Anyway I like The Outer Worlds because I am currently co-parenting 2 gay children with a crusty old vicar going through a crisis of faith, and also our pirate doctor wine aunt is there too, and we really only just left the first major quest area.
Also, I am pretty sure we are about to adopt a 3rd child once I can find a part to repair them.

One of the McFunny Bros asked “can shazam vote” on their podcast and now I think it would be funny if one of the other superheroes asked him if he voted and he’s like “oh no I’ve never voted” and they all give him shit for it like he’s some “I don’t care about politics” idiot but actually he’s just 14

More dumb magic items for your D&D campaign:
A sword that inflicts emotional wounds
A hat that, when left alone with another hat, will mate and produce hybrid offspring
Negative gold pieces
A map that is the territory
Armour that becomes more effective the uglier the wearer
A living pocket-watch that never needs winding, but if you don’t feed it, it dies; it’s an obligate carnivore
Goggles that put censor bars over monsters of the Aberration type
An instructional tome in the secret language of ducks
A dagger that glows in the presence of one particular goblin
Angry shoes

Twelve standard Dungeons & Dragons player character backstories:
Heroic fighter for truth, justice, and killing bad guys and taking their stuff
Dwarf dwarfing dwarfily something something dwarfdom
On the run from the law due to a harmless misunderstanding in which eight people died
Bad gambling debts with the actual Devil
Likes swords a little too much
Traveller from a far-away land whose particulars don’t really matter because it’s mostly an excuse to put on an outrageous accent
Just, like, really hates their dad
Member of a group that seemingly consists entirely of kind-hearted loner rebels against a nebulously oppressive status quo
Unjustly persecuted for the trivial peccadillo of eating people’s faces
Evil in theory
Novella-length tale of tragedy and intrigue that’s somehow never relevant in actual play
Hoping no one notices they lifted their backstory from a Naruto character

More dumb D&D warlock concepts:
A warlock who’s basically a harem anime protagonist; their “patron” is a collection of 3–5 inexplicably hot eldritch monstrosities whose affections the warlock must precariously balance, lest any one of them establish a definitive claim upon their soul.
A warlock whose patron has fallen on hard times, and subsequently showed up to crash on their couch. The patron is still capable of granting unfathomable cosmic powers, but can’t seem to get a goddamn job, and keeps hitting the warlock up for money to buy pipeweed.
A warlock whose patron is the mysterious author of a series of blasphemous self-help manuals. Their devotions consist of a collection of increasingly bizarre positive thinking exercises, and they keep trying to recruit NPCs into some sort of soul-twisting pyramid scheme.
A warlock who is to all appearances a middle-ranking member of an obscure trade guild or other mortal organisation, and insists in the face of all evidence to the contrary that their powers and invocations are merely the skills of their wholly mundane profession.
A warlock who has a very long and impressive-sounding title within the hierarchy of their patron’s conspiracy or cult, but whenever the subject of their duties comes up it’s never 100% clear who they answer to or what they actually do.

Yes! I don't like Blackwall, Vivienne, or Solas as people, but they are superbly written characters and the fact that I don't agree with them makes me love them. My characters usually agree to disagree with all of them and there's mutual respect there.
The very fact that that are characters that I don't agree with shows the skill of the writers on the team and adds to the immersion of the experience tenfold.

CONFESSION:
I think a lot of people (and this isn’t specific to the Dragon Age fandom) mix up ‘character I don’t like as a person’ with 'poorly written or bad character.’ You don’t need to agree with a character for them to be good and well-written. You don’t even need to like them. Characters can do mean or petty or hypocritical things because people do them. I love the writing for nearly all the DA characters, even if I’d loathe a lot of them as people if I met them in real life.
