Our Place in the Universe
Earth as seen by Apollo 11 astronauts.
This incredible image of the Earth rise was taken during lunar orbit by the Apollo 11 mission crew in July of 1969.
Earth seen from Mars.
Earth seen from Saturn.
On February 14, 1990, the Voyager 1 spacecraft saw Earth from a distance of nearly four billion miles, capturing a view of our planet later described by scientist Carl Sagan as a “Pale Blue Dot.”
Planet Earth compared to solar system bodies.
The Solar System is located in the Milky Way, a barred spiral galaxy with a diameter of about 100,000 light-years containing more than 100 billion stars. The Sun resides in one of the Milky Way's outer spiral arms, known as the Orion–Cygnus Arm or Local Spur. The Sun lies about 26,660 light-years from the Galactic Center (where the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A* is located), and its speed around the center of the Milky Way is about 220 km/s, so that it completes one revolution every 240 million years.
The Local Group is the galaxy group that includes the Milky Way. It has a total diameter of roughly 3 megaparsecs, and a total mass of the order of 2×1012 solar masses. It consists of two collections of galaxies in a "dumbbell" shape; the Milky Way and its satellites form one lobe, and the Andromeda Galaxy and its satellites constitute the other. The two collections are separated by about 800 kiloparsecs and are moving toward one another with a velocity of 123 km/s. The group itself is a part of the larger Virgo Supercluster, which may be a part of the Laniakea Supercluster. The exact number of galaxies in the Local Group is unknown as some are occluded by the Milky Way; however, at least 80 members are known, most of which are dwarf galaxies.
The Virgo Cluster is a large cluster of galaxies whose center is 53.8 Mly away in the constellation Virgo. Comprising approximately 1,300 (and possibly up to 2,000) member galaxies, the cluster forms the heart of the larger Virgo Supercluster, of which the Local Group (containing our Milky Way galaxy) is a member.
The Virgo Supercluster is a mass concentration of galaxies containing the Virgo Cluster and Local Group, which itself contains the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies, as well as others. At least 100 galaxy groups and clusters are located within its diameter of 33 megaparsecs (110 million light-years). The Virgo SC is one of about 10 million superclusters in the observable universe and is in the Pisces–Cetus Supercluster Complex, a galaxy filament.
The observable universe is a ball-shaped region of the universe comprising all matter that can be observed from Earth or its space-based telescopes and exploratory probes at the present time, because the electromagnetic radiation from these objects has had time to reach the Solar System and Earth since the beginning of the cosmological expansion. There may be 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe, although that number was reduced in 2021 to only several hundred billion based on data from New Horizons. The radius of the observable universe is therefore estimated to be about 46.5 billion light-years and its diameter about 28.5 gigaparsecs (93 billion light-years), which equals 880 yottametres.
The multiverse is a hypothetical group of multiple universes. Together, these universes comprise everything that exists: the entirety of space, time, matter, energy, information, and the physical laws and constants that describe them. The different universes within the multiverse are called "parallel universes", "other universes", "alternate universes", or "many worlds

Circumstellar habitable zone
In astronomy and astrobiology, the circumstellar habitable zone (CHZ), or simply the habitable zone, is the range of orbitsaround a star within which a planetary surface can support liquid water given sufficient atmospheric pressure.
Tumblr media
The bounds of the CHZ are based on Earth’s position in the Solar System and the amount of radiant energy it receives from the Sun.
Tumblr media
Due to the importance of liquid water to Earth’s biosphere, the nature of the CHZ and the objects within it may be instrumental in determining the scope and distribution of Earth-like extraterrestrial life and intelligence.
Tumblr media
Since the concept was first presented in 1953, many stars have been confirmed to possess a CHZ planet, including some systems that consist of multiple CHZ planets. Most such planets, being super-Earths or gas giants, are more massive than Earth, because such planets are easier to detect.
Tumblr media
On November 4, 2013, astronomers reported, based on Kepler data, that there could be as many as 40 billion Earth-sized planets orbiting in the habitable zones of Sun-like stars and red dwarfs in the Milky Way.11 billion of these may be orbiting Sun-like stars. Proxima Centauri b, located about 4.2 light-years (1.3 parsecs) from Earth in the constellation of Centaurus, is the nearest known exoplanet, and is orbiting in the habitable zone of its star.
Tumblr media
The CHZ is also of particular interest to the emerging field of habitability of natural satellites, because planetary-mass moons in the CHZ might outnumber planets.
Tumblr media
Stars that are smaller, cooler and lower mass than the Sun (M-dwarfs) have their habitable zone much closer to the star than the Sun (G-dwarf). Stars that are larger, hotter and more massive than the Sun (A-dwarfs) have their habitable zone much farther out from the star.

Disney in 10 years:
"Here's a new 4 season (maybe 9 season) Star Wars series about this side character's nephew's grandpa who was absolutely pivotal to the rebels winning in the original trilogy because he did this one super important thing and also all we have so many cameos and references you will be brought to tears and also we will also use this series to fix...ahem explain plot holes....I mean explain some things that were unclear in the last series we did (you'll have to read the comic first, and this one-off graphic novel right before episode 12 that you can only get if you buy this exclusive action figure, and play the 206th dlc of Fortnite to understand it fully) you're going to love it I promise"

So, there's a lot I have to say about The Batman, most of it pertaining to how excellent Zoë Kravitz was, because I have never seen such a fantastic Selina Kyle. However, the thing I'm stuck on second to the soundtrack and scoring, at least emotionally speaking, is how clearly, honestly, painfully neurodivergent Pattinson's Bruce Wayne is.
Bruce's silence, soft-spokenness, and visceral social anxiety remind me so much of how I was from childhood through my twenties. I couldn't get words past my teeth unless I was performing, not being myself. The expressiveness behind his eyes, though, fuck. I don't think I've ever seen a character that read so strongly as the same combination of Autism Spectrum, PTSD, and sheer anxiety that I've experienced in my own life. The total absence of a playboy persona and hypermasculinity was so welcome.
The other telling thing, too, was how other people, specifically other men, acted around and toward him. Everyone except Alfred, but maybe even Alfred to a small degree, treated him like this sweet, fragile naïve thing from whom the truth needed to be concealed at all costs. Like he'd shatter. Like he'd just never understand how the real world works.
My father treats me like this.
My brother treats me like this.
Even a couple of my sisters treat me like this.
Seeing people treat him the way people have treated me my whole life had me in tears. The scene where he goes to confront Falcone especially. That brand of condescension and pity makes me want to smash every glass item I own.

Obsessed with how shy Bruce was. He was so introverted and awkward. He comes across so confident when he’s in the suit but immediately when he’s out of it he seems like he just wants to sink through the floor when talking with people. Every time he had to make eye contact it looked like it caused him physical pain. Incredible

The true deadly sins
Lust
Not a sin- feeling sexual attraction, sex with consenting partners, masturbation, consuming pornographic media, having several sexual partners, sex before mariage. IT’S A SIN WHEN- the person projects lust onto an unwilling recipient person and does not take into account their wants or consent. Rape, harassment, sexual assault, catcalling, dick pics.
Gluttony
Not a sin- food, enjoying food, cooking, eating sweets, eating meat. In the larger sense, accumulating material things you enjoy, like books or collectibles or whatever.  IT’S A SIN WHEN- It deprives other people of what they need.
Envy
Not a sin: Wanting things you see other people have, like money, power, fame. IT’S A SIN WHEN: This is how you define people, and stop respecting them as humans. It’s a sin when you use them for what they have and what they can bring you.
Greed
Not a sin: Wanting financial security, working hard for the things you want.  IT’S A SIN WHEN: Your own financial growth depends on keeping other people impoverished and suffering.
Pride
Not a sin: Being proud of your accomplishments, liking your looks, dressing up IT’S A SIN WHEN: It stops you from accepting your faults and seeing how you can be wrong, not admitting that you can better yourself.
Wrath
Not a sin: Righteous anger at situations, being mistreated, seeing other people suffer, at the injustice of the world. Self-defense. Revolution.  IT’S A SIN WHEN: Violence towards defenceless people, hitting your partner or your kids,.  Violence fuelled by intolerance and bigotry.
Sloth
Not a sin: Resting. Sleeping. Taking a day or a year off. Being unproductive. Playing videogames. IT’S A SIN WHEN: You stay inactive when action is required. When people need you and you’d rather do nothing.

Chapter 95-2 thoughts
I don’t have a whole lot in terms of speculation, mostly feelings, so here we go. Spoilers under the cut. Also, a content warning for discussions of child abuse.

You know, I totally take it for granted how much @fast-moon works to make everything clean and presentable. I mean, look at these caps. You can’t even tell the Japanese was erased from these:
Tumblr media
This cap must have been a pain in the ass to clean, what with the different striations and everything, but you can’t even tell the lettering had been erased. And this?
Tumblr media
The shading in the window is unbroken. Again you can’t even tell there was a gap missing there. Same goes for this section here:
Tumblr media
The different shading/hatch markings on Yukine’s ribbons was colored in perfectly. Amazing job as always! Thank you @fast-moon XD
