Further exploring our hood we discover authentic Korean walnut pastries (served warm in a sack) in the back of a huge Korean market where the local BBQ purveyors buy their meat. Yum!

Don't worry! We're not dead!
We shut down the blog during our (fairly harrowing) apartment hunt because we didn't want our families hopping on a flight to LAX to kidnap us and bring us back to NYC.
Now that we found our (PERFECT!) LA home in the heart of Koreatown (OMG SO MUCH KARAOKE), we can laugh about our adventures navigating through places we nicknamed "Pee Pee City," "Homeless City" and "Carpet Stain City."
Luckily, some friends on Camellia Street let us crash at their place so we weren't homeless.
Much to Jim's pleasure, the Camellia crew was dog-sitting an adorable, obese Chihuahua named Tiki. She's 10000 years old, doped up on meds and rather rotund. Bless her little (overworked) heart.
Sure, apartment hunting was stressful, but that didn't stop us from eating like kings, playing some pinball and keeping up with the Kardashians Olympics.
Once we signed a lease for our (massive!!) new (rental) house, it was time to decorate. Shout out to Camellia roomie Sara for introducing us to our new favorite place on Earth: TINI! (That stands for "This Is Not Ikea!") We scored a refurbished picnic table for the dining room, a cool workbench for the foyer and a new dresser for our bedroom. (Yes, NYers, we did mention the words 'dining room' and 'foyer' in our house description. There are also enough built-ins in our home office to house Jim's robust record collection and Jess' library. Jackpot!)
Did we mention we have two different patios? #DealWithIt
Our homeless week in LA ended with a glorious home-cooked meal by our friend Adam Roberts, also known as THE AMATEUR GOURMET. You can read about our meal here. And be sure to check out his upcoming book. It's an essential addition to anyone's cookbook collection.
So far, we've been loving our neighborhood. We found walkable pinball (a must!), a Mexican place that's open til 2 a.m. AND a shaved ice joint that has an insane, oddly delicious concoction of strawberry ice, tons of fruit, a scoop of ice cream and Fruity Pebbles. WHAT IN THE WHAT.
More updates to come soon... Our stuff from NY arrives tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed it's all in one piece. Eep.

Just heard back to back radio ads for cheap plastic surgery and catastrophic earthquake insurance. Welcome to LA!

In typical jamba form, we refused to pay to actually see Bedrock City, and took pics in the parking lot instead.
