after all. And then the Horrors hit him, and Syd. Syd dies from his sickness. Going to a new church in Ohio and begging for forgiveness after he resurrects Sydney from the dead and hearing no response from his God. Remembering how he found love through privately worshipping Syd and the lines blur just a little bit more between love, devotion and religion. Getting sick to his stomach when Elijah starts doing the same thing years later. Feeling angry and resentful towards himself and Elijah. Ohhhhhh the angst.
