I haven't considered you the kind of person to stab people for fun.
well you could always just stab elias and not kill him. just do it for fun. for the sport of it all
...I feel like that would put a strain on our relationship, and he is already very unhelpful. Besides, I'm not that bloodthirsty.

...Does that include my predecessors and all of their versions, too?
...please tell me that you aren't full of longing to stab Elias for the Ides of March?
–Jonah
Ah? What? I'm pretty sure we decided that trying to kill him would end badly? Well. Most of us. Or, uh, I did, at least.

Why would they plan his assassination where he can see it? I understand that he can see... a lot of places, but if it's supposed to be a parallel to Caesar's assassination, shouldn't they keep it secret? And he is much more useful alive... I mean, I don't know their circumstances, maybe for them he is not useful at all, but... It does seem like a bad plan overall, even without touching on thematic incoherence.
...please tell me that you aren't full of longing to stab Elias for the Ides of March?

Speaking from my experience, it's actually very unpleasant.

He studies her in silence for a couple of moments. She is... strange. What she says sounds close to what the Eye is supposed to be—though "divination" is, perhaps, too poetic of a word. But her physical appearance seems... off. For an Eye avatar, at least; she'd make a good Vast follower, probably.
"Who are you? And what are you?" He asks again, more insistent, this time.
There is a soft knock on the door of Jon's office when he gets to work. From within his office.
Jon jolts, surprised, immediately starting feeling lightheaded from the rising heartbeat. The door was definitely locked—or was it?—and none of his colleagues would come to work so early anyway. If not them, then... who? His thoughts race to the worst, as they always do—Mr. Spider. Though, considering that the knock came at him, does it mean that now Jon himself, metaphorically, is Mr. Spider now? But why would it come from inside of his lair? And this isn't really a metaphor—this is just something that is currently happening. Hm. Well, maybe that wasn't a very wise thought.
Still, it does not explain anything. He doesn't feel... threatened, though. Be it his intuition, or passive knowledge from the Eye, or plain denial of his mortality, but it does not feel like he'll get killed as soon as he opens the door.
So that is what he does. He could've turned around and went home, could've asked someone else to go with him, could've knocked back, for God's sake. But he is curious.
Jon turns the key once, listening to any changes inside, then pulls the door open just enough to peek inside—he doesn't come in yet.

The first attempt to address those accusations dies out in a stutter, and Jon looks down on the desk where Elias's hand is—avoiding eye contact but still looking at him.
"I– I stayed to finish some work. I expected to stay awake until I'm done with it."
It is not a lie and not an excuse; he is simply explaining what happened as plainly as he can. And yet, any hint of disapproval from Elias feels like something to refute as soon as he can. He shouldn't care what Elias thinks of him after everything that man has put him through, but... He can't help it.
It's terribly early still when Elias makes his way down to the Archives. The others aren't in yet -No chance they're getting interrupted this time. He sneaks his way between the boxes piled up high, still a mess, barely containing the pure excitement of a kid on Christmas morning. Except, well, it's around a week past the date and he's the one bringing the gift: a medium-sized box well wrapped with patterned paper and tied with a shimmering silk bow.
(Unless of course you're so inclined to count the Archivist as Elias' gift, which he would absolutely agree Jon is.)
But, that's besides the point. He finally gets to Jon's office, and asks "Knock knock?"
@elias-magnusnt
Jon is dozing off on his desk as Elias is making his way towards his office. His voice, however familiar and soft is usually is, startles Jon out of his slumber, and for a few moments, he is struggling to understand where he is.
"C-come in," he says through the haze, an automatic response. He doesn't want to see anyone, or, rather, doesn't want anyone to see him like that, but there's nothing to do about that now. Oh well.

He sighs, irritated.
"Yes, that's how I know I shouldn't make those deals," he grunts, a flash of anger quickly burning out and getting replaced by a frown. "Besides, the only thing I want right now is answers. And it seems like this would only bring me more issues."
The thought returns him to the reality. Outside of this moment in his office where he is getting himself a cat and talking to some kind of otherworldly being, the end of the world as he knows it is being prepared. And it is his job to save it, apparently.

Jon takes a couple of moments to just stare at him, taking in what he said. He didn't actually expect his annoyance to be noticed or acknowledged. That's... awkward.
"No, it's fine," his tone softens in turn. "I just didn't expect to fall asleep, but it's fine. I can– I can talk."
