Left 4 Dead 2 but if the apocalypse started ten years earlier - 1999 AU

Here’s some info about what I personally think the survivors were doing during this time, just before the outbreak started!

Ellis: Just a little kid having fun. He’d be in middle school at this age, and I think it’d be cute if this was also during the time he met his new buddy Keith! All of his stories are mainly about his family now, with the occasional “I met this other guy at school named Keith, and man, he’s frickin’ nuts!”. He doesn’t have as much knowledge about mechanics as he does in his 20s, but he’s always been plenty crafty. And remains obsessed with Jimmy Gibbs Jr! Also, he’s growing out a mullet :3

Nick: He’s hopping from odd job to odd job, mostly in sketchy areas like those underground gambling areas as a poker dealer, nightclubs as a bouncer (referencing that one line when he picks up a baseball bat and is asked about it), or scamming people as a conman in dark alleyways. Newly wed but you can’t see the wedding ring on his finger in this drawing :’) During the time of the apocalypse starting I’d like to think he was in the middle of one of his jobs that required him to drive all the way to Georgia, which is why I drew him dressed smartly!

Coach: Not much changes with Coach here since I feel like the most recent major change in his life was when he injured his knee in college. I’d like to think he’s been teaching kids for a long time, and can especially deal with 13-year-old Ellis’ shenanigans when it’s most important in a zombie outbreak of all things…

Rochelle: She’s a college student during this time; think Zoey but instead of being a film major, she majors in digital media or communications/journalism for her job in the news. I imagine Rochelle was the snarky studious kind of student that didn’t have many friends, people see her as uptight even though the girl’s just trying to get her work done…She’s in the middle of doing a college-based internship (perhaps about covering news on Southern happenings and somesuch things 🧐) in Georgia when the infection is ramping up, just her luck </3

Nick and Rochelle are not happy to share a spot on the team with a middle schooler but Coach insisted that they shouldn’t leave Ellis behind just because he’s a kid 🥲 and so the gang is formed!

Here comes Brad. He gave Trev the drug that pretty much led him to tweak out. Brad didn't even bother to help Mike because A: He is a lazy POS and B: he was hoping Trev kill Mike. This would cut him out permanently and Trev and Brad would be the "perfect psychotic duo"
