my coworkers, all of whom are white Christian women, said today that they think ANYONE of Palestinian descent should be deported to Gaza and then have bombs dropped on them.
They don’t know I’m Palestinian. I’m fucking terrified. We don’t have HR. I can’t lose my job. It’s crazy to me that they can spout genocidal bullshit but if I so much as mention my ethnicity they may turn on me and hate me.
I’m a patient care coordinator at a pulmonary practice. All I want to do is make sure my patients get the care they need and deserve. I’m the only care coordinator in my office. I’m great at my job. But it was so hard to focus today knowing that if my coworkers knew about one of the biggest aspects of my identity - one of the things about myself about which I am the most proud - they would stop seeing me as a person.
Fuck off with the bothsidesism. With the whataboutism. This is what the mass of propaganda and lies and anti-Arabism being spread in the media do. And I’m terrified.

Israel has been committing unspeakable war crimes, crimes against humanity, and illegal collective punishment against Palestinians in Gaza for 15 years. 15 years. Any comment or analysis that doesn’t take this fact into consideration today is hollow, immoral, and dehumanizing.

Israel's pummeling of Gaza was never about revenge or avenging the Israelis killed by Hamas. It was about massacring Palestinians with complete impunity. At the time of writing, almost 4, 000 Palestinians have been killed in almost two weeks. To put this into perspective, this is double the amount of Palestinians killed in Israel's 2014 assault on Gaza, which lasted around six weeks.

It has been hard for me to talk about how what is going on with Israel and Palestine is affecting me personally, but I grew up in Gaza and most of my family still lives there. My father did not survive the bombings last week and I have not been able to contact my younger sister in days. I am try to being understanding that most people do not have personal connections to what is happening and therefore are justifying their silence, but is heartbreaking to see this misinformation being spread. What’s happening there is a genocide, not a war. It is not antisemitic to support Palestine, it’s not even antiemetic to criticise Israel. There is no grey area or neutrality regarding this, and it is so easy to find resources that will educate you on the subject. It is my people and my home being destroyed so I will never be silent about this, but I please urge everyone to get informed and start speaking up and finding ways they can help.
decolonizepalestine has tons of information on Palestine’s history/propaganda that has been spread throughout the years
UK citizens can email their MP asking for a ceasefire
US citizens can call/email their local government officials asking for a ceasefire
Jewish Voice for Peace also has many resources for ways for US citizens to get involved, including protests
Donate to Palestine Children’s Relief Fund
Donate to Medical Aid for Palestine
Donate to help get food and hygiene kits to Gaza

❝ And also-❞ Then, she stops, perplexed.
❝ Wait… you said okay? So yer’ not gonna hurt m’ U-chan no more? ❞
She looks at the other ghoul firmly, drinking in his appearance, the pale silver hair, and dark eyes. The way his shoulders seem to hunch up and how he casts his eyes downwards. He’s actually…listening to her. Accepting her wishes.
This was something Maiko did not anticipate, Uta was often crass and short with her when she fussed over him, or tried to get him to listen to any of her suggestions when it came to wounding or otherwise getting hurt.
And yet this ghoul, who’d broken Uta’s legs, and was constantly stealing food was listening to her. She was known throughout the 4th ward, though more often than not it was through terms such as “Uta’s lady,” or “The girl with the accent who’s always with Uta.”
Both were acceptable to her, though they did not carry the same weight as Uta’s name among fellow ghouls, mostly, they kept her at bay, lest they incur Uta’s displeasure to find them, like a shark sniffing out blood in the water.
❝ Be…be careful with ‘em okay? He means a lot to me! I’m Maiko! ❞
“Yeah, whatever you say” he answers, if there’s anything he’s understood from the short girl’s yammering, it’s that she was not going to see any faults in Uta and therefore, there was no point in trying to convince her otherwise, so he’ll hear her, but he can’t promise he’ll listen. Besides, she wasn’t very scary and it seemed as though the only reason no one seemed to brawl with her was purely because of Uta so... as long as he didn’t prod Uta or her, he was fine. But if they were to prod him, niceties were up.
He shoves his hands into his pockets and gives a vague shrug. “That’s a pretty name. Nice--” and the word feels rather sour on his tongue, “--to meet you--” under the circumstances.
He’s definitely not here to be friends with anyone though, least of all Uta and his gang of crazies, Maiko included, so he doesn’t offer his own name back. She probably knows it anyway, with all the talking Uta does. The more he thinks about it and observes Maiko, the more he realizes they’re really not that bad of a match. Annoying, yammering, seeing no faults of their own, what a coincidence.
“So what’s the deal with you and him and his gang?” he asks. She seemed the type to talk and he’s the type to listen, so he figures it wouldn’t hurt to try it out-- he’s learned from Itori how information could be weaponized and while he’s momentarily agreed not to hurt Uta, he would appreciate the extra information to keep Uta from hurting him. “You work for him or somewhat?”
