This small female torso is part of the series of statues I am currently working on but it is not styrofoam based. I don’t remember the name but it is some kind of pressed cardboard. Besides what’s it made out I pretty much used the same method as I did for the other statues. It is coated with layers of bathroom tile glue, sanded down a bit, layer or two of gesso and finally I adding colour with acrylic paint and sponges. Next up I am going to add my figures. Keep an 👀 on my IG or Facebook stories for sneak peeks.     (at Alphen aan den Rijn) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDwkyodH9MH/?igshid=giuh2rlkpjmc

I plan to make more 3D pieces for my exhibition in November 2020, time to start working on this lady. With the help of a fellow artist, I was able to sort out the stand which was bent, and now she can stand upright. This leaves two important decision. First, I am not a fan of how her left arm looks. It does not fit well in the socked except for a specific position. Its almost as if this arm does not belong to this mannequin. My solutions are to remove the arms, glue the arm in the one spot that looks good which will make it harder to storages and travel, or make some kind of scarf to cover up the shoulders partially. I am leaning to either removing the arms or keeping them for now and decide after I painted them. The second decision is how to fix the small areas that are damaged. I'm not too fond of the idea of having to sand the mannequin down to its base layer and have fibreglass dust all over the place, but I don't know if there are other ways to fix these areas. Right now, I think the best option is first to see how it looks if I cover everything in a couple of layers of gesso. In a way, having these small scars does give the mannequin a bit of character.  I would love to hear your thought and any tips on how to approach painting a mannequin❔❓❔❓❔❓❔❓ (at De Werf) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDrkXvqn4f_/?igshid=1rip8c5qsjt5s

Friday’s YouTube video is now up on my channel, showing part two in the creation of Yohoho a figurative abstract painting using acrylic paint and markers. In part one from last Monday, I talked about needed to split the footages into two videos since for these large paintings I got hours and hours of film. Putting it all in one short video just gets too crazy in terms of how many % I need to speed up the video😅. However, even with the split its still a lot for this second part. I think the best solution is to start cutting out sections of the film🤔. I am curious what you all think would you prefer a long video showing everything or do you like me think it's not that interesting to watch someone spend 5 minutes just cleaning up linework❓❔❓❔❓ -------------------------------------------------------- This painting is looking for an owner to bring some joy and colour to their life, if you are interested send me a message. ---------------------------------------------------------- Please check out my videos on YouTube and subscribe to my channel it greatly supports my work 💪😊💪😊💪😊 Link to video in profile.   (at Alphen aan den Rijn) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDmL1uMAPDy/?igshid=1faixze5wcctd

Monday’s YouTube video is now up on my channel, showing how I painted a Blue abstract background using sponges and acrylic paint for “Yohoho”. This is part one, the next part will be posted on Friday.  I have arrived at my first large canvas painting. While I was editing this I notice how much footage I had. Trying to fit all that in a short video just seemed crazy. Hello 10.000x normal speed 😂. I decided to split these paintings into two videos, one showing how I paint the background and a second showing the creation of the figures. Alternatively I could simply have made the video twice as long and show the full painting in one video. What do you guys think about this split❓❔❓❔❓❔❓❔❓❔❓ -------------------------------------------------------- This painting is looking for an owner to bring some joy and colour to their life, if you are interested send me a message. ---------------------------------------------------------- Please check out my videos on YouTube and subscribe to my channel it greatly supports my work 💪😊💪😊💪😊 Link to video in profile. Just a nice relaxed Sunday working from my studio. Last couple of weeks I and my colleagues @ipcboekbinder @hermakampschuur @atelierroosenschoon have been working hard on improving our front patch. The flowers are looking lovely, added a picnic table for breaks, bicycle rack and a walkway with decorative grasses to our front door. How is your Sunday? I want to make more 3D pieces in preparation for the end of the year exhibition. This penguin is part of a new set of animal statues for that exhibition. First, I coated it with several layers of bathroom tile glue, then I sanded it down a bit. Now I added the main colour layer using acrylic paint and sponges.  Next up I will start to add figures on this sort of background layer. You can see some sneak peeks during the next couple weeks on my IG/Facebook stories and on my Tiktok.  (at Alphen aan den Rijn) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDMINNRgFX6/?igshid=1vp9gv706dq0b

I just finished the Pencil Kings premium 30-day figure drawing challenge. The before pic is a little older I drew it before I did the Fiquary challenge, which was about two months ago. So there are about two months between them since I need to take breaks it takes me a bit longer than 30 days. Of course, I got a way to go before I can call my figure drawings good, but I think I see a substantial improvement between the two drawings.  (at Alphen aan den Rijn) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDHb2_lHMi3/?igshid=9fsgegi4tl55

I am generally happy with my website but still trying to make some improvements. One of the things I am not sure about is the colour choice. I want people who visit my site to get the idea that it's from a professional artist aimed at adults which brings maximum focus to my art. Right now, I picked a bright purple which I like, but it might give off the impression that the site is aimed at kids. Also, my colourful work might be displayed better on a clean, modern basic black and white colour scheme.  ______________________________________ What do you think when you see my site? Would an alternative colour be better suited for my goal❓❓❓❓❓ Nr 1 is my current colour scheme.  Nr 2 is trying to go lighter pastel shades. Nr 3, 4,5 are gradually darker purples. Nr 6 is black. Nr 7 is a dark blue. (at Alphen aan den Rijn) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDEVaeXnSnp/?igshid=7q0ij1wd1pew

I got my work back from the exhibition that was extended for weeks because of the lockdown situation. I decided to switch out some of the paintings and objects from the main display wall in the studio. Its a bit cluttered but I like how it looks, what do you think? Messages me if you are interested in buying any of the pieces from the photo.  (at Alphen aan den Rijn) https://www.instagram.com/p/CC_4_7HnYmt/?igshid=mes2wc8ajcec
