I started this blog to chronical my attempt at crocheting a temperature blanket. Now that that project is finished, I guess I'll just post other stuff I try to make

I actually finished something! This project actually went pretty fast, I think I was only working on it a couple months. It uses red heart hygee yarn, which is a #5 yarn, so that probably helped. Also, it's something I made for myself, which doesn't happen often. I kid you not, it weighs three pounds; it's going to be so nice to wear when it gets cold out.
I went a little overboard adding the fringe, the pattern called for 96 pieces of fringe, and I doubled that, oops. That was totally not my intention, but once you start using too much, you can't really stop, so I just had to keep cutting more lol.
Now that this is done, I can fully focus on my Christmas presents. One scarf is about half way done, and the other is started, but now very far into it. I'm going on vacation next week, so I'm bringing the yarn for present #3 with me and hopefully I can get a good start on that. #4 I'll get around to eventually and #5 I started a long time ago, so I just need to go back to it. It's a lot of small, time consuming work, but it's for my grandma, so I have to power through and get it done.

Woo! I finished something! My friend is having a first birthday party for her son this weekend, and I decided to make him a very hungry caterpillar lovey. I still have a million projects going, but yay for actually crossing something off the list.

Despite the fact that I have one million projects in process, and I haven't actually completed anything in forever, I just ordered a bunch of yarn for Christmas presents. Maybe if I start in August, I'll actually complete everything in time for Christmas (unlikely) 🤣

I have no impulse control when it comes to yarn...

Sigh. I'm never allowed to go to Joann's. I was trying to find some yarn to finish my mom's tank top with and I was just feeling the different yarns, when I came across red heart hygee yarn. Bag idea. Now I want to drop all my other projects and start making something with that yarn. In the summer. When it's hot. And I just bought new yarn for something else last week. I have problems.

I realized Saturday when I got the lasik ask that I hadn't posted in forever, not because I haven't done anything, but because I haven't finished anything. Looking at the last picture I did compared to the pictures I took today, I'm surprised at how much I've actually gotten done in the last couple months. Go me! Even though I said I wouldn't start anything new until I finished something, I started something new. For good reason though! My mom's birthday is in the beginning of June, so I started making her a tank top. It's made of four granny squares, so I started making it out of left over colors I had from my sister's temp blanket. (I say started, because so far I've bought 2 new skeins and I have at least two more to buy.) So yeah, here's some updated pictures of everything I've worked on since March. Well, almost everything lol.

Hi, how long did the bluriness post lasik lasted?
I still have it occasionally, but the worst lasted about a month and a half. I think part of my problem is eye allergies (a large part of why I decided to get lasik) plus not using eye drops as much as I should.

I found that I still crochet if I use larger yarn, so I'm working on my sweater again, since it's using bulky yarn. I called my doctor and asked, and they said that the blurriness could last about a week. My main problem is that we're beginning allergy season, and my allergies are in my eyes (one of the main reasons I got lasik, because due to my allergies I was only able to wear daily contacts, which were EXPENSIVE). So the allergies dry out my eyes, which make my vision blurry. I have a box of eye drops that were supposed to last a month; since Wednesday I've gone through half the box. Oh well, still worth it.
Anyways, another bad side effect of not being able to crochet is that I've been on Pinterest looking at patterns again, which means I have new ideas and have been looking for yarn to use. The really bad thing is that I don't even have a pattern in mind, just a color scheme, which is actually good, because I can't buy yarn if I don't know how much I need 😆. My vision better clear up soon lol
Edit: damnit, I think I found a pattern to use. I will not buy more yarn and start a new project until I finish a project. I will not buy new yarn and start a new project until I finish a new project. I will not buy new yarn and start a new project until I finish a project...

I got lasik this week, so now I don't need glasses/contacts!!! It's amazing, but, unfortunately, my vision is still too blurry to crochet right now. They said the blurriness usually lasts around a week, but I miss crocheting so much!!! It's really weird, I can read on my phone mostly ok, but I'm not able to focus on small stitches. Hopefully everything clears up soon so I can get back to it 🤞

I am terrible. Even though I said I wouldn't, I currently have five projects going. All very slow, because I have five. In my defense, they all have special times/conditions for when I'll work on them 😆. But, something good I did was organize my yarn stash, and unexpectedly, everything actually fits in the space I have, which is awesome, because it didn't before. So here's a couple pictures of my newly organized space and 4/5 projects (the fifth starts at my mom's house).

I finished a row and went to grab a drink. Guess I'm taking a longer break than expected 🤣

It is extremely unpleasantly cold outside right now (today's high was 5°) and I realized I don't have any gloves in my apartment. Obviously, my first thought was that I'll just make a pair, but seemed like more work than I wanted to do, so I found a pair of fingerless gloves I made awhile ago and decided to turn them into mittens. Here's my results.

Omg, someone needs to take my internet away!!! I currently have like 4 projects going, but it's -1° outside right now, so I decided to look up warm cardigan patterns online, and next thing you know, I have three different yarn store pages open looking for super chunky yarn. I need to finish my current projects before starting new ones!!!!!
Edit:
Ok, in my defense, I did get a lot of work done on my second blanket this weekend. I was snowed in at my parents' house, so progress was made lol. (I didn't want to take my sister's blanket to work on, because there is currently four balls of yarn attached to it, and that seemed like to much work trying to transport it and not make a big tangled mess 🤣

Here is the top left quarter of the c2c blanket I'm making my sister, using red heart heat wave yarn. After making the first square, i realized it isn't as big as I wanted, so I added another 10 c2c squares to the height and width. That was a pain to figure out, but I think it's going to look pretty cool. (She, of course, doesn't care what it looks like, as long as I made it bigger lol)

#crochet#corner to corner#blanket#my back hurts from counting little squares#to make written instructions for myself

I finally finished my sister's actual Christmas present, so now I'm down to 4 projects instead of 5 🤣. The fourth project is something I'm working on at my mom's, so only on the weekends, so it doesn't really count. The other three are in various stages of nowhere-near-done, but hey, at least something is done 😆
