MUSIC Music is one of the most universal ways of expression and communication for humankind and is present in the everyday lives of people of all ages and from all cultures around the world. Listening to music, singing, playing (informally, formally), creating (exploring, composing, improvising), whether individually and collectively, are common activities for the vast majority of people. Music represents an enjoyable activity in and of itself, but its influence goes beyond simple amusement. These activities not only allow the expression of personal inner states and feelings, but also can bring about many positive effects in those who engage in them. In terms of childhood and adolescence, for example, it has been demonstrated how musical training is likely to foster enhanced sound encoding in 9 to 15-year-olds and thus be related to reading skills, musical listening influences adolescents' perceived sense of agency and emotional well-being, positive use of music for mood regulation, etc. Personally speaking, music is something that I owe my sanity to. Being a young adult in 2022, I obviously get anxious and music helps in calming me down. Not just to uplift my mood, I use music to express what I feel. It is the type of art which has been around for so many years and will be there for many more. There are so many genres and generations when it comes to music, that it boggles your mind. So many artists to choose from, lyrical or melody. Music has helped in uplifting the language barrier as well. I have been listening to music in English since a kid and it has clearly enhanced my vocabulary and fluency.
