wymiyeon:
( ♛ // @jaehyunwy )
everything was a mess right now. her house was invaded by zombies and she couldn’t even save her father from those monsters, and now miyeon was left all alone. all by herself in the forest she was so familiar with by now. she had been crying for hours, not knowing what else should she do. the forest was probably not the safest place now, but it had always been her favourite, always been a place she went to clear her mind, so she thought it wouldn’t hurt to stay there for a while. everything was quiet for a moment, and she was good, but not for long.
suddenly she heard footsteps coming out of nowhere, causing her to quickly get up to check her surrounding, wary of any unwanted presence around. picking up her bag as she walked slowly, cautious eyes scanning the place. she had fought a few zombies before in her village and although she didn’t want to in the first place, somehow after they had engulfed her father back there, she swore she would fight them with all her might.
once she was pretty confident that this presence was nearby, miyeon reached for a piece of wood she could find, holding on it tight as she anticipated for the ‘zombie’ to finally show up. she could see him ( unfortunately she could only see his back ) from where she was hiding now, and surprisingly this zombie looked way too alive to be true, but she wouldn’t be fooled. “take this, you nasty creature!” without thinking much, she instantly swung the wood against what she believed was a zombie, hoping it would collapse once she hit his back.
His new schedule was fairly simple: wake up, eat, run. Run away from danger, run in to save people, run for your life. At night came the quiet, and sometimes he was able to sleep; sometimes he would lie awake, making out shapes in the darkness and trying to pick up any sound that he can hear. Paranoia was not a fun thing to have, but it was what had kept him from dying. He would pick paranoia over death any time.
Sometimes, especially during his most vulnerable, his mind would go to places that he tried avoiding at all costs and wonder what it would be like to stop fighting against the current and pick the latter. It would definitely be easier to succumb, yes, but will his conscience even let him die peacefully? There were people who looked to him for guidance at times like these. People actually depended on him. Hell, who was going to take care of his dog if he died or turned into one of them? Those thoughts were enough to keep him going, to make him run faster.
The forest was quiet, but not unsettlingly so. He could hear the cicadas in the distance, the twittering of birds from branches up ahead and rustling of leaves from the cool breeze that swept by him. This was the environment that he was used to, the one that he preferred, if one were to ask him, and the fact that there didn’t seem to be any zombies around was a plus. He had come there to check for a place where he and Sol could camp out, and it seemed like he had found one, where the trees were spaced apart enough that he could see anyone approaching from about half a mile away, while bushes and shrubs served as a cover. He  walked around the area, wrapped up in his thoughts and plans when he heard a voice behind him, followed by a sharp pain below his right shoulder, causing him to drop his bat as he fell to his knees.
❝ Ow, what the hell? ❞ He grumbled, reaching behind him to rub at the spot where he the pain was concentrated, when realization hit him and he suddenly shot up to his feet again, arms held out as he took a step back and almost tripped on his weapon. ❝ Please don’t kill me, I’m not one of them, I swear! ❞

wygoeun:
@jaehyunwy
if someone asked goeun if she missed swimming, her answer straightaway would be no. it would be a baldfaced lie, but she refused to acknowledge that quitting cold turkey something she had loved and pursued for fourteen out of the twenty years of her life may have been a bad idea. but as always, physical exercise helped keep her sane. in the months between the scandal getting out and moving to wonyang, goeun had become pretty sedentary - the humiliation was enough to keep her on the couch for days on end. but then she’d moved, and she told herself she was turning a new leaf, and she’d met another jock willing to wake up crazy early just to work out. ever day as her routine fell back into place her mind would clear again, even if only for a short while.
all in all, goeun was grateful to have jaehyun as a jogging buddy and a general guide to wonyang. the kind soul had repeatedly taken a load off her back, from pointing out cool hiking paths to keeping her company when jogging so creepy guys wouldn’t approach a girl alone on a trail to showing her how to get to the university library from the gym. even now, at 6:44 am, their breath fogging into the cool morning air, she could hear his steps rhythmically pound the pavement next to her, and she didn’t even have to turn her head to know he was there. jaehyun was a soothing presence by now, and even if she never really thanked him out loud, she figured he should know what it meant to her.
goeun glanced at her watch and slowed her pace to a walk, her heartbeat still pounding as her legs began to throb. “that’s sixty minutes,” she breathed out, tapping jaehyun on the shoulder for him to slow down too. they were back near campus again, and as sweaty and sticky as she probably was, the running had her stomach begging to be filled. “oppa, if you have time, why don’t we get something to eat?” she grinned at him, slipping on her jacket to cover some of the post-workout grime. “do you know anywhere we can go?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was routine for him. Getting up early in the morning was not difficult at all when one had been doing it for years, a morning jog around the city one of the very first activities in his agenda - the fact that Wonyang was a picturesque city in its quiet, waking moments was only an added bonus. It was officially american football season once again, the time when universities would compete against each other during the tiger bowl for a chance to participate in the kimchi bowl, which meant that the pressure placed on his team was doubled, maybe even tripled. Practice schedules were increased to five times a week, and their regimen was made even more grueling, but while most of his teammates were complaining about the added intensity, Jaehyun was going the extra mile - literally, in this case.
Goeun was one of the few people that he had known before even meeting them. After finding out from his sister that she had known of the former’s mother during her college days, even idolizing her as a fellow swimmer, he had grown curious of the girl who had been all that the media could talk about for weeks until they latched onto the next scandal. It was as if she never existed in the first place, save for the remaining articles and videos still existing online, and Jaehyun had almost forgotten about her when he saw her in the flesh and he almost did a double take. Despite the stuff that had been said about her still ringing fresh in his ears, he decided to get to know Goeun without prior judgment and, so far, it was one of the best things that he had done. Not only had he gained company for his jogs and workouts, beside him was someone that he had grown to consider as a friend, even a little sister, as his protective instinct always flared up whenever she was around.
❝ Really? It felt shorter than that. ❞ Time tended to fly by faster when one was having fun, he reasoned, slowing his pace to match hers. ❝ I know just the place. It’s nearby so we don’t have to walk very far. It’s a small cafe and they have the best glazed donuts ever. And some salads and sandwiches, I guess, but I don’t really care about those, I just love the donuts. ❞ Jovial laughter followed. As strict as he was on his workout routine, he was never one to resist his favorite confectionery. ❝ Ah, Goeun-ah, since we’re near the campus anyway, can we stop by the locker room first? I’d rather change into a new shirt, and I think I have an extra one there if you want to borrow it, though it’ll be quite big on you. ❞
( sweat it out )

Tumblr media
“Yeah for the last time, I got everything we need Jae literally from the storage I had at home to the top to bottom of that store we’re gonna be fine okay but we should really get going now ?” hani huffed slightly as he adjusted the practically overflowing bag on his shoulders, which no doubt jaehyun would take in a minute anyway since his small and frail body was definitely not of the right build and was bound to only slow them down further if he lugged all of this too. “have more faith in me, if i’m no good at the fighting i’d at least like to be decent at stocking up resources” he smiled small and wrapped his hoodie tighter around himself as he began to pace alongside the other.
“Where are we going, how many other people have you found so far?” they murmured softly as he handed the bag ( which he knew he’d be giving over sooner or later ) to the other and buried his lithe and tiny frame further into the massive sack of warmth. jaehyun had been doing the best so far at keeping those who were lost in a group, the dynamic worked better for fighting the zombies so any lone soldier was pretty much taken in.
hani hadn’t even been wondering the streets for that many days when jaehyun had found him and basically given him no choice but to be a part of his little survival family. it wasn’t even like hani could complain, he was small and slim and though resourceful and clever, totally lost. if anything he had needed jaehyun. even if initally he hadn’t wanted to admit it, it was like taking on a smart but totally dependent child but he liked to think he had somehow managed to get incredibly close to the other despite the limited time they’d had so far. after all it was him jaehyun was taking out on tasks like these, even if there were others better suited to the job, that had to count for something.
Tumblr media
His gaze held nothing but fondness as he listened, the corners of his lips curling upwards until a smile formed across his face, soft and steady. There was a sort of calm that always overtook him whenever Hani was around, a serenity that had been ever elusive since the world as they knew it turned into a scary place and most of the people that inhabited it turned into monsters. It was difficult to discern whom to trust nowadays. In this new world where people turned on others for safety or leverage, Hani was one of the very few that he felt comfortable dropping his guard around.
❝ I know, I know. I just wanted to make completely sure. ❞ There was a slight teasing edge to his tone, a hint of amusement and a bark of laughter. Jaehyun liked seeing him this way, liked how he got huffy at his repeated questions and constant nagging. It was a taste of normalcy in a world turned upside down, and he was determined to cling to it, even if it meant having to annoy the other from time to time. He then sobered up, teasing tone all but gone while his affectionate smile remained. ❝ I really appreciate what you’re doing, though. I’m glad that you’re the one I’m doing this with. ❞
And then he was taking the backpack from Hani, securing the straps onto his shoulders as they continued on their journey. Jaehyun was more than used to lifting heavy items, from heavy barbells at the gym to bulky camping gear during his trips, so having the added weight of the backpack on his person was barely a hindrance for him. It was one thing he can pride himself in, his strength. He wasn’t as smart as some, and he certainly wasn’t handling the situation as well as he had been hoping he would, but his physical strength was something the he and his allies can depend on, and so that had become his thing: the brawns of the group, fitting of a de facto leader. ❝ We’re still going to Cheonpo. My apartment is the new base, so everyone’s in there. We’ve got about eight other people so far, along with the two dogs. ❞
Getting an apartment by the beach turned out to be a good move in hindsight as there didn’t seem to be as many zombies in the area, especially when compared to other areas like Yongdeok and Songcheon. While he had heard from the radio of a safe place at the forest, (which would have been his second option for a home base, given his hiking and camping experience, though he wasn’t sure how the others would adjust to it) he wasn’t sold on the idea. With the betrayals that he had seen happen before him, the desperate state that people went into just to ensure their own survival, Jaehyun doubted if any place with other people was safe.

jirouwy:
orange hues stretched across the horizon, a blue canvas now splashed of vivid orange and red. ironic. it was enthralling, yet she overlooked such simple pleasantries when the world was… alive. the sunset was beautiful and amidst the chaos, the graying city, the lack of saturation of life, it was the only thing with vibrancy.
jirou was just right behind her partner, jaehyun. handgun ready, index finger resting on the side ring, senses were heightened. the smallest noise caught her attention, the nuzzle of her gun instantly aimed at the source. expecting the undead, she saw something heartbreaking instead. jirou didn’t even notice jaehyun had walked ahead.
( maybe it was jirou’s fault but jaehyun. dumbass. )
jirou was crouched, evidently staring at something before her. she turned to glance at jaehyun before stepping aside, still crouched. it was a little dog, a helpless whimpering little pipsqueak. “we have to help it,” jirou spoke with dread, her eyes almost identical to the puppy’s. however, clouded with predominant love for animals, she failed to notice the dog was wounded. soon, she heard growling and before jirou could step back, it was too late.
“fuck!”
A life of fear and caution was not what he had imagined himself having, not in a million years. Jaehyun was not one who took what he had for granted. He was more than aware of his privilege, of the opportunities that had either been handed to him or earned through his hard work. He was one who looked at the small and simple things in life with a heart full of appreciation and eyes filled with wonder, even in places and situations that most would consider to be less than optimal. In this case, however, he was finding it extremely difficult to see the bright side of things.
His heart broke at the sight. The thought of a dog so lonely and helpless tugged at his heartstrings, and Jaehyun was reminded of the time when he would try to sneak in strays into his dormitories at his old colleges, partly because he liked animals, but mostly because he can never stand to see one in that kind of situation. There was something wrong with this particular puppy, however. The hair at the back of his neck rose, goosebumps peppering his arms even before he even sighted the wound on the dog’s leg.
He thanked his lucky stars and years of playing sports for his quick reflexes, one hand grabbing Jirou’s arm and pulling her up and behind him, the other that was carrying the metal baseball bat swinging to deflect the puppy - not hard enough to do any real damage, but with enough force to send it back a couple of feet.
❝ Did it bite you? ❞ His voice was unusually tense, and though the question was directed at the female, his eyes were glued on the dog that was slowly getting up on its feet, growls emanating from its throat. He can’t possibly hit it again; he can’t hurt a dog. It’s not a dog anymore. Shit. What was he to do?

she drifts aimlessly, one hand in her pocket, her fingers curled around a lighter she picked up some four blocks back. tonight, seol thinks she finally understands what fear feels like, what fear looks like, what it smelled like. the moon shines ominously above her, casting an eerie glow over emptied streets. it’s a wasteland, she thinks. everything’s gone to hell. what used to be a bustling city has been reduced to shattered glass, smoke-choked night, and the stench of death and rotting flesh. everything suffocates. she’s suffocating.
seol doesn’t think it’s possible. but people are vanishing. dying. turning.
she rounds the block, hoping to find a safe place to hide when something sounds behind her (a snap of a branch? a crunch of glass?) and instinct has her retaliating fist-first. scared out of her mind, seol waits for the tell-tale thud of a body hitting the ground (it better be a body. because at the moment, all she has on her is a lighter and a bandaid. not exactly kill material if she’s about to be zombie bait and needs to fight for her life)–it doesn’t come. instead, she’s staring at a face all too familiar to her.
“jae? oh, thank god.” seol nearly comes undone. the adrenaline leaves her so suddenly, she almost cries in relief. soon, the fear dissipates and in its place is mild frustration. “yah! you scared me…”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He had been following her for the past couple of blocks behind them, keeping his eyes not only on her back, but also her surroundings. He knew that she was more than capable of defending herself. Hell, she probably had a better chance at survival than he did, with her guts and determination. You can probably save the human race with your sheer willpower, he had joked back then, when the situation had finally sunk in and he had to resort to humor to keep himself sane. He still couldn’t help but worry. He still couldn’t help but keep watch, couldn’t help but try to protect her from a distance.
Where was she going?
Being away from her made him antsy. Maybe it was because they were so close that they were moths to each other’s flames, drifting toward the other - sometimes unconsciously. His stride turned longer, the distance between them decreased until she was just there, in reach, close enough to tou-
❝ Ow, fuck! ❞ Okay, so maybe he had underestimated how sharp Seol’s senses were (another reason why he knew she could survive farther along than he will) because of all things he had expected, a hit to his jaw was the last one in mind.  ❝ I scared you? I’m not the one out here exploring alone. Why didn’t you tell me you were heading out? ❞

wyxseuls:
she took one last look at the shelf to check if there had been anything else she missed. drinking water. check. bandages. check. flashlight. check. batteries for the flashlight… “ give me a second. ” yeseul hurried to the next lane to look for what she needed, and while she ran, her eyes landed on a horror movie poster on the wall. at first glance, she thought it was one of the people affected by the virus ( she still couldn’t bring herself to call them ‘zombies’ ) and caused to her to take a step back as a loud yelp escaped her lips. she stopped herself by covering her mouth with her hand, and took a deep breath.
Tumblr media
once she was calm enough, she continued her search and eventually found what she was looking for. quick footsteps led her to where jaehyun was waiting for her, when she noticed the cash he left behind. “ i know you mean well but, really, how would we know who’s gonna end up with that money? ”
He nodded in response, only to realize that Yeseul couldn’t see him, so he blurted out an okay - enough for her to hear, but not too loud that his voice would resound through the entire place. He was busying himself placing his items inside his backpack when he heard her exclamation. Jaehyun’s mind went into overdrive, already conjuring up the worst scenarios that could happen before the rational part of his brain won out. He had scanned the whole area for any zombies that could be lurking, so the chances of there being one inside the building were slim to none. Even if he had somehow missed a walking corpse walking around and there actually was a zombie, Yeseul would call for him. Right? The next few moments were torture for him, but he finally managed a sigh of relief when Yeseul arrived safe and sound.
❝ Tell me, then, what's anyone gonna do with thirty thousand won? Eat it? ❞ Money didn’t have the same value as it did back then, as food, shelter and weapons became the new currencies. It was saddening, how most of what were once considered basic commodities were turned into luxuries. Jaehyun shot Yeseul a look of disapproval. ❝ Anyway, what was that, earlier? I heard you, you know. ❞

“make sure that, that’s actually the case. there’s no turning around for this point on,” she stated firmly. she had no interest in looting, but it didn’t hurt in checking if she needed something. actually, it did. the risks were high and she was ready to get back indoors. makes her wonder to herself why she came out anyway? talk about an impulsive move, right? “stupid,” she mumbles to herself while shaking her head. she looked around the area again for anything of need. spotting a a first aid kit. without another thought, she grabbed it quickly, and placed it into her bag. she already had two back inside, but one more could do some justice. she then turned back to him at the sound of his voice while placing money behind the counter. “been ready. let’s move out while it seems decent.”
Tumblr media
❝ Yeah, I’m certain that these are all that were left back there. I even checked the loading dock to make sure. ❞ Desperate times drove people to take desperate measures to ensure their survival, and he had been a witness to that. During the dawn of the outbreak, there had been news of stores being mobbed by the locals - even looted in some cases, and it only got more extreme as time progressed. Theft happened in broad daylight, and attacks were even made just to steal food and supplies. Jaehyun had thought that there was no need for him to partake in any of it, but as their inventory started dwindling and he began to take in more people, the need to provide grew and he found himself becoming just like them. Well, not exactly, because he wouldn’t dream of hurting anyone, plus he wasn’t the only one benefiting from what he was doing. However, despite his attempts at justification, the guilt was still present. He hated it.
Jaehyun nodded at her suggestion already making a move for the door with his weapon at the ready. ❝ You know what to do when we see anyone - alive or otherwise - out there, right? ❞

the longer they’d stay in one place, the antsier she became; even though this trip was necessary, there was a small part of soobin that didn’t want to come – at least, not as a lookout while the other sought whatever it was he needed. that said, soobin was quick to jump up from her place behind the register the moment he returned and stuck herself back to jaehyun’s side ( she couldn’t even afford to feel embarrassed about it- just safer ). he spoke up and her lips were pursed into a tight line while she stood with her back straight, chin-up with a breath of forced readiness ( readiness- a term used loosely, since her hand refused to loosen around the sleeve of jaehyun’s shirt ), but nonetheless, nodded eagerly.
“I was ready decades ago. It’s creepy here..”
Tumblr media
There it was - the silver lining in the storm cloud. The world had gone to shit, to put it simply, but it was still considered a miracle that the sun rose every morning, that the trees still stood firm and the ocean still blue. Most of the people he knew were alive and safe, and still managing to go on supply runs with him - notably Soobin. It wasn’t her obligation to go with him, and she definitely didn’t have to do it, given how anxious she was, yet she was there with him: another miracle in his book.
❝ Sorry for taking long, we need everything that we can get. At least now we’ve got crab and corn soup, and look! Shampoo! It’s lavender scented, too. ❞ Jaehyun grinned, hoping that his cheerfulness (albeit the tiniest bit forced) can lift some of her unease. With the new items placed inside his backpack and his trusty metal bat back in his hands, he took quiet steps back to the entrance with Soobin in tow, turning back to look at her when they reached it. ❝ I’m going to do a quick check to make sure there aren’t any... lurkers outside. It would only take ten seconds, is that okay? ❞

“help! my foot’s caught, i can’t get away!”
zombie msg masterpost | accepting
Maybe this was what he had been preparing for since he started to take an interest in football. Years of practices and plays, friendly competitions and state championships - all built up to sharpen his instincts and make the right decision at the snap of a finger. One second of hesitation can cost him the entire game. In this case, one second of hesitation can cost him a person’s life.
The turning of his heel and the shifting of his hands against the handle happened in synchronicity; right hand on the grip, left palm against the knob before he gave a mighty push. The end cap of the metal bat crashed against the zombie’s sternum, sending it back a few feet before it collapsed against a shelf. Aim for the head, they said, but he never can. The new gaping hole in the middle of its chest ought to slow it down, Jaehyun reasoned, but it wouldn’t be for long.
The weapon was passed toward a smaller pair of hands. ❝ If ugly over there gets back up, just swing with all you’ve got, alright? ❞ And then he was on his knees, pushing away the debris that littered the hardwood floor until it revealed the hole that Rubi’s foot had gone through. It was already hard to spot with all the bits of wood, plaster and glass scattered all over the room, but when you were being chased by a zombie, looking for holes on the ground wouldn’t be one’s top priority. He kept one hand on her ankle to protect it from any more damage while the other slithered through the gap and started pulling at the jagged edge until he heard the crackling of wood about to break. Pain shot up his hand as the splinters pierced through the tender skin of his fingers but he paid it no mind; all that mattered was that the section was weakening until it snapped off completely.
The back of his blood-stained hand swiped at his sweaty forehead and he looked up expectantly.
❝ Can you free it now? ❞ If not, he was ready to dive back in, even if he had to bleed a little more.

Breaths turned quicker; heart skipped one, two, three beats. Even though the most logical thing was to stay quiet and hide behind the car in hopes that the zombie would pass them by, his muscles ached to move. The adrenaline rush that was once his best friend became his greatest enemy as his body shifted into fight or flight mode, omitting staying in place and hiding from the selection. Jaehyun grasped the metal bat a little bit tighter than he usually did, more so to have something to hold on to than anything else.
Don’t move.
He looked at Jinsoo, took the opportunity to study his features now that he was just beside him, mere inches separating the shoulder of a sleeve from a cheekbone. So close, yet still so far.
Don’t breathe.
Should he say something? What can he say, anyway? I’m sorry for being an annoyance? Thank you for still being my friend despite our differing personalities? I’d rather they get me than they get you? No, he couldn’t say anything lest he give their location away.
Hope for the best.
The coast was clear. The sound of the bottom of a shoe scraping against asphalt (sign of a limp - if worst had come to worst, at least they had a chance of outrunning it) had all but disappeared, leaving behind the oppressing silence and a heavy air. Jaehyun heaved a sigh of relief, the only sound that he uttered for the next few hours.

“i wanted to travel the world, i wanted to do so much- and now i can’t. none of us can."
zombie msg masterpost | accepting
It was one of the many moments that he was made distinctly more aware of how privileged his life had been. Being born into a wealthy and influential family had its perks, most of which Jaehyun had been experiencing since his childhood. Travelling was a luxury for most people, something that had to be planned and saved up for - every moment documented, trying out everything offered to get the “full experience” to make it worth every penny spent - yet he and his family never had to worry about that. It was the norm for him to go wherever his feet itched to take him, and for many years since having a semblance of independence, he had been doing that. And he still had plans of doing it until he was older, but with their current situation, the possibility of him being able to live that same kind of lifestyle once again got farther and farther from his reach with each passing day.
He was devastated. Partly because it was only then that it sunk in that he might never be able to get that same thrill of exploring a new place, never get that weird satisfaction out of dropping his responsibilities to satisfy his craving for adventure. But, most of all, (and what had caused the sudden prickling sensation in his chest) he was devastated that Jinsoo might never be able to have the same experiences that he did.
It was a brief moment, one where the guards on his subconscious dropped and his mind was filled with visions - no, they weren’t visions, more like dreams, now - of watching the sunset at the Taj Mahal, going cliff jumping at Cape Town, and exploring the ruins at Machu Picchu. All of them he had already been exposed to, but in his vision, there were two of them. His own figure he recognized immediately, but the other one he was familiar with, too. He looked at Jinsoo and smiled despite the slight tick at his jaw brought upon by the realization that the vision that he had grown to love in the short while that he was graced by it was already ripped away by circumstance.
❝ Maybe we can check if any of those planes at the airport still work. Hell, I’d build us one from scratch if that’s what it’ll take. ❞ He could put his engineering skills to use, right? ❝ The weather at Venice is perfect around this time of the year, so that could be our first stop. ❞
His following laughter was like the coffee he used to take: sweet with a bitter aftertaste.

❝ I think I’ve got all I need now. ❞ Raiding a grocery store was not something that Jaehyun thought he would ever have to do, yet there he was, holding a bottle of shampoo and a box of instant soup packets. The shampoo he had found on the floor of the produce section, while the soup he found at the very top of a shelf that he had to climb while scouring the stock closet. Not his ideal grocery trip, but he had to make do, somehow. With a wad of bills left on top of the cash register, (just taking them was... still wrong, right?) he turned toward the other with a shrug of his shoulders.

Where was she?
The setting sun cast longer shadows, the breeze rustling the leaves of nearby trees. The soft clangs of a distant wind chime reached Jaehyun’s ears and he visibly shuddered. It was hard to believe that the area he was in used to be such a popular place before: rows of colorful shops, neon signs and street vendors trying to sell their products to passersby. Now, it was a barren wasteland with broken glass littering the sidewalk and dark interiors of business establishments that showed signs of being raided in the past. Not a soul was in sight, but now that he thought about it, it was preferable over having the bad kind of company. Now, if only he could find his companion.
❝ Jirou? Jirou, where are you? ❞ Keeping his volume low so as to not attract any zombies, he continued moving between cars and debris, swiftly avoiding stepping on anything that could make noise. He turned his back on her for a solid fifteen seconds (he was counting, of course) and she just disappeared. Where the hell had she gone off to? He had even searched two nearby alleys without much luck, but third turned out to be the charm as he found her partially hidden behind a dumpster doing God knew what. Running a hand through his hair, he sighed and approached her, frustration apparent in his tone. ❝ You can’t just run off like that. What are you doing there, anyway? ❞

for someone who always chooses to see the good in people, jaehyun can be very hard on himself. he wants to be a good person, but he’s the bar way too high to be realistic. it’s not like he wants to be a saint or anything, but he’s nitpicky, so, in his eyes, every good deed that he does is negated by something “bad” that he did, so he can’t be entirely good, can he? for now, his opinion on himself is neutral, but it can get pretty negative on bad days.
