??? I mean, a normal projector couldn't have done that much, especially on short notice, but also of course he didn't need to put on a show about it at all, either. He could have just lured Marinette somewhere private and told her directly. But while the projector was absolutely unnecessary, being necessary wasn't remotely the point.

Brief tangent for comparison: Do you remember, by chance, when Wishmaker was new, and people were angry at Luka for lying to Ladybug? The point wasn't that lying was good. The point was that Luka is a character who up to that point had revolved so fiercely around honesty and open communication, to a point he's still the only character in the entire show to have ever been unwillingly akumatized and still identify by only his civilian name. He never at any point in "Truth" calls himself Truth, but does adamantly declare my name is Luka Couffaine. To lie to Ladybug after learning everything was a moment of massive character growth, of not only understanding but accepting and supporting her past decisions to lie to him and others. And it didn't even turn out to be an indisputable "greater good"! There might have been bullshit avoided if he told sooner! But the point wasn't making the best choice; it was developing the mental and emotional motivation behind making choices, then and going into the future.

This argument reminds me of that.

Felix's power creates life, and each holder can only create one being at a time. The only options are:

Create a singular long life, which in this case means effectively becoming a permanent parent at 15 or making the conscious choice to create something like a pet that will be subservient its whole long life, neither of which seems great actually. To create something with the power to help people as the Miraculous are meant to do also means creating a being with a predefined purpose and responsibility, and even if he tried to give them freedom for how to fulfill it, asking another being to stick to that longterm seems like the last thing Felix would want.

Don't use the Peacock at all, which would be a valid choice to make, but would mean having the power to help other people and making the choice to not use it because using it makes him feel bad. Inaction in the face of threats for fear of dirtying your own hands is not moral superiority, it's a hypocritical high horse. Or

Find a way to use this power more ethically and responsibly. This is the option he chose. This is the way the Peacock should be used.

"I am giving you life so that you can help us bring the truth to light."

He created this being for a specific purpose, gently, with the added tenderness of Kagami offering her own amok ring to share with this new being. Both of them, in a way, became its creators, its parents. It was something ephemeral, and made to be so. Its life was a singular but meaningful experience, performed alongside them, being respected as a teammate rather than used like a minion. And then, when its purpose was fulfilled, it was released just as gently, bittersweet, with love and thanks.

The value of a life is not measured by its length, nor is the value of a relationship or an experience. The show actively deals with that heavily, too, in how Emilie's death is a tragedy, but a large majority of the pain and suffering happening right now is a result of Gabriel refusing to let go. To accept that sometimes a life is short, but it is still beautiful and meaningful and important, is upheld as a good and necessary part of existence. Of course it's a little different to make the choice to bring things in and out of being, but the underlying principle doesn't change: the value of those lives is not measured by their length.

Think of animals, how short the lifespans of many are, and the ways they can touch us in a fraction of even that. Think of any time you've met someone and known them only a few weeks, a few months, but they left an impression; they got you through a tough time, or shared a lot of joy even if it didn't last long, or you picked up some knowledge or habit from them that stays with you even when the relationship doesn't. Think of any helpful stranger you meet in passing. Any tumblr shitpost that despite its silliness and brevity still fundamentally changed the way you thought about something. Any piece of media that in a limited number of pages or runtime changed you as a person. Think of anyone who knows they have only a short time to live and decides to make the most of it. Love and beauty exist in every fleeting moment, even alongside pain and sorrow.

The entire point of the Peacock's power is to embrace that. It gives an emotion life, and emotions, too, are ever-changing and often fleeting. The absolute best way to use that power is to create simple life with respect and purpose, and to grant it release when that purpose is fulfilled.

The point of the projector was showing that Felix was trying to come to terms with that, to accept that it will hurt every single time, but it can be bittersweet and beautiful and helpful to others and done with love anyway.

Speaking of the sentimonster felix created and then murdered in representation, I feel like the folks that are either downplaying the fact that this moment made him a major hypocrite, or are trying to excuse and justify him doing this are forgetting the key important fact that he didn't NEED to create Once Upon a Time in the first place.

Not only do projectors exist, Felix is rich enough that he could have bought a warehouse full of them! Hell, he could have just grabbed one from the school(aka the building, he and kagami led Marinette into) itself as we've known since Heroes Day that very school is equipped with them!

Yeah that argument doesnt work for them either. Ive tried saying that, and it only generates a whole new round of incoherent explanations to excuse felix.

"Oh he HADDD to create the senti projector, Marinette couldn't know it was him or she wouldn't listen!"

So we're throwing Marinettes character under the bus for this loser now too, too bad its an excuse not based in reality though! Marinette prioritizes peaceful resolutions before violence, and she has attempted to reach out even to Hawk Moth and Lila before.

Ive also tried the "he could have used an actual projector" argument, that one usually gets ignored or brushed over with "no i think ur wrong and stupid" yet they can't tell me why im wrong lmao!!

All of this is totally irrelevant though because a projector was not needed to tell Marinette anything. If anything all it seemed to do was get his message lost in translation, but to that they wanna argue "IT WAS FOR DRAMATIC EFFECT!!!" Yeah that was absolutely the only, the SINGLE method that could have been used to achieve drama... um ok sure thing yeah.

And god FORBID u bring up the poster for the in-universe ladybug movie and the fact that its given an appearance right after Felix's play, god forbid if u try to imply that that means there's holes in Felix's story even though in S3 the show goes out of its way to tell/show us that even movies based on real life are full of filler bullshit that doesn't reflect reality.

"Im a superhero tiki not a star" hey maybe felix should consider this the next time he decides to communicate important time sensitive information via shitty play that cost a senti being its life!!! Hahahahaha

This fandom EATS up the small details and all their possible meanings...until they dont like the details. Then its "you're just being delusional and this is here for no big reason stop being stupid" lmao.

It doesnt matter how much logic u use they find a way to smack it down and make u seem illiterate for not buying into this privileged freaks redemption.
