we measure humidity by relative humidity. basically how much water is in the air divided by how much water can the air hold (varies by temperature).
you wouldn't say that a lake is 100% humidity, it's actually infinitely more than 100%, it doesn't even make sense to calculate because there is no air.
if it gets to 100% what happens is it waterworld then?

both mentally and physically, you build that by doing low-to-medium intensity drills for a long period of time without rest
how do i gain more staminal/endurance
#bodybuilders notoriously have super low endurance compared to athletes or fighters#if you wanna do 100 pushups#you gotta do 1000 wall pushups 1000 knee-assisted pushups first#building maximum strength for low reps is like stockpiling a bunch of gasoline to get across the country#doesn't matter much if your car breaks down at mile 50#for cardio beginners gotta start with walking and like 60 second bursts of light jogging--your heart/lungs aren't ready for more#even if it feels to easy mentally

the democratic party's obsession with polling has invented woke racism and woke misogyny and woke homophobia
who could have seen this coming
Let me tell you as a cashier, you really do see the wide array of political beliefs that all types of people hold
I've had cishet white men of varying ages scoff and talk shit about Trump with me
Recently I had an older white gentleman come through my line, and somewhat unprompted scoffed about the government and said "You could probably have Ted Bundy or someone else like him run for president, and he'd probably at least come close to winning!"
And I've also had cishet women, white and black (I live in a pretty white state, so other ethnicities/races aren't that common), preach about Trump and say "It's time for a change!" or "He's gonna drain that swamp and get us jobs!" or "He's going to save us so much money and prices will go back down to how they were!!"
I have had black cishet men say that Trump is amazing, and even biracial people say that they support and voted for him
One of my coworkers who is a cishet white woman in her 70s voted for Trump, and another who is in her 60s.
And one of my coworkers who is a cishet white man also in his 70s cannot stand the guy, calls him an idiot, says he's going to ruin the economy, and that republican voters and politicians alike are all idiots who can't see the bigger picture
Exiting polls are important, but also working with the public can also help to show you that there is really no essentialism to be found when it comes to people
Another thing you notice when you work retail, especially in a predominantly white state, is the growing absence of hispanic customers that you held awkward, simple interactions with thanks to your limited Spanish skills with

honestly i'm not sure you're intellectually ready to engage in conversations about steven's universe either
i kind of feel like if you take "don't bomb iran" as an endorsement of the iranian government, you're not intellectually ready to engage in conversations about real-world politics. Go talk about steven's universe instead

unfortunately, this phenomenon isn't really unique to ai
i had the same realisation with disc brakes on bikes, which got really mainstream around 2020--and suddenly rim brakes were "wildly unsafe" even though literally everyone had been using them daily since they were a child.
at a population-level, we are just extremely susceptible to marketing hype
the scariest thing about the generative AI thing is how quickly people have accepted it as an indefinite, irrevocable part of their reality. people have genuinely convinced themselves that ChatGPT is the only solution to most tasks - tasks they did with their own brain without any large effort two years ago. like you know damn well all of us used to write emails ourselves why are we pretending like this is an impossible task to do with your own two hands. what's with the fucking. AI revisionism. i feel like i am going insane.

i love series like gintama
the goofiness most of the time makes the dramatic moments hit so hard. like you can feel what they're trying to protect, not just know it factually. you're not just told that they love each other, you're in on it because you love them too.

people absolutely DO respond that way when you say you're hanging out with david.
but yeah, as a teacher, almost every single time i talk about my content area, full-ass adults will say "oh god i hated that as a kid" or "when will the kids ever use that?"
honestly, teachers that make their whole life about their jobs, i don't know how you respond to shit like that. as a jaded, work-to-rule dipshit, it flows off my back like water, but if i cared? whoo boy i would avoid people like the plague.
Look, I know this response isn’t malicious and simply an attempt at connection, but it’s still funny and incredibly frustrating that one of the most common responses a to “oh I’m doing/enjoy [math related thing]“ is “Oh man I HATE math” despite being an insanely wild response. Like, can you imagine this in a slightly different context?
“Hey, so what are your plans this weekend?”
“Oh, I’m just gonna hang out with my best friend”
“Neat, who is it?”
“David!”
“God, I HATE David, can’t STAND him!”
Like, in almost any other context this becomes hostile. What, you expecting me to shit on something I love with you??? Really?
I just genuinely don’t know what people expect to come of this response.
