There are two main theories explaining why this can’t really “work”.

The first and most common (Selden, 2004) is the self-detection model, based on experiments by Blakemore et al. (1998).

According to Selden, our brain recognizes when the stimuli come from ourselves, and block them as they are irrelevant — tickling works as a defense mechanism against external threats.

Blakemore proposed that cerebellum is involved in predicting the specific sensory consequences of movements, providing the signal that is used to cancel the somatosensory response to self-produced tactile stimulation (feed-forward model).

The second theory is far less known. Intriguingly, it argues that previous model does not explain why Tickle supresión occurs even when self-tickling is applied at the same time of external tickling.

Ishiyama et al. (2019) proposed the GABAergic Inhibition Suppression Model, which hypothesized that tickle inhibition occurs because of a general suppression of stimuli when self-touch is applied.

First things first: the rules

1. Entry to the party is strictly prohibited for anyone under the age of 18.

2. The use of smartphones or any other devices capable of recording audio or images is strictly forbidden. Such devices may be left in the secure lockers provided at the entrance. Additionally, it is not permitted to share any information about those present outside the event. Anyone found in breach of this rule will be asked to leave and will be barred indefinitely from future events.

3. Consent is absolutely essential. The event operates a strict no uninvited touch policy, which applies to all forms of physical contact. It is not permitted to disturb or interrupt those engaged in play, nor to involve oneself in an ongoing scene without the explicit consent of all parties involved.

4. Participants are responsible for maintaining the hygiene of any equipment and play surfaces they use. Cleaning materials are provided free of charge by the organisers, who will ensure that all health and safety regulations are fully observed when the doors open.

5. The use of illegal drugs is not permitted. Alcohol consumption is tolerated, provided it is done responsibly and does not cause any disturbance to others, whether during play or otherwise.

6. Kink shaming and any other form of discrimination are strictly prohibited.

7. Staff are on hand to assist if needed, and reserve the right to remove anyone who causes discomfort to others or jeopardises the safety of the environment. Participants are discouraged from taking matters into their own hands in the event of suspected danger or abuse; instead, they are asked to alert staff, who will respond promptly and take the necessary action. Dungeon monitors can be identified by their luminous wristbands.

8. Attendance at the event does not guarantee a play session. No form of sex work is permitted or facilitated at the event, including tickling.

Let’s introduce myself

Hoy! Here is James, born in 1986, from Italy.

Tickling has been freaking me out for as far back as I can recall, and I’m on Tumblr to connect with fellow enthusiasts, share thoughts, and have fun.

ah yes, i remember when i played with an "experienced ler" nearly ten years my senior as a young 22 year old.
