A golden retriever service dog named Figo saved a life when he leaped in front of a small school bus in an effort to protect his blind owner. "I've seen dogs protect their owners when an intruder is coming at them, but not from an automobile," Brewster Village's chief of police John Del Gardo told ABC News. Audrey Stone, the woman that Figo guides, was walking through an intersection on North Main Street on Monday morning when a bus struck the pair in the center of the walkway, police said.

Happy New Year! It's starting off with a burst of creative energy. My brother has been telling me to watch Battlestar Galactica for the past few years. Well, I caught a bad cold or flu over the holidays so I finally figured I'd give the re-imagined series a try. I ended up binge watching all four seasons. This turned out to be a great thing. I got rest and I was inspired by the writing and creativity that went into the series, but the most inspiration piece I took away from it was Bear McCreary's compositions. The music to that series is amazing. As I started to feel better this past weekend, I listened to this soundtrack while I retouched several images and while I shot a few self-portraits. So, to the actual topic of this post, here's a fantasy portrait. Stylist and MUA is me. The sword is my very first Claymore.

This theme is extremely personal to me. My father lost his sight to macular degeneration. While he's adapted and is doing well today, the initial loss was sudden. We don't realize how much we rely on our sight until we lose it. I wanted to capture the trauma, terror, and emotions of suddenly losing sight.
