Not Afraid
Who: Jackson Whittemore and Lydia Martin
What: Jackson is changing again and seeks out help in Lydia.
Where: Lydia's house
When: 5/8/2013
Warnings: None
Jackson hadn't been staying at Lydia's. Since he had stopped changing at night, he had started to stay at his own home more, Lacrosse causing him stress. He was afraid of changing around Lydia when he felt like that, and he hoped she understand his reasoning for distancing himself. Now that he was changing again, he couldn't do it alone. He needed the girl back in his life everyday. He missed her more than anything, and he loved her. When he arrived at her house, he didn't bother knocking. He held her favorite flowers behind his back, wondering where she was. "Delivery for a very beautiful, Lydia Martin."
Lydia came down the steps, smiling at him. "Hey," she said, moving closer and wrapping her arms loosely around his waist. "I've been waiting for you." She leaned up, pressing a light kiss against his lips. "And I've missed you." After spending a week stuck in a cave with her, Lydia hadn't been surprised that Jackson had wanted some time to himself. She really had missed him, though, and she hoped that he'd decide to stay with her more often. She didn't like being alone, and she didn't like for him to be alone, either.
Jackson kissed her gently, his lips lingering over hers as he pulled away. "I missed you Lydia. I'm sorry about not coming around. After the cave and the hospital and coach getting pissed at Lacrosse, I've been stressed." He pulled the flowers out from behind his back and smiled. "I love you, and I promise I'll be here more starting tonight." He wrapped his arms around her, careful not to smash the flowers.
Lydia grinned at the flowers. "Thank you," she said, touched by the gift. She looked up at him. "You haven't really missed anything. Well...Adam's dead and I went a little off about that." She shook her head sadly. "I'm still upset about it."
Jackson frowned. "Adam is dead? What?" He looked at the ground. He and the male had conquered their fears together, and Jackson had come to trust him. He shook his head, his eyes closing for a moment before they reopened. "What happened?"
Lydia shrugged, upset all over again. "He was with Tate. They're together now." She hated it. She hated it /so/ much. "Someone shot him. Or something." She shook her head, looking up at him. "I guess he gets to stick around, but he's dead." She frowned, her heart hurting all over again.
Jackson couldn't stand Tate. He had threatened Lydia and him too much. "I fucking hate Tate." He kissed the girls forehead and shook his head. "Let's not talk about this anymore."
Lydia nodded, putting her head against his chest. "I don't want you to die," she told him. "It scares me to death. And I don't want to die either." She felt like such a baby; she was the only human surrounded by all these magical and supernatural beings, and it freaked her out. She felt so alone, and she hated being so weak.
Jackson shook his head. "I'm not going to die Lydia and neither are you." He let out a deep breath. "I'm here to protect you okay? I won't let /anything/ hurt you." He lifted her chin and looked into her eyes. "Do you still trust me?"
Lydia nodded. "With everything," she told him. "My body, my mind, my heart..." She smiled softly. "I love you, Jackson. I know you won't hurt me. I'm not afraid."
Jackson smiled. "I need you to always trust me Lydia." He kissed her forehead. "I love you baby." He swallowed hard, knowing that he had changed once with her in the room, nothing happening. "I could never hurt you. Not now, not ever."
Lydia smiled. "I know. But we need to find out who's controlling you. I hate that we don't know what's happening to you." She frowned. "Do you have any ideas?"
Jackson shrugged. "I don't even know what I am completely. I can't think of anyone that would control me. Have you checked out the murders around here lately? Maybe if we see who I'm.. hurting, we can match it to someone." He didn't want to say kill, he /couldn't/ say kill.
Lydia knew exactly who he'd killed; every time he woke up bloody, she immediately searched for his victim. "I haven't found anything," she lied. "Maybe it's not people, you know?" She bit her lip. "Everything I've read says that you have a master, baby. We just need to find out who it is and make them stop."
Jackson was able to hear her heartbeat increase when she answered, but he decided to ignore. If she was lying to him, it was for a good reason. "Who would be sick enough to control me? And how did they get control over me in the first place?
Lydia shrugged. "I don't know. I can't read all of the text; it's blurred with time. No one around here seems to know anything about it either." She sighed. Angels, demons, wolves...and no one knows anything. It's nuts."
Jackson let out a deep breath. He wanted to be a wolf, not whatever he was. "This would be /a lot/ easier if the Alpha known as Derek fucking Hale would ever come around."
Lydia nodded. "I don't think I've seen him since we got out of the cave. Have you ever been able to talk to him?"
Jackson shook his head with a bit of frustration. "He hasn't helped me at all. None of them have. Isaac talked me through a few things, nothing that I didn't already know. Erica hasn't been around, but I think that's because of her parents. Derek hasn't done anything for me, and at this point, I don't want him to." Jackson knew that was a lie. If Derek offered him help, he would take it.
Lydia put the flowers down and moved back to him, wrapping her arms around his neck. "I'll figure something out, baby," she told him. "I promise."
Jackson wrapped his arms around her, pulling her closer. "Thank you Lydia." He kissed her gently, sighing at the feel of her lips. No matter how bad things got, Jackson could always rely on her to make his life better.
Lydia smiled against his lips. "I've got you, baby."
Jackson nodded. "And I've got you sweetheart." He wanted to hold her in his arms when he slept, but he didn't know how safe it would be.
Lydia "You're staying the night, right? Please? I hate being here alone."
Jackson couldn't go home, not tonight. "Of course I am baby." He thought for a moment and then sighed. "I want to hold you tonight."
Lydia smiled. "Then hold me," she said simply.
Jackson grabbed her hand, walking towards her bedroom. "I think I know your house better than you do sometimes."
Lydia laughed softly, following him. "Probably. But then, I know yours."
Jackson stopped for a moment to turn around. "Do you still have the key?"
Lydia pulled out the chain she wore around her neck, showing him the house key he'd given her.
Jackson kissed the girl gently and smiled. "I love you baby." He grabbed her hand once more and walked into her room, closing the door behind them and locking it. "I know if I change, the lock won't keep me inside, but I feel better with it locked." He walked over to the bed, removing his shirt and kicking out of his shoes. He sat on the edge of the bed and waited. "I know you aren't sleeping in that."
Lydia laughed, shaking her head and pulling off her shirt. "Since my parents won't be coming home," she told him.
Jackson shrugged. "They've been gone for how long now?" He liked the idea of sleeping with Lydia, with nothing on. He pulled off his jeans, his boxers falling down behind them as he laid back in bed, pulling the covers over his body. "Hurry up Martin, it's cold."
Lydia laughed and finished undressing, sliding into bed beside him. She pulled the blanket over her, moving back against him, her back pressed to his chest. "Better?"
Jackson wrapped his arms around her and nodded. "Much." He kissed her cheek gently. "Will you wake me up before you shower in the morning?"
Lydia nodded. "Gonna shower with me?" she asked.
Jackson smiled and shrugged. "It's a good possibility."
Lydia laughed. "I'll definitely wake you, then," she told him.
Jackson pulled her closer. "Thanks baby." He kissed her shoulder and closed his eyes. "Goodnight beautiful. I love you."
Lydia sighed happily, glad to have him back in her bed and her arms. "I love you, too," she said softly. And she did. She /really/ did.
Jackson smiled at her words, drifting off to sleep, praying that she was safe in his arms.

I think you would cure me pretty quickly.

I don't feel well.
Come lay with me, baby. We can be sick together.

I didn't feel well last night, one reason I didn't come over. And I didn't change.

I don't feel well.
I hope it’s just a bug and not something sinister. Living here, though, who knows?

Okay baby. I'll be over tonight.

Not Again.
Yes, baby, of course. Just plan on staying here from now on, okay?

I'm okay now Lyd. Can I come back to your basement? All I remember is waking up in the locker room floor at school, covered in blood.

Not Again.
Oh no…are you okay? Do you…do you remember anything?

I can't even explain how relieved I am right now.

Not Again.
No, Jackson, I’m fine. I went for a run…I haven’t been able to sleep and I thought maybe that would help.
