And here we have... ‘Leave all your love’ a painting born from a time in the hills of Peru, on the Inka Trail. I was 21 years old. Here I discovered a sense of this earths human history and formed my obsession with donkeys ... This being walked straight up to us during a rest stop and I can still remember his kind eyes, and wise presence. Like we had met before. 〰 Anyone else have a memory like that ? ? Please share! How can it be a week already since we opened the doors to my solo at @sydneyroadgallery!? I still have no words. . . No idea how to type the thanks to everyone’s kind feedback, the reactions to my life sized rhino as they walk into the gallery or comments on social media, the fact that he SOLD in the first 30 minutes of opening my show on Saturday and the support from my people that helped me make it all happen. From making frames, to videos, or giving wine or a helping hand with hanging or delivering, to the clean up crew and the sense maker of my jiber-ish words. The list goes on. It’s Saturday night and I’m painting away. There’s a bottle of wine and my Rhino teasing me and telling me to be patient. This time next week I will be tired, proud that I got everything done and excited that I did it. The week leading up to a solo exhibition is always stressful but has this excitable anticipation... the thing that an artist lives for.
