I am Jamil Gatdula, I am from Tarlac where most of the people living there are Ilocano and now I want to share my experience and what I learned about the Ilocano culture.
The Ilocanos are thrifty, hardworking and talented. They are known for having simple but tasty dishes like "dinakdakan", which is grilled or fried pork cut into small pieces mixed with spices. This is one of my favorite dish from the Ilocanos. Another dish that is also known is "pinakbet", which is a mixture of mixed vegetables with fish paste, also made by the Ilocanos and many more.
They are also known for having various occasions such as festivals and various receptions where all their relatives and acquaintances are invited to attend. One example of an Ilocano festival is the Panagbenga festival held in Baguio where there are various parades representing the different cultures of the Ilocanos. There are also pandango and tinikling dancers who also perform on the day of the festival. They also share their different dishes with the people.
The Ilocanos have an appreciation for things, especially their families, which have come from their ancestors and continue to be passed down to the present. They are one of the treasures of our country and their unique culture is very beautiful and amazing.
