Toad (character)
Toad is a character from the famous Mario franchise which I want to talk about as It has a lot of similarties and was one of the first inspirations while making my main playable character which is also a mushrom.
A humanoid with a mushroom-like head, Toad was created by Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, and is portrayed as a citizen of the Mushroom Kingdom and is one of Princess Peach's most loyal attendants, constantly working on her behalf.

Shumi come home
Shumi come home is a small cosy exploration game involving a tiny mushroom who is trying to get home. I personally think that shumi come home is one of the closest inspirations for my game and rather a lot like how I wanted my game to be before I had to compromise because of time constraints.
"Play as a tiny lil' mushroom who's lost in the forest and can't find its way home. Explore unique areas freely at your own pace, chat with friendly inhabitants, and take on different adventures to get back home!"

It Takes Two
It Takes Two is a cooperative only game involving two dolls possessed by a couple about to separate showing it as a story of heartfelt emotions mixed in with its whimsical look and approach like how my game will become.
"The parents find themselves trapped inside the dolls' bodies as a consequence of Rose's tears landing on the dolls. Dr. Hakim, who has assumed the anthropomorphic form of his relationship therapy book, tells May and Cody that he has been given the job of trying to fix their relationship as they try to reach Rose."
"The game features a large number of game mechanics from various video game genres. These gameplay mechanics are connected to the story and the theme of the level."

Grounded
Grounded is a survival game involving tiny humans in a normal world which means you have to battle and avoid normal insects with the only fantasy part involving the protagonists or players.
"The world is a vast, beautiful and dangerous place – especially when you have been shrunk to the size of an ant. Can you thrive alongside the hordes of giant insects, fighting to survive the perils of the backyard?"

Idea generation and moodboard
All of my idea revolve around a central theme - miniature worlds and multiple small characters. Below is a mood board for the type of world I image creating:
First Idea: You Are The Mushroom
My first big idea is somewhat of a therapeutic game which Involves being a mushroom and a traversing the wilderness to gather more mushrooms to join. The game will be heavily inspired by Pikmin and Katamari Damacy .
Second Idea: ...
The second Idea I have for my game would be something definitely with a first thought of being in a first person view and will involve a similar vibe as the previous idea of being a somewhat small creature with a vast world for that species and will focus on the calming and beautiful side of nature while you look for various items taking much inspiration from the korok seeds in Breath of the Wild and the slimes from Slime Rancher.
Third Idea: ...
The Third Idea Is definitely significantly different from the other two while still trying to keep that overall concept with the idea of small creatures and them creatures expanding by more you find and such. But this Idea has much more of a combat feel to it With you having to summon the creatures you have collected through the world and helping you fight very similar to how its used in games such as Overlord, Brutal Legend and the minigame Fort Condor in Final Fantasy VII.

Fungi and Culture
Why fungi matter | Grow Wild | Kew
Add a fact about Fungi and its importance in food industry....
Lots of mushrooms are edible (and delicious), but you might be surprised to learn how many common foods and drinks are made using less visible types of fungi.
Many Fungi are used to make such great food without being seen meaning we rely on such organisms more than we take it granted for.

Fungi and Sustainability
Fungi: The Hidden Heroes of Ecosystems | Earth.Org
What role to fungi play in eco systems (add a quote and what you think about it - LIKE THE EXAMPLE BELOW)
fungi play a crucial role in nutrient cycling, ensuring the availability of essential elements like carbon, nitrogen, and phosphorus for other organisms.
Fungi pave ways for other resources and organisms to grow and be more nutrimental for nature and the environment
Fungi and Cleaning Up oil Spills
Mycoremediation: How Mushrooms Help Clean Up the Environment – R&R Cultivation (rrcultivation.com)
"One of the most famous mycoremediation success stories is the use of oyster mushrooms to remediate oil-contaminated soil. These tenacious fungi efficiently break down petroleum hydrocarbons, converting them into harmless byproducts and restoring the soil's health."
Oyster mushrooms are used to help clean up oil spills while rejuvenating the environment and are one of the only effective means of doing this.

Player Character Setup
Coming up with a simple solution of the character and its animations was to bound each of the magicavoxel models to the bones of the existing character skeleton.
Adding the components to the actor
We added sockets to each one of the arms and legs of the skeleton

Spore (Collectible) and Giving to NPC
When Spore collected cast to player character and set Boolean variable to true then spawn a new Spore at a random location.
Add a custom Material to Spore so easier to see
Check overlapped actor is player then check if player has collectible - if true remove collectible and set NPC as grown.
Once we've set it as grown NPCs, It will then set to spawn 2 and goes up by 2 every time
Replacing The NPCs with a new actor with a grown NPC actor, Increasing the speed of the player character and destroys self

Early gameplay showcase (and a reoccurring bug)
Bug was if in collision for NPC when collecting spore - would not add spore to NPC
Quick fix - reduce scale of collision sphere and adjust code so on the mesh shrinks not entire actor.

The random Location for the NPC and Collectible (Spore) plus NPC shrinking over time.
Get random location and spawn each actor there (above)
Over time reduce NPC health and use this to either reduce scale of NPC or Destroy self.
When NPC dies keep track of this on the player character using a Custom Event.

Mushroom playable character progression
This is the Mushroom playable character I made for the FMP where I used MagicaVoxel to make it and all the sprites or characters. I went for a very simplistic design and made it very kid like and joyful something you would see in minecraft with its cubey design

1st week Ill like to build the look of a the game and characters and document that on my blog, Although many of the the assets will not be mine to create as im running low on time.
In the 2nd week I would like to attempt to make many of the systems of the game such as collectibles and UI but many of my other ideas might or will have to get scrapped due to lack of time
