I used the theme of Italy simply because I love the country and all of the attractions within it. To make my zine I used a piece of paper out of my mixed media sketchbook. For drawing materials, I used various sizes of micron pens and colored pencils. The pages are strictly black and white, but when it is opened up, on the back, there is a map. The map is green with red pins. These are complimentary colors.
Drawing has always been difficult for me, my vision required me to overcome this obstacle. After consecutive trials on each page, I was able to draw a great outcome. My favorite part about my zine is how interactive it is. Aside from each page, when the front and back are open and next to each other, their backgrounds connect making it a larger picture. Also, I like that the map is marked with the location of each tourist attraction represented on each page.

From what I can see I think the final outcome of the zine is going to be great. I like the theme of graphic design? Im excited to-see how he found materials and paint look together!

Your designs in illustrator look very clean. I’m assuming the theme is something with love, which I think is pretty cool. I’m looking forward to seeing the final product!

I have the final outline for the map, I just need to color it in and add the pins of the locations.
I have been practicing drawing the places, but haven’t not started drawing them on the actual paper because I wanted to wait till I finished the back to fold it up.

I am currently trying to figure out what to use for the map on the back of the zine. It’s going to be green, but I want the green to look like a regular map, so I am testing different markers and materials.

A zine is something an artist independently wants to express. Zines are very easy to make, they are usually folded in different ways. They are hand made and photocopied to make replicas. Artists usually cut and glue or draw to create a zine, compared to a magazine that is just digitally done.
Zines are often cheap to make. They started as si-fis in the 1930s but over time changed to what we know them as today. I zine can be about anything you want. It could be completely pointless. In the ’90s artists started to use the internet to get their work out in the world. Therefore zines became less popular.

I love this because of the trust theme. It’s unique because the pictures are in different shapes.

I enjoy this zine because of how simple it is.
