no i'm not completely sure what the fashion of the story is like, yes i’m gonna draw stuff about it anyway. i've been attached since day 1 okay, aren’t they so cute 😭

this was supposed to be a small “hey look at my babies lol” kind of drawing but partway through i wanted to play with lighting a little bit, so.. lmao. it turned out to be one of my favorites so far though, it was v fun to work on and i learned a lot!

here’s my labor of love, a character sheet for one of my @shepherds-of-haven MCs, Jian! i actually started this to have an example for my commission page but i’m a clown and a fool and out of five mcs i just had to go with the one who has the most complicated tattoos, huh 😂💀 (that’s okay though, i get to say i’ve drawn them once and now i never ever have to do it again, them’s the rules.)

top left: Pre-Shepherds

Jian worked a wide variety of jobs to make a living before he met the Shepherds - though not all were strictly legal. He used his looks to turn a sticky situation to his advantage and became adept at lying and manipulating to suit his needs.

He owes his magical knowledge to a collection of stolen books, either taken from abandoned ruins or any number of his eccentric, unsuspecting patrons.

top center: Shepherds

Blade probably yells at him for changing some aspect of his uniform every other week.

top right: Day Off

When he isn’t working, Jian prefers to simply laze about and enjoy the day - hence his relaxed (though still somewhat presentable) state of dress.

mid left: Sword Arm

He’s ambidextrous, but mainly wields weapons in his right hand.

For protection from magical elements. Of the elements under his control, he prefers fire.

bottom left: Jian - one-handed - 31 in. (79 cm.), main weapon 

bottom right: Longbow - 70 in. (178 cm.), stealth/ambush weapon

there is a height measurement line reading 6′2″ (188 cm.)

on the right, the expression bubbles from left to right are anger/annoyance -> fondness/adoration (a rare one!) -> and over-confidence

the three boxes (going left -> right -> center) depict the scar under his left eye -> his signature red eyeliner + his Hunter streak -> and a midline tongue piercing

then his tattoos, meant to emulate the Japanese irezumi style

and then the smaller bits and bobs in his inventory, left to right:

Shepherds medallion: the cord has been refitted with a Chinese-style knotted silk string necklace;

the golden eagle clasp, displaying the back, to show how the pins are affixed;

a basic lockpicking set;

a coil of rope;

a quiver + arrows - 31.5 in. (80 cm.), don’t come for me if all of these weapon-related numbers are actually wack btw, i’m just estimating lmao !!;

and a mask that he only uses on missions, heavily referenced from the wolf of tsushima mask (from ghost of tsushima, of course) as well as various oni masks.

he should also have the crown of the farseers as well as the belt of hraska, but i.. got lazy and didn’t want to design anything else smh 😔

Day 02: Mythology & Spirits

managed to find the time and energy to do this for the @shepherds-of-haven summer event! always love drawing my prettiest boy mwah 💕

i decided to go with the vermilion bird of the south, one of the four guardians of the Chinese constellations that represents the direction south ofc but also the element fire and the color red (Jian’s favorites hehe) and the summer season!
