So they completely cut out the whole burning building trauma? And the whole reason why Abby and Travis got married in the end? No calling of Trent (or Shep as a substitute) to protect Abby while Travis fights?
There was no build-up to this great love story between Abby and Travis. Zilch. None. Just two sex scenes and one almost makeout session. There was no attempt to connect the audience to any of the characters. Travis doesn't talk about his mother except the two mentions that she's dead. We're never given a chance to emotionally invest ourselves into Abby's story though she's the protagonist. The side characters are completely one-dimensional and are just there to provide background entertainment and be sounding boards (in America's case) for the main.
Holy fuck, that was appallingly bad. I sincerely hope there is no sequel.
An incredible story was hijacked and turned into this steaming pile of money-grabbing shit. Wow. If I were the author, I'd be pissed. And embarrassed.
No offense to the cast. I'm sure they gave it their all and it's an acting job, can't blame them for taking it.
Best things about the movie: Dylan Sprouse. Michael Cudlitz. It wasn't two hours of sitting through this crap.
Worst things about the movie: Roger Kumble as the director. Roger Kumble as the screenwriter. A man as the screenwriter allowed to get away with lines like "Just wait until I'm on my period, and I'll stab you" and making Abby borderline physically abusive towards Travis. Everything this movie is.
Rating: -6/10 (and that's generous)
Going to find my brain bleach now and try to forget this shit. Looks like a reread is in my near future.

"Travis?" He's nowhere to be found.
Abby looks at her phone and sees one text from Travis and several missed calls and messages from Benny. But does she look at Travis' text message? Nope. Instead, she looks at America's text.
Seems legit.

So the same actor that played Hardin's dad in After We Collided is now playing Benny. Roger, I sincerely hope you don't get another one of these movies.

So there's absolutely no point to this movie, basically. It's just a girl who went to college and is attracted to a hot guy who immediately wants her because he gets a rise out of her and he somehow thinks she's good for him & she wants him physically and then she ends up losing her virginity to him despite her earlier protestations of being attracted to him and her interest in him.
That is literally what we've been seeing for the first half of this movie.

How does Travis think Abby is good for him? She's beyond annoying and she always gets physical. To be fair, Travis is the aggro one in the books but if either one of them are, that relationship is just not going to work out well.

Someone should really check on Roger Kumble. He is one horny son of a bitch.

They really haven't shown us any building of the Abby and Travis relationship during the time she's staying with him. The most we got was him bringing her to meet his family.
And what is with the smacking each other? Again, this is supposed to be a romance, right? So obvious that a typical man wrote this. Did they not find any female screenwriters available to write this? And the author agreed to this?

Shep watching Roger's directed sequel to After, really?
Self-promotion much there, Roger? As you're copying pretty much everything from that series?

I love how Abby is cocky and so forthcoming when she's not supposed to be going into this poker game. Sigh.

Omg Michael Cudlitz as the Maddox patriarch. Alright that makes up a bit for how much I'm going to have to bleach my brain after this film.

Holy fuck, this is really bad. The dialogue alone...
I just looked up who wrote the screenplay and it's the director, Roger Kumble. How tf does a guy write for a woman? When will Hollywood understand this? This was a new adult romance book from a female POV. Walking Disaster and the Maddox Brothers series have no place in this.
I actually feel really bad for the cast. How they said any of this dialogue with a straight face, when they read the script...
"You wait until I'm on my period, I might stab you." So fucking obvious that a man wrote this shit, even if I hadn't looked it up. Wow.

Gotta be honest a lot of the humor in this movie feels forced. It doesn't feel natural or genuine in any way, shape, or form. Like a ton of forced meet cute moments.

The layout of Travis and Shep's apartment looks very similar to how I imagined it so that's cool. Right down to the kitchen layout.
