To Black River.
Today we drove to Black River via YS Falls. Where you do zip lining above the waterfalls high into a massive tree. On the way there we blew the front right tire on the Hyundai. When we got out of the car to check it out the tire was completely of the rim and spewing black smoke. It was pretty gnarly. We put on the donut and as we were jacking up the car a nice, luckily, police officer slowed traffic as the car was in a rather precarious spot in a bend. Then he was nice enough to escort us slowly to a garage. Then at the garage they actually had a tire that would fit our imported canadian car. A rather impressive feat for rural Jamaica.  Now we're back at the hotel, Idlers Rest. Its a quiet place just out of Black River. We spent a solid hour chillin, on the ocean view patio, watching a massive fire spread through Black River. I would hate to be over there right now.

Here's a picture I took of guy while we were waiting at Y Knot's for the boat to Lime Cay. It was really bright, and hot. We now have horrid sun burns.

Here's a little clip we thought you might wanna see. This plant reacts to, I guess, the moisture or oils on your skin. It's carnivorous and eats bugs. Pretty cool.
I looked it up and I was half right about the reaction. Has to do with the cells collapsing due to chemical reaction.
"The movement occurs when specific regions of cells lose turgor pressure, which is the force that is applied onto the cell wall by water within the cell vacuoles and other cell contents. When the plant is disturbed, specific regions on the stems are stimulated to release chemicals including potassium ions which force water out of the cell vacuoles and the water diffuses out of the cells, producing a loss of cell pressure and cell collapse;"

Today Guy and I went to Lime Cay. Its a little island, well sand bar really, just off the coast of the Jamaican mainland. South of kingston harbour. People who can rent passage and come here to chill and enjoy a quiet day in the sun. I like it for its snorkelling, as it's not part of the mainland, you sometimes get a clearer view of what the ocean offers. Here's a litte video we put together.

Over the course of last weekend we took a road trip through the hills. Drove from the house in Kingston to a little place called Port Maria, where we stayed at Casa Maria for the night. The real objective of the whole thing was the drive. Jamaica has some pretty treacherous roads, so we picked one off the map that was twisty and less travelled. It was a pretty awesome drive, we stopped a lot so I could take pictures and we could look around. Up to the mountain tops and back down the other side to the ocean. Coast to coast. These are some of the HDRs we stopped for.

Heres a little clip of our arrival and drive through Fern Gully to Ocho Rios. The roads are crazy in Jamaica this video doesnt do it justice. I believe this road is a highway. Enjoy.

Heres a little clip I filmed at the Captain Morgan and Noel Coward's house.  It gives you just the slightest idea of how beautiful it really is.

This is where Captain Morgan lived for a portion of his time in the Caribbean. I really enjoyed this place, it had the most beautiful view. The house itself was really cool as well. It had gun ports to shoot muskets from in case of attack. I also learnt that Captain Morgan was the first governor of Jamaica. I guess they got tired of him taking all the power, so they decided to give him some instead. Honestly, to me it all looked a lot like something out of Assassins Creed Blag Flag, super awesome.
This location is also where Sir Noël Peirce Coward had a home built during the mid 1900's. The world leading socialites, thespians, play writes, aristocrats, and musicians came here to stay and party with Sir Coward. And the walls are lined with photographs of the occasions to prove it. All in all it seems he lived a very amusing life indeed. He was a jack of all trades in the art world. Playing the role of play write, painter, photographer, and actor, he was quite accomplished. Some of you may have seen the original Italian Job, that was him.

Those pictures are huge
I just realized how big those pictures might be in your browser. Try zooming the page out to see them better. Mac: "Command + '-'" Pc: "Ctrl + '-'". Good luck.

Dunn River Falls
Sadly me and guy have either not had access to internet or have been too tired and passed out due to too many activities. Last Thursday we left Kingston and drove through the mountains to Ocho Rios, to climb Dunn River falls. We got there around 12.00 and it was pouring rain. At first I was all.. Fuck, it's raining and I'll have none of it. But after the long staircase down the side to where the falls meet the ocean. It wasn't so bad. And after basically runnin halfway up the falls I was happy to have the rain help cool me down. We climbed the falls three times. Running past the masses of tourists that were holding hands and chanting together. They seemed really cold. Dunn River Falls is my favorite activity in Jamaica and I tend to do it most of the times that I come visit. Turns out it's a lot of fun rock climbing a water fall. We filmed some of it with the GoPro so hopefully that'll show up here soon.
