May 31, 2025 - update on this post. Charlotte is a trans woman trying to survive while homeless and fighting cancer, diabetes, and transphobic violence. Current need: $70 to replace her stolen phone ASAP, $480 for a weekly motel by JUNE 4. Anything helps! If 55 people send $10 that is enough.

My daughter Lama, with a heart as pure as a flower, carries pain greater than her years. She was injured in the war, and a metal plate was placed in her small hand. But the pain doesn't stop there... She needs care, medicine, food... and we have nothing. No medicine, no food, not even a loaf of bread.

We live under a siege that silently kills us. I beg you, from the depths of my heart... help her if you can, or share this plea so it reaches those with the ability and compassion.

Lama deserves life. Why are you ignoring me? Hasn't it come time for us to take action and stand together against this injustice?

How hard was it to get used to the traditional halftones and screentones? I was thinking about buying some for myself but I don't know how to plan around its process or how much do I need exactly since this will be my first time trying it.

Exciting!!! I've used them as a kid so I knew what to expect, which might have helped. But it's pretty easy to get in the groove of it! the process itself is pretty grueling, a lot of frustration and finicky detailwork especially if the detailwork doesn't quite stick(I had to resort to using clear tape over some of the details), but it's just cutting and sticking stuff to paper at the end of the day, so it's not really a steep learning curve imo!

As for the amount... It's tricky. I thought I bought a bunch, but for the amount I used I ended up having too little. I think I had a 15 or so bunch for dollhouse arsonist at 83 pages, plus some scraps. They are huge but they run out fast if you use them a lot. On the other hand, I had friends who ordered them and didn't end up using them as much-- so maybe ordering a few.. Dunno 3-5 you're interested in and experimenting to find your use for them might be best as a starting point, since they can be kinda pricy to bulk order.

We had a workshop at my studio where we did an exercise of "copy a panel of your favorite traditional manga" which was a pretty good way to get started. It's also good to study the manga you kind of aesthetically are closest to so you can see physically how big a chunk of screentones are on every page.

Do you have tips for cartoon-y/stylized anatomy? I really struggle with taking like, formal stuff to that super fun cool dimension. You do it great!

what helps me most is fast-paced figure drawing or gesture drawing (can find it on youtube for free!) and less focus on how each muscle connects where, how large each area is, etc. and more a focus on the overall shape of the body and the whitespace around it and between the parts. I find fast figure drawing helps because your brain doesn't really register the shape as a body, just a shape, making u used to it. That's at least what's worked for me!

i'm gonna open commissions for summer tomorrow(and mail anyone who has prior reservations!)

I'm gonna do different kinds that I'll be working on until autumn with limited slots-- sketch, traditional, looser render, and high-detail render-- I wanted to do varying price ranges this year, and a bit more looser stuff. The reason is I spend more and more time(sometimes 25+ hours) on well-rendered pieces, which makes them more laborous and expensive in a way I've not really contended with, but I want people also be able to get looser stuff. I hope that's okay.

I'll also be opening the store later this month, this time shipping from europe. I'll be selling surplus from last year as a spring cleaning, and my doujinshi:)

My GoFundMe campaign was deleted yesterday. I had raised €29,500 through it. I'm feeling very exhausted now because the money was transferred from my account to the appropriated people. I contacted GoFundMe technical support, but they ignored me and didn't respond. I don't know why. The text message informing me that my campaign was deleted told me that the donations would be returned to their owners within 3 to 7 business days. hey, hope I’m not a bother! I was looking at the screenshots from your traditional sefikura doujinshi, and as a traditional artist myself, I would really like to know what drawing tools you used for it! (Pens, markers, pencils, etc.)

koh-i-noor drawing ink and G-pen steel nibs! : D Some early parts are hatched with marupen but I quickly gave up orz. Screentones are almost all deleter .

just random felt tip pens for some of the black backgrounds... but also just regular watercolor brushes and ink.

hello. wanted to hit you up about your pathologic art. i learn't you've deleted all of it and it honestly makes me very sad. your pathologic fanart made a lot of important things for me. it comforted me at lonely night. it inspired me to experiment with my art and start to draw comics. i hold it closely to my heart. your artemy is also very special for me. people quite often argue about xenophobia around him, completely ignoring the fact that kin is mostly inspired by buryats. pathologic still doesn't claim any nationality to kin nor it shows buryat culture properly. xenophobia against burtas and native americans is different so in my eyes the critique of your pathologic art is especially unfair. so it's just heartbreaking for me. feel free to delete this anon ask and ignore it, i don't want to disturb you with anything, knowing that this message might cause an argue. i love you, thank you for the all things you've made. <3

i get variations of this ask quite often-- why i delete some of my art, specifically, so i wanted to answer it kind of definitely. first of all, thank you for the ask. i am happy my art can mean something good to someone else.

i was ignorant to a lot of the real history behind pathologic. here my ethos is that if my art makes someone feel othered or uncomfortable on basis of racism or prejudice, i've totally failed, and i've betrayed the world i want everyone to live in. and i want people to be able to express their disgust at stuff i made that hurt them without debate, cause i don't want that kind of art out there. tldr; if i delete something, it's for good reason, if i hurt people it's not coming back.
